[D7EE] Even the Wurm Shall Turn

Vaya looked over the Chaldi village, seeing how it had recovered a month or so after the battle that had raged there. She was at her accustomed sensor console, with Jenna taking them in to land.
"... anyway, I've more-or-less ruled out silicate exogorths," she said, "But I'm hoping the Chaldi can give me something more to work with." Vaya shrugged. "And they're real sensitive about the Calm, but maybe after I tell them about how it might not be safe yet, they'll give us something more."
She popped her restraints and went to the descending ramp. "He hasn't said anything, but I think Bowze is scheming on how to use the wurm to fight the Empire." She tugged her thermal cloak a little closer around her as the hot, humid air of the forest swept in and glanced at Jenna. "How about you? Contributing to the grand cause?"

Bringing them in to land she made careful work of it, not quite trusting the environment here, settling it in smooth as she can she took her time getting prepared for the journey ahead. Dressed in her new ensemble, a thermal cloak covered over her light brown jacket, and slimmer fitting cargo pants. It was a far cry from her days of wearing some baggy grey jumpsuit looking thing, and was perfect for when she did choose to bring the blaster that she often now strapped to her hip.
Seeing as there wasn't going to be any security sweeps, she took the rather hot firearm she lifted from the museum in on her hip.
Jenna had been stunned to a silence, at first, "A wurm?" the thought finally came out but she shook her head, focused on the question, "Uh, yea, sorta. Been working with Jurdak, and those over in that department. Not really totally sure what to call it yet, but, I lend my hand where I can. Being a good thief, apparently, isn't the only thing I can do with my skill-set."

Vaya raised her eyebrows at the degree of blaster Jenna was packing. "Well done. You're a rebel now." She shook her head. "And Jurdak. A lot more of the Salty Nerf crew risking a firing squad for a cause then I would have guessed two months ago."

"Doing what I can," she shrugged, "with my brother.. well, it doesn't make sense to do nothing, and as far as the blaster.." she put her hand on it, steadied herself a little, "lets.. just say it helps me feel safe when I think of black masked devils and short blades."

The villagers greet them warmly remembering them well as the laowai that aided them in a time of need.

Vaya used her limited command of the Anzuri dialect to ask to see their elders, to pass on what she and Sinnya had learned from Neela about the continued threat to the Calm, and their lore-keepers, for questions about the Wurm.

Vaya smirked and pulled aside her vest to tap her own tiny, stun-only, blaster. "What, you don't think you can count on me to keep you safe?"

Opening her mouth she hesitated, and broke it down into a smile, "Always can trust you to have my back," she patted the blaster once more, "got mine on that job for.." she hesitated again, "found it on the job, seemed an easy grab so I strapped the thing to my leg and we don't tend to part unless, well, can't very well walk into Rygor with this at the hip. Not unless I want to get shot."

Vaya frowned, willing to speak casually among the Anzuri, whom she considered unlikely to betray them to Imperials even if they could get the full meaning of quickly spoken basic. "What do you think happened with the real prize of that score? Do you think it ended up with Vandil, or the Disciple?"

"Vandil," she said, glancing around at the Aznuri, something gave her comfort about the whole thing because in a way they were co-conspirators in far worse. "No way it ended up in the others hands, Tididol was out before she got the prize and I doubt they stayed friends much longer than that."

Vaya frowned. "That's odd, don't you think? Everything I've heard about The Disciple... okay, mostly the name... makes them sound much more likely to be in to that sort of thing."
ooc: Assuming the Anzuri are willing to talk to me/let me look at their stuff, difficulty/skill to research The Worm?

OOC: Average check.

"Could be part of Vandil's play," she said, shrugging, "I.. I don't understand this Sith, Jedi, whatever stuff, but it's clear it has real power. Could be how Vandil learned about it, through the Disciple, probably why she rushed to get her hands on it when she did. Woman's dangerous, cause she's smart. Knows not to look at an advantage too closely if it means she might lose the chance to gain it, rather risk it being nothing. Has no worry for losing anything besides, hiring out like she does."

The creature is more myth to them, birthed by dark sorcery run amok it is the eater of souls and the wicked, but the real world they don’t have too much to offer. The creature is doubtless probably strong enough to take on modern vehicles and the hide is probably extremely thick and durable since it burrows through toxic contaminated earth and rubble.

Vaya, cautiously, turned her inquiries to the Calm, if they are willing to speak of it. Is there anything the outsiders might do, short of driving off the overwhelming force of the Empire, to make it safer from knowledgable and determined darksiders? Conceal, seal away, decoy from -- anything?
ooc: Assuming I don't get totally stonewalled, a difficulty? Maybe with setback, since it's a touchy topic?

They will not speak of the Calm.

Vaya grimaced but accepted it. She turned again to the wurm...
ooc: Could a second check get anything more on the Wurm? Legendary weaknesses or things that could be used as lures? If no, that's fine, sometimes a well is dry.

There is mention of a mighty lance or bow that could kill the creature but it sounds like myth, lost in the region considered the industrial wastelands of a great Chaldi hero who tried to slay the demon wyrm but obviously failed.

Following along with the inquiries Jenna did . Her best to reign in Vaya's spirits if and when she got too enamored with the pursuit of knowledge. Keeping her from stepping on toes in it's pursuit of that next nugget of information. She trusted she'd be good at it though, and merely kept watch.
Granted, she had to be a little more careful about it cause she had very little idea how to solve disputes. Just trying to make sure they were a little more cautious about everything.

Vaya took Jenna's hints, and decided discretion was the better part of valor. She did as much as she could to add graciousness to her thank-yous and goodbyes, despite her feeling like she could've gotten more, someone. Jenna was a great aid in this.
As they head up the ramp, she muttered, more to herself than to Jenna. "Should've gone to the Rygor archives... or tried again topside..." (her code for the moon Temple).

"Maybe, but we don't know how we would have gotten you into the city without risked. I could have gotten myself in, maybe, but would this all be worth that risk?" she said, walking up into the ship and taking a moment to stretch at the top of the ramp.

Vaya shrugged unhappily. "I'm probably just letting curiosity get the better of me. I've run to ground most of the really interesting puzzles on this planet already. Well, the ones people let me pry in to." She shrugged again"But that's the thing about knowledge, right? You don't know what ou don't know, and whether it might be important." She leaned back in the acceleration chair in the cockpit, crossing her arms. "Of course, this is the first time anything I've researched has been 'important' in the immediate-life-and-death sense."
