[Day 5 - MA] Allies and Shadows

The Resistance found an abandoned camp in the desert around a small oasis to meet. This meeting was said to be an important step forward for the Resistance and all active agents were invited to attend if they so choose.
Yusandr and Rayne were on hand along with a small group of folks waiting for the rest of the Resistance to speak and decide the potential future for the fight to free Bankor from Tyranny.
Among them was a dark cloaked man who had come out to hear these words.
OOC: If you participated in the Rescue or Distraction operation on Day 3 then you are invited, otherwise you are not alerted to the meeting.

Djanik arrived, dressed in an khaki green officer's uniform, with brown leather boots, gloves, and red trim. With an old Republic navy Captain bar, a commissioned officer's HL-27 Corellian LIght blaster pistol on his hip, his past identity and affiliation were not hidden today. He had landed his ship nearby, locked it down, and proceeded on foot.
As those invited took up their places, he stood at ease to the side of the main group, waiting to see just what this planet had to offer in opposition to the crushing might of the Empire.

Ria'la arrived, for once not dressed to the highest fashions, in fact rather non descript and suitable for desert conditions. His droids were with him but almost his first action on arriving was . . .
"Binky, Dray, cameras off, audio recording off, broadcast off, watch the horizon and alert me of anyone incoming."
Anyone that knew him would be rather surprised to see the Defender Sporting Blaster on his hip. Few knew he even owned a blaster.

Ru'ni came to the meeting. Agent might have been a strong word to describe his involvement, but as a representative of his people, his presence there was almost a certainty. These people were helping the Aznuri, so he would continue to help them.
The enemy of my enemy and all that...

Dak sat at the abandoned camp nodding to Yusandr as he entered. It had been a rather eventful day and he was exhausted but he was here and ready to listen.

A beige-colored thermal cloak draped over Dove's figure to protect her from the worst of the desert's heat. She cast a cautious glance about to see who was gathered.

Astin had parked himself sitting against a tree, it gave him a good view of the ongoing plans, or whatever was going to happen and allowed him to get in a nap if things got too tedious or boring.
Which is what he planned to do while he waited for everyone else to arrive. The sun shining through the shade of the tree was quite pleasantly warm after all. So after taking a few moments to look around he closed his eyes.

"Lemme know what you think of all this," Mia whispered into Dove's ear on the way over to the meeting site, "I'm still on the fence about this whole group. Most of them have good intentions, but..." She shrugged. "Could just be me."

No matter what else might have happened that day, Petrus was going to be at the resistance meeting.
His expression was serious, arms crossed over his chest as he waited, standing by his friends.

lol, yes, this!

The desert heat didn't appear to bother Sinnya. She found a place to settle herself in this gathering with rather more confidence than she'd shown at the last one.

Xanna was there too, assuming she had not been Inquisitored. The heat was unpleasant but she wanted to know where all of this was going. She also had another possible ally to bring to the table, assuming the planning appealed to him.

Verse would of course be there. She was apparently part of the resistence now, despite never signing any forms or anything of the sort. All of it was as the Force willed it, and so she was going to stick with it.

The mysterious hooded figure among many mysterious hooded figures within the crowd sat cross legged with his back to the speakers contemplating the small oasis.

Rayne made his way to the front to speak to the group as Liua showed up on her speeder. He started, “Alright I won’t waste your time, we got some big things to talk about I told Yusandr but I got word from a Core contact that there are other resistance groups across the Empire and some of them are trying to unite into an alliance, an alliance of rebels perhaps and pool resources. Got word from a contact on Mon Cala that they are willing to provide ship support and word from Alderaan that they have resources but what they lack is people. Brave people like us, to carry the fight.”
“I can’t speak for you, I am just a turncoat trying to make good, but this is an opportunity for us t be a part of something bigger.”
Satisfied he looked at Yusandr who just nodded and added, “I can’t make this decision for all of us.”
A woman’s voice called out, “No, but I think we all know what is right and what is wrong.” She walked forward, leaning heavily on a cane. Her clothes were modest but well-tended to as she addressed the crowd, “I am Senator Ysayle, I owe each of you an incredible debt for rescuing me from Camp-14.”
“It was a horrid place built on misery, just like this Empire, I was put there because I tried to stand up, I tried to fight back and did so alone. They want us divided, alone, and scattered. This alliance is a start, but it won’t be easy. I know that this fight is free Bankor, but this is bigger than that, this is a fight to bring back real democracy and freedom from the tyranny of this Empire and Emperor Palpatine. I believe it is worth it, because it is the right thing to do. I hope that you see that as well.”

Petrus took a deep breath, his blue eyes widening as he took in the news.
"How many worlds are we talking about here?" He asked. "So far, I mean. Three? More?"

"May we live in interesting times," Dove remarked with sour sarcasm. Today was proving to be way more interesting than she had originally planned.

"Lemme know what you think of all this," Mia whispered into Dove's ear on the way over to the meeting site, "I'm still on the fence about this whole group. Most of them have good intentions, but..." She shrugged. "Could just be me."
"They're good folks, Mia," she murmured to her friend. "And I trust her judgement." There was a nod to the senator.
Since it seemed to be a moment for people to chime in, Dove did in fact voice her support. "If we succeed here, Bankor can become a story of hope to others in the galaxy suffering the same, or worse. It certainly beats a story of martyrdom too." She nodded at Petrus's question. "I would guess probably more if we can show them that it is possible."

"It is the right thing to do. I am curious though. With all this talk of ships and allies, let us say we defeat the Empire here. How do we prevent them from returning with a bigger fleet?" She looked closely at the Senator. "I am just a soup kitchen manager, but I am thinking about the beings of this world and what happens next. Does the senate still retain enough power to use diplomatic means to stymie the Emperor? Or does he simply send his fleet to Bankor?"

Despite being down on personal hope right now, the Senator's words sparked something in Ria'la.
"We have to fight back. Each and every one of us could fight alone, but in ones and twos we're more effective. In bigger groups we can do even more. Think what we could do if this spreads across the Galaxy? How many planets think they can't do anything alone? How many will change their minds if they know they are not alone?"

Djanik listened, and then stepped forward.
"Every blow we strike has value, and it is clear this group has courage and initiative..."
Glancing between the different people gathered, he added, "There is something that it lacks."
A slow breath. "Discipline." Raising a hand to forestall any protests, he added, "My name is Captain Dak Kaveen, formerly of the Republic and Imperial navies. While I don't think the entire rebellion should fall into some sort of military structure, we will need a military force for when battles, and I mean true battles, have to be fought. Raids and sabotage are all well and good, but there will come a time when we have to bring entire squadrons, or detachments of troops, into battle."
Glancing around the oasis, he said, plainly, "We can't win a traditional war - but we need to start building the groundwork of a military wing of this rebellion of ours - we have political voices beginning to give guidance, and courageous partisans doing the work of resistance, but there comes a time when we openly rebel, and when that time comes, we should have prepared as best we possibly can. If we can make a mobile, hard hitting force, we can fight a war that slowly pulls the Empire apart, bit by bit."
Concluding, he added, "I have made contact with someone who can contribute skills and experience, along with a small amount of military equipment, to such a force, but any other resources of ships or personnel would be welcome investment in our future capability."
With a small nod, he stepped back, resuming his at ease stance and listening to what anyone else had to say.

"That's all well and good, Blue, but we need to focus on the here and now - not some distant idea of a military operation. We don't have a military here. Like, believe me, I'd love to have the old apparatus around me too with all my old toys and perks, but that's not where we are now. And it's not where we are in a month," Dove added in, shrugging underneath her cloak.
"And who is this benefactor with skills, experience, and military equipment?"

Dak nodded at everyone's words and chipped in his own "I know for some of you this fight stops at Bankor and I get that but what we have seen the empire do here is unforgivable. They have decimated two groups that did nothing but not bow down when the empire demanded. This is happening all over the galaxy. I for one want to prevent as many tragedies as I can." He also had some plans for this rebellion but didnt want to speak about them in a large unsecure group. "I'm in."

"General Nato Gunray, formerly of the CIS."
Djanik sighed. "The force is small, for now. And yes, even in a month, we won't have a grand army."
Pointing toward the menacing form of the Dictator, visible in the distance, he stated, simply, "But as we do obtain military hardware, and more veterans like Rayne and I, who are willing to fight the abomination that has supplanted the nation we fought for, we will need to use that equipment wisely. Not just throw it at the closest Imperial garrison without strategy and training. That ship will eat anything we throw at it, for now. Give me a squadron of ace pilots with the right equipment, and we can put that ship back in the repair yards for months. There are ways to fight when outnumbered - but we have to do it right, or every battle fought bravely but stupidly will destroy what little strength we gather. I'm not asking for ssome miracle out of the ether, I'm asking us to invest - to each play to our strengths to create what we will need to win, not in months, but in years."

"Ria'la has got it," Mia said, wondering if she had told him that idea herself. Well, somewhat, but he already seemed to have been wanting to spread it when she had seen him. "The two of us plan on releasing a message throughout the Holonet, through all their censors. It might not last long but that's all we'll need to reach everyone in the galaxy."
