Taking Chances [Day 6, Early Afternoon]

Controlled by the Hutt Cartels, these islands are dangerous and nominally submit to local authority but Tididol the Hutt is the final authority here.

Taking Chances [Day 6, Early Afternoon]

Post by Jenna Karath » Mon Feb 10, 2020 5:49 am

Once she awoke she didn't check to see if she was totally alone, they'd finally found a place to rest down and settled into a new life on the run it seemed. At the time, Jenna was at least fairly certain she was alone on board and the rest were taking care of their own things. With that assurance she'd strapped herself into the pilots chair and prepped for launch.

It was a quite ride, out over the seas, and she had a lot of time and space to think about what she was doing. Why was she even doing this? There were a lot of questions she couldn't find a proper answer to, but she knew it was in there somewhere. Thoughts danced between everything she'd witnessed, the murder of the contractor seemed... normal, in a sense, but when she found out about the farmer, it.. shook something inside of her a bit, a thought she couldn't escape from. And their target? The artifact... she couldn't deny what it was, what it could mean, but that was a concern for later, she thought.

Maybe she should have contacted Vaya about that earlier... no, she shook her head. That was something she could determine later, she had enough information to support her reasons for coming here without it. Approaching the islands..

"This is Jax, tell Tididol I've come to talk, there's something... something I think she'll want to hear," she transmitted over toward the security station, pausing a beat and adding, "something in private."

Inhaling deep, exhaling slow, she brought the ship into a nice and calm landing on the directed landing pad. Settling down the ship she felt the weight of it shift and settle with a thunk, a motion she felt twofold from the rising anxiety. Yet she knew why she was here, she knew her purpose, she just...

She hoped she was right.

Hutt guards usher her towards the palace proper from the flight pad which was directly over water by several hundred meters.

Before long she was brought before the Hutt herself. The room smelled of incense and several people stood around the large circular chambers and the enter of the room had dancers and the Hutt sat on her floating chair surrounded by food and pets.

Incense hit her like a truck, the smell of it was always expected but gave her that momentary reflex whenever a stronger scent hit the nose. Paying only moderate attention to the surroundings she'd walked through, getting a lay of the land while pretending to look at the dancers. Occupational hazard, is what she would say if asked.

Then, finally, before the Hutt she offered her respect, "Tididol, I'm honored you took my request to heart," she spoke in semi-fluent Huttese, it'd been a few years. Still, better to play up the old tricks, show some level of subservience where she could.

The Hutt smiled her corpulent form leaning forward as her chair hovered closer. She was smoking her favorite spice so she had to focus to see what she was looking at and then said in Huttese, “Ohohohoho, you both may speak… oh you did speak, well how can I help you fine gentlemen… things.”

“All three of you.”

"Tididol, I.." she continued in Huttese, glancing around the room, she wasn't sure if she remembered it quite like this. Was Tididol always so... stuck in a haze?

"I've come to talk to you, there was something I needed to know but.. this isn't exactly the most proper setting for it. It's something you would want to hear, alone," she tried, at least.

Jenna's approach wasn't as stellar as she might have hoped, the doubt she experienced from seeing Tididol in this state worsened her argument considerably.

Tididol dismissed some of her non-essential staff with a wave of her hand and then said in Huttese, "Now... you were saying human #2 or #3, please go on I love the sound of your voice."

It was still a risk, maybe even too great of a risk, still... what was the right thing in a situation like this? Was there any? Risk her life for.. she didn't even know what, play it safe, had to play it as safe as she could. If Vandil had people here, they'd know in a heartbeat, and it'd all be over but if she didn't then she only needed to keep it vague, interest the Hutt and give no one anything to talk about, "I have concerns, about your security. Your business, you see, I've word that there is another contender working their way up the ladder to try and topple you. I've strong support, but no strong evidence, just... well, the hints that lead to something more."

Hutt's were the scum of the galaxy but, even this scum of the galaxy was better than the alternative, right?

Helluva bet to make, "Does this.. interest you?"

“Wait a threat to me,” she looked at her staff and then floated to a twi’lek dancer and asked her, “You would warn me, right my sweet pet?” The twi’lek just nodded and then went back to being pretty scenery.

She floated back to Jenna and said in Huttese, “Both of you give me names. Now! I want heads to roll… roll they will!”

"Perhaps, it would be best to plot this revenge when you might better be able to plan it?" she tried, somewhat, to steer this into a direction she could better control, she hoped.. at least. This was, certainly not going as she expected. What did she even expect?

"A cool head would get you more satisfying results, right? Perhaps something sobering to help you plan?"

Luckily, removing the hold doubt held on her mind, the fear of her making a mistake she carried with her, it proved to better her argument by leaps and bounds.

Impressed by her courage the jovial Hutt said, "Fine... let's think on this and clear my head I guess and we can talk later... all three of you. Just in case this is important?"

"It is important, yes?"

"Very," she said, relief dashed across her expression like no other. Shoulders relaxing, even dropping them a little bit, it would have been a show if the others in the room weren't likely used to such displays.

"When shall I return?"

Jenna shook her head at the thought, how long it had been since she'd been in a room with any Hutt let alone Tididol.

“Just call me, you two can call me… especially if you have delicious spice,” the Hutt responded.

“But not too late, I like my sleep… you three can remember that right, or I’ll kill two of you.”

She gestured to her guards to show the audience was over and her floating chair went back to where she started to enjoy her pets.

"So Fella's," she said, after she'd been walking with the guards for just a few seconds, enough to have turned away from Tididol and all. "What do you think the chances are I make it out of today alive?" she said with a smirk, and a humor, that only someone who had a feeling they were walking off the edge of a cliff could have.

One chuckled and said in Hutese, "It depends on what you have to say... you read me."

"No, she's not," she said, getting introspective for a moment before shrugging it off. Jax, when she was in her prime as a thief, would she have accepted these odds?

"Well," she stretched upward, "if it turns wrong and I'm not a good swimmer, get me a nice looking casket, huh?"

"Guess we'll all find out," she said, stepping out in front of them before turning around and letting her arms out in a much larger shrugging gesture, "one way or another. Real, real soon," she said, another smirk, well... it was pretty much on the rails now, no going back.
