All Tied up (Combat Thread)
This is a combat thread against a squadron of tie fighters running interference around the space station! The fighters face A Tie Fighter Ace pilot, the second in command, and two flights of tie fighters! This is open to 3 space craft, if a freighter limit of three players per light freighter. Each Z-95 or Jedi Fighter has an Astromech installed and may use the NPC rules from Stay on Target on page 73.
If they get 3 advantage or a Triumph on a check they may add an Astromech maneuver and it gives the pilots an Assist on their skill check per round.
OOC: This is worth 15 Contribution Points.

Captain Beck lead her Valkyries into battle if the Resistance scum wanted a war they had one. No mercy would come to them for defying the Empire, this was a time to show Bankor who was truly the authority.
She said to her flight “On me, give no quarter. Weapons
free.”

Djanik was sitting in the cockpit of the
Zero Dawn, systems humming as the engines pushed the Rusalka patrol fighter out of Bankor's atmosphere, 12 Z-95 headhunters fanning out behind him.
As he dialed up the shields, he gave an appreciative smile as the systems read all blue, and they began to close the range.
It was the rush, before the battle, as you opened up the throttle, and got ready.
As he saw TIE fighters pouring down from the station to meet them, he began counting down the range to contact. As the range ticked away, his
music pumped in his helmet- before he cut through it to call out. "Wolf Squadron, all wings, report in."
As he listened to the responses, his fingers tapped the control stick with the energetic tempo of a man waiting for imminent action.
The range was closing, and when they finally entered range, he'd give the call.
And then they'd dance their first, deadly, dance.

Still, he had all his gear, most importantly toolkit, ready to go.

The moment of contact had arrived.
"All wings, claw formations, maneuver by elements, break! You are weapons free!"
The twin diamond they had been flying in split into four three ship deltas, grouping up and spiraling outward, before converging from four directions to engage the swarm of TIEs.
As the proximity alarm blared, warning him of hostile target locks, Djanik gritted his teeth, adding under his breath, so the mic wouldn't pick it up,
"Cover each other... and get home alive."
He knew they wouldn't all manage that.
He only hoped some of them would.
And then the chaos of the dogfight was truly unleashed.

Feathering the accelerators, he sent the Zero Dawn on a jinking pattern, sidesliding into the midst of one of the TIE formations.
"It isn't too late to do the right thing - you ever want to save your people... save the innocent, you just say."
It was all he could offer, because he wasn't going to hold back. Not for himself, not for her. His pups were counting on him, and he wasn't going to risk their lives by going easy on these Imperials.
The ethics of war... eventually they boiled down to
kill the bastards before they shoot your buddies.
Gritting his teeth, blood pounding in his ears, he brought the ship into a sharp, arcing turn, looping through the formation and coming out on the tail of the leading TIE fighter, lasers spitting twin bursts of indigo light at the fragile craft. (Move to close of minions)
Gunnery vs TIE formation,:

The indigo bolts smashed into the ship, rattling the pilot as they chewed into the armor. (6 damage, 1 threat for dapper)
Maybe that would draw their attention - his job was to keep his pups alive, and the best way to do that was to draw fire away from them - at least... so long as it didn't end in his own death...

The tie fighter squad is hit hard by Djannik! The Tie Commander barks orders to the Tie fighters while captain Beck engaged Djannik but did not find purchase!
OOC: Using Threat to reduce Djannik's Speed to 3, the minion group takes 4 wounds but the ship is still whole barely. Tie Commander advanced to Short and gives a command granting his allies a boost die, players get 3 Threat to use versus the Commander. Beck moves to Close of Djanik! She misses but will use the 2 Advantage to engage Evasive Maneuvers, 1 to grant next ally a boost die. Roll fixed.

Veras followed Djanik’s lead and homed in the squad and rips them apart with her twin linked laser cannons! Chewing through several fighters with pinpoint accuracy! Veras cheered, “Got em!”
“I got your back, old man!” she teased.
Meanwhile the reamining Tie Fighter of the first squad tried to line up a shot on the New Hope but the craft is too nimble!
OOC: Hit for 9 use advantage for Linked to hit again for 9, she takes out 3 in Minion group #1! Only 1 left. Minion #1 fired after moving to Close on Elaranu, they now have 1 threat to use.

The last Tie Fighter of that squad is blown apart by the skilled pilot! As the second Squad moved into position behind the New Hope! The nimble freighter avoids any serious harm as the battle continues!

He could focus on Nora.
But that would leave his squadron alone.
Individual heroics... taking down the enemy ace... that wasn't his job.
Clearing threats away from his pilots... that was his job.
Kicking his thrusters into gear, he sent the ship on a zig-zagging course, weaving through the melee.
"Wolf 2, this is Wolf Leader, prepare to break left on my mark."
Swinging in behind the TIE captain pursuing her, he looked for a target lock, hands easing the controls in for a sharp angle of attack.
At the moment of action, he called, "Break now!"
Then he dove past her, lasers blazing, looking to ambush the TIE captain. (Move to close with TIE captain)

The bolts would savage the craft, crippling it, if not destroying it outright.
Tapping his Imperial commlink that he had taken, he stated, simply, "Don't make me keep doing this Nora. Your people are outgunned - don't throw their lives away! We used to fight for the safety and freedom of the galaxy... Your pilots are good. They could fight for something better."
So could you.
He doubted she would listen, not now, but he had to put the offer out there. He owed the Imperial pilots that much - some of them had might well have been his friends.

Captain Beck ignored the mewling, the traitor deserved nothing less than death. The battle was frantic as each vied for supremacy in the din of space conflict.
OOC: Snap roll used for 3 strain for a reduction of 4 down to 6 and soaked 4, still in the fight. Tie Commander uses a maneuver to grant their allies a Boost die and then fires on Djanik. Currently Djanik is at Speed 3 due to Threat used from before. Hit Djanik for 7 Hull Trauma! Missed grant next ally a Boost die, Djanik gets a setback to next Gunnery or Piloting check, use 3 for Evasive Maneuvers.

Veras rolled her fighter and fell in behind the commander and fired turning the tie fighter into molten slag as she said over the comm to her allies, “Another one down!”
“The Force is with us! Petrus, setting you up!”
Meanwhile the second squad attacks the New Hope with vicious fire!

And Petrus was ready to go, Veras giving him the cover he needed to switch consoles again. His fingers danced over the pad, rerouting power, releasing fire suppression, and activating failsafes.
"More coming in, mark-323." Petrus shouted, one eye on the scanners, even as he worked.
