Not the best deals (Day 1, EA)

Djanik had been watching the markets around the shipyard for a long time. For months he would come and go, watching for useful parts and old equipment. Never had any luck.
Now, with the growing signs of Imperial discontent, he felt a new urgency, so today he was out in the markets - looking a speeder and some extra hands to get out into the scrapyard - if he couldn't find the parts he needed here, maybe he'd find them out there.
Loitering by the speeder rental lot, he fidgeted idly with one fingernail, waiting to see if any other opportunistic sorts were looking to head out into the ship graveyard.

Djanik feels a tapping on his leg.

It had been a close-call earlier; and Verse was beginning to think that maybe she should invest in improving certain items she carried. Unfortunately, she wasn't exactly swimming in credits, which of course meant scavenging for useable parts somewhere. Trouble was, where? She didn't know this planet, after all. So... there was only one solution.
"Excuse me? Sir? Oh I meant madame, sorry. Sorry! Uh could you... oh... okay then, bye."
She stumbled about the market, asking her questions.
"Excuse me, ah yes uh, could you maybe tell me where I might find some equipment? No, no not the kind I buy with credits, I meant to sca... oh, okay, see you too!"
It wasn't going well.
"Sorry, could I bother you with a question? Do you happen to know of anywhere I might find uhh... discarded equipment? No? Oh, okay then, sorry to bother you."

Venator shows up at the Golden Market to meet up with Djanik. He trusts the driver to find them something good. He hopes some more people show up to the holonet ad he put up. He raises his hand when he spots the familiar face. " 'Golly pardner. I know I said da come on oud buh ya sure are early. Any odher coyodes show up so we can ged dis hoodanany on? Find anyding good?"
He takes a look at the speeders the man is looking at.

Djanik nodded a greeting to the Mandalorian as he approached, and then he felt a tapping on his leg.
Not moving suddenly, he shifted his balance slightly, easing pressure from a point on his side, just in case, as he glanced down to see who, or what, had just touched him.

There is a little jawa tapping him and then the little brown robed creature reached into a pouch and pulled out a hydro-spoon and offered it to the blue man. It was tentative and nervous as it held up the hydro spoon.

Djanik quirked an eyebrow, taking the spoon with one hand and examining it, but also the Jawa, to try and guess if it was part of the usual crowd of youngsters that liked to get his opinion on their pick-pocketed goods, discovered nick knacks, or who just liked to mooch off his diner meals.

The jawa smacked his hand with the hydro-spoon before taking it and held up a small hand open for payment.

"Excuse me," Verse's tour of questions finally reached present company, "Would any of you happen to know where uh... someone can find a place to uh... well this is awkward, I didn't mean to interrupt a sale. That's a very nice hydrospoon you're buying there."

With a chuckle, he chided, "You know I can't buy before I inspect it - unless you are offering a flash sale."
Rummaging around in his pocket, he pulled out two credit chips, rubbing them together.
It was hard to tell with Jawas, if this was one of his usual hecklers. Still, he suspected it might be.
Glancing at the woman who had just interrupted, he did a double take.
He hadn't... no. Could't be.
Without further banter he dropped the two coins into the small palm, and said, playfully, 'Don't spend it all at once, ok? And I already have an awful lot of spoons - you know I'm short on forks these days."
Glancing back at the woman he couldn't shake the feeling that she was familiar, like a ghost stepped out of the past.
It *had* to be a coincidence.
"It's all right, I'm fairly sure I've bought the same spoon two or three times now from the scamps - I'm not sure if we've met before, miss..."

The little jawa produced a hydro-fork and took the money quickly.

"Verse. Verse Aura. That was a very fine hydrospoon you missed out on, but hydroforks are nice too I guess."
While he might've gotten a sense of recognition from her face; and possibly name; she suffered no such sensations. She'd come across a lot of people over the years, and her brain wasn't especially well suited to filing them all away for later reference.

Djanik examined it. He was fairly sure it was from the diner he had eaten at that morning.
Rolling his eyes he fished out another credit chip and dropped it into the little paw.
These kids would bankrupt him yet.
"Don't spend it all on fizzi sticks. You know you need to eat better if you want to grow big and tall like me."
Shaking his head, he glanced back at the young woman.
"I go by Djanik. Sounds like you're looking for some help, and you might have lucked out. What is it you need?"

"Oh, well... I thought, most planets usually have like a place where people throw out old stuff, right? I could use some components for a project or two, but I don't really have the credits to buy the stuff I need. You're the first person who'se actually heard me out the whole way!"

A faint smile.
"Well, I'm used to listening."
Glancing at the crowd about him, he added, "Are you alone, or is your Ma... anyone else needing to come with you?"

"My Ma?"
Her eyes widened. Oh no, this was... wait, if he was Imperial she'd be in cuffs now. Or well, not in cuffs but in battle. Right? But she didn't sense anything special from him, so clearly he wasn't a fellow Jedi, right? Huh.
"Uh no... no ma, no anyone else."

"Ah, ok. Just checking to see how many seats we'll need."
He offered a friendly smile. The last thing he needed to do was set her off or send her running.
"I was planning to go on a trip out to the ship graveyard today, with my associate here, Venator. He may look scary, but he's got a heart of gold under all that iron. We were hoping to put a crew together."

"Well, I could tag along if you'd let me, maybe? I'm not very experienced at scavenging itself, but I'm pretty strong. I could carry stuff, or fight stuff if necessary."

"I bet you could..."
Djanik just nodded.
"We have room, and more hands makes lighter work."

"Great, sign me up!" her enthusiasm dial was set to 9; because 10 was just a *little* too much.
"So, a ship graveyard huh? Sounds promising!"

"The ship's graveyard...?" said a new voice, belonging to a blue woman in immaculate overalls, with goggles resting on her head.
"You weren't thinking about heading out that way, were you?"
Her voice sounded curious, if not interested.

Djanik glanced over, and then did a double take.
She wasn't a Pantoran like he'd ever seen.
But that was really fetching, in an exotic way.
Trying to drag his mind back to the task at hand, he managed "Yes! Yes, I mean we are. Could use some parts. Ship parts, that is, from the Shipyard."
Wow. Smooth.

"Well, not just ship parts," she added as she turned around, "or maybe ship parts that could be used for non-ships too, I should say?"

"I am sure there is all sorts, yes yes. Even if it were all starships, it is not like such things do not carry many things on them; Gear, cargo, computers... it just depends on what has been picked through."
She inclined her head at the silent Mando as she leaned against a wall.
