[Day 1 - EA] One art please

Looking up at the fancy building she wondered how Mahon could afford this when he seemed to be low on cash all the time. Maybe that was what being "house poor" meant? She double-checked the address.

"Well, apparently this is the place Petrus. Unless I am reading this incorrectly?" She passed him the datapad and leaned over to press the buzzer. They had only split up a little earlier. Xanna had wanted to put the perishables she had bought in Jaklu into the fridge so they did not spoil.

Mahon buzzed them in, "Hey come up, was just cleaning up!"

There was a lift and his studio was on the 16th floor.

Petrus had been more than happy to come along with Xanna on the little excursion. One way or another, he expected that it'd be more relaxing than the day they'd had so far. And it seemed like the friendly thing to do. And Xanna seemed like a good new friend. A brave, beautiful sort of friend. He cast her a quick sidelong glance, his blue eyes bright.

He cleared his throat as he accepted the datapad. "Looks right to me. Huh." He said, looking up at the structure. "Almost makes me rethink my lifestyle." He passed the datapad back to her as the door buzzed, pulling it open for them to step through.

"Okay, up we come." She took the pad, tucking it away, and stepped inside the building. "Thank you Petrus. It is... Hmm, not what I was expecting."

Looking at the wide entry hall with no blaster scorch marks or piles of unidentifiable junk she moved to summon the elevator. "It has been an exhilarating two days."

The doors opened and she walked in, holding the doors for her new friend and watching him with her yellow eyes.

Mahon’s studio was large with several unfinished works sitting in a large central room and many paintings and murals decorated the walls of landscapes and people but there was a recurring theme for many of the unfinished works, a woman sometimes painted sometimes only an outline but it was common enough to be noticable.

They do see a rather detailed mockup of Sloan in all his nude majesty sitting under a sheet but still exposed. Off from the main chamber was a bedroom on a loft that overlooked this large central chamber and up there was Mahon. One could easily fit three or four typical apartments into this place.

He started down the steps toward the duo and said, “I didn’t realize you were bringing Petyr, right? So what do you think? It’s a little small I know but it’s home.”

Petrus snorted laughter. "That." He said. "Is an understatement. Makes me wonder about the future." Actually, despite the Empire, he was starting to feel a little better about it. He cast Xanna a smile as she held the door for him.

"Petrus." He corrected with a smile and a wave. "And yeah, I'm just tagging along. Nice place." He peered curiously at the statue of Brother Sloan for a few moments, before looking away, his eyebrows up.

"The future is always changing." She didn't gape as she looked around the hanger-like apartment, but it was impressive.

"You could fit my apartment and the whole soup kitchen in here. Maybe twice over. It is nice though." She gave the statue of Sloan a closer inspection. "This is good work."

The whole vibe of the place echoed with unfinished business. Invariably her eyes were drawn to the woman, or the place where she should be, in the assorted pieces.

"So. Who is this person? She has an impressive presence in your work Mahon." Xanna bent over to inspect one of the pieces, unintentionally revealing some toned blue curves.

Mahon walked over to a makeshift bar and said, “Want a drink? I need a morning… or afternoon pick me up?”

He responded to Xanna, “So this woman is uh, well she’s a Jedi like the farmer, which is wild but there you go. I knew… know her.”

He paused and took a shot and then poured more, “She was a good person, Neela Takee a Jedi Knight last time I saw her was during the Clone Wars. She was a special woman but I have… it does not matter I have been trying to do her justice but have yet to capture the right image… but I am hoping with the right model I can finally bring it all together.”

“Plus I kind of need to produce something, you know so I can eat.”

"Nothing for me, thanks." Petrus said.

He was silent a few moments as, after Mahon spoke, Petrus studied the unfinished figures. Really studied them, this time. "She must have been special. Really special." He said, looking at Mahon, his voice gentle.

Slowly, completing his circuit of the room, he came to stand next to Xanna, a supporting presence at her side. He didn't speak; didn't think it was necessary.

She rose gracefully as he told his story. It started to make more sense now. Why he was so keen to help them.

"How about a fruit smoothie or some sort of power shake? I will need some strength back before I go to see what damage the 'Kriffing Imps' have caused."

Neela Takee? Hmm, did I ever meet her?

"So I remind you of her? Then I will help you Mahon. Afterall, the Force has brought us together, and without you we would not have found Oraka." She posed like in one of the unfinished pictures. "But then, where would you sell such work?"

“I would not sell it, it would just be out of my head and then I could focus on actually filling some of my backlog,” he said honestly.

“I don’t have a smoothie whatever, but I got water?”

He walked up the steps to his kitchen and poked around the fridge and then found a water bottle and poured her a cup and brought it back all while saying, “So, I could pay… say two hundred creds for your time, but it would be doing me… her a huge favor.”

She did not recognize the name but it was a big galaxy and the Jedi were relatively few. "I did not know her." A glance was thrown at Petrus. "Water would be fine, thank you."

She took a sip and looked around the apartment again. After a moment she nodded and placed a hand on her heart. "I would be happy to help you work through your artistic block. This all sounds fair to me, and I get to help a Jedi and a new friend."

Xanna's eyes moved from sketches to drawings to paintings. "Was there something in particular that you had in mind?"

He was grateful and walked around and picked up a sketchbook, “Just… here, have a seat and relax just want to get some reference work done.”

“So maybe tell me more about yourself, I find that helps me get a better picture in my mind.”

He started sketching.

Petrus frowned as the name struck a chord of recognition within him...

"Make yourself comfortable, Petro," he said offhandedly.

"I recognize her." Petrus said. "She was with Master Kenobi. She did a lot of good things."

He paused a moment, licking his lips. Glancing at Mahon. "And she was true to the order, but... I guess I'd say she had a big heart." Even if forming attachments was something Jedi were supposed to avoid, Petrus couldn't help but sympathise.

"Petrus." He said absently, looking at Xanna. "Is it okay if I stick around? I get if it's private, but..." he frowned a moment, "-I guess I'd like to. If it's okay." There was something special about Xanna, he could feel it. Maybe this could help him understand.

Mahon said darkly, "Yeah she was true to the Jedi."

Nodding to the artist she moved over to the offered seat and placed the water in easy reach. She wore a light vest top of the sort one might exercise in, and some comfortable form-fitting pants. They kept her supported in all of the right places. She placed her bag on the floor.

"Oh, she knew Master Kenobi?" The interaction between the boys was noted but she decided not to say anything just yet. "About myself? Well then, I suppose we are all friends now. I grew up in obscene luxury on Pantoria. The sort of place in which this whole room might be the place one keeps one's shoes. It never suited me if truth be told." It didn't even seem like her life anymore. It seemed about as real as the adventures of Xanna Teevou.

Petrus moved himself off to the side, sitting cross-legged, chin resting on his hands. He kept quiet, but his blue eyes were interested, as he took in the scene, sights and sounds alike.

"General Kenobi? Calm, poised, clever. Eith a wonderful sense of humour." She smiled in remembrance. "Working with him was like being in the eye of an incredibly ironic storm." She looked over to the window, wondering if he was still out there.

"So you fought in the Clone Wars... what did you take away from that, I know my friend considered it the right thing to do, but I always felt she was conflicted about it," he said honestly.

She lightly chewed her lower lip as she thought about that question. It was simple but it cut to the heart of things that kept her up at night.

"My Master was sent to fight and so I was sent with her. I fought, yes." She sighed a little. "I do not think Jedi were meant to fight wars. We were keepers of the peace for generations, but not soldiers. There have always been Jedi who were great Warriors, admired for their skill, but they were not the whole of the order. Perhaps..." She shook her head. "Anyway, I mainly fought in skirmishes that we had planned in advance. It seems a long time ago now."

"How old were you?" he asked.

"You look like... I mean you're probably old enough to be my daughter."

"Pantorans mature a little faster than humans, but I was only fourteen." She half-smiled absently and looked out of the window. "I will be twenty soon."
