Not the beer! (Day 4 Mid Afternoon)

It was a lazy afternoon for Astin, and he found himself standing in Mynerva's chatting with the bartender when the earthquake struck. Luck was on his side as everything started shaking, and he was on his feet and able to dodge away from any injury.

Unfortunately the beer he was holding was not so lucky, and more then half of it found it's way on the floor. A truly terrible loss.

Someone else had been nursing a late lunch glass of Wild Acklay bourbon at the counter when the earthquake struck. Fortunately he wasn't so stuck in his thoughts to not be aware of his surroundings and managed to slap his palms flat on the counter and keep his balance.

At the expense of the bourbon glass, but it had only had a mouthful left in it anyway.

"Damn, that was an awfully big shaker." Astin offered aloud looking at his beer with a frown before tossing the rest of it back.

The bar seemed a bit worse for wear with broken bottles and glasses scattered everywhere The bartender seemed to be nursing his head having bumped it in the commotion. "Everyone okay, anything I can do to help?"

"Earthquake or that damn cruiser over the city?"

He started to pick up the pieces of his unfortunate glass.

Mia felt the rumble and did the far more sensible thing: she 'spilled' the rest of her drink into her mouth so she wouldn't have to worry about it. She huddled underneath the counter until it seemed like the commotion had stopped.

"I didn't hear any explosions," Mia mentioned, "I think earthquake."

Astin offered Mia a hand as she rose from under the counter, placing his now empty glass beside it. "Yeah I think she's right about that being a quale."

"Though it would of been nice if it exploding is what caused the big shale." He closed his eyes. "Excuse for a moment, I'm gonna dream of that for a bit."

"We'd have had a bunch of metal raining upon us, so let's not dream of that," Mia mentioned when she was up on her feet. She started walking towards the door to take a look outside.

"Yeah, ship is still there."

He sighed softly, but didn'topen his eyes. "I suppose you're right about that. But what should I dream about instead?"

"Pity."

He sighed and stared at the bottles that had survived the quake, hoping for something colourful and sticky that would go well with an umbrella stuck in the glass.

"The mines then. Pushing so far they're destabilising the planet."

Mia would notice his droids were not present.

Astin grimaced at that thought and let his eyes flicker open. "Now that's something I don't want to imagine. I'm guess you're right about it though."

"Yet another reason to get the kriffing goons off our planet."

He spotted the colours for vaguely what he was after and ordered a 'Tatooine Sunset'.

"Is that true?" Mia asked. She came back inside and rubbed her chin. "Shouldn't your droids be recording this mess? Or they off somewhere with someone else?"

"I'm on a 'day off'. Some high ups didn't like my report about the Aznuri Enclave and leaned on my editor to get my screen time reduced. So the boys are at home charging, or having droid parties."

He blinked and downed the cocktail in one go.

"Or whatever the pair of them do when I leave them alone for a bit."

"Droid party." Astin replied, nodding with conviction. "Droids are known party animals after all."

Picking up his now full glass of beer he took a sip. "Still, it's sad to hear that they came down on you so hard. That piece on the Anzuri Enclave was some quality reporting."

That brought a smile back to his face.

"Thanks, and you only got to see two thirds of it. They cut me off before I could show the TIEs strafing Aznuri trying to surrender."

"Did you have it recorded?" He asked curious as to the fate of the piece. "I'd like to see the whole thing sometime."

"You want to see that? Or you want to be able to use that footage?"

"I don't want to see the footage really, I'd just like to see the entire report. Instead of something half finished." He frowned for a moment.

"You're right though, we may be able to put it to use."

"It's recorded, backed up, hidden and the back-up hidden somewhere else."

He started staring at the bottle again.

"I doubt the copy at the office is still . . . complete."

"If it's even at the office at all." Astin somehow doubted any of it had really survived.

"Still nice to know." Following Ria'la's line of sight Astin smiled. "You want another drink? Have the stock might be busted, but they aren't going to be able to buy more by not serving."

"Well, even that footage should be enough." Mia glanced back up, not at the ceiling, but imagining what loomed above them. "Or maybe it'll do nothing."

"For what it cost it had better do something. If we could get it out there."

He nodded to Astin and pointed at a bottle of something dark and gloopy.

"What's that green stuff?"

"Well, that's a project we should work on. Though not something I have much experience with." Astin was a fair hand with machines, not computers.

"That? It's weird if you ask me. Mikkian Pollen Nectar, if I recall the translation of the name. Tastes a lot like flowers, and kinda sticks to your throat when you swallow it."

"Does it mix with anything?"

Ria'la kept eyeing it, and every other bottle he hadn't already sampled.

"Well, can't say I have ever tried that. Maybe with something that goes well with flowers?" He glanced towards Mia. "You have any ideas of what would pair with that?"
