[D5EM] A Warrior's Heart is Born

[Petrus Karath]

It wasn't exactly his ship, more like one-quarter his ship. And he owed some people for it. Still... Petrus couldn't help but feel a certain amount of excitement as they approached the hangar. Stepping through the doors, he saw it for the first time.



"Huh." Petrus said, his eyebrows going up. "Pretty nice, huh guys?"

[Jenna Karath]

"Pretty nice," Jenna parroted her brother and stepped forward into the hanger, holding a bag of things that she felt were most necessary to get into the ship straight away. Wasn't much of a bug-out method if you didn't prep it properly and she was never one to wait too long to prep.

Stepping ahead of the group she took in a fuller view before turning to look back at everyone else.

[Xanna Teevou]

She didn't have all that much stuff anyway, so Xanna had just grabbed a few things to help make her cabin feel more homely. It was good to finally be here, and looking at a possible future.

"It looks like she is in as good a condition as was promised." Her eyes searched around for any sign of flaws, but it looked to be in good condition. "I am looking forward to our first flight. Once I am sure the engines are fine. Always best to check!"

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus walked slowly around it, one hand coming up to let his fingertips brush against the underside of the hull. "A ship, huh?"

He smiled fondly. "Good idea. We can give them a real look." His eyebrows went up. "But don't you want to see inside, first? You don't want to end up with the last choice of quarters, do you?"

The entry ramp was open; Petrus walked to it, but didn't go inside yet. That seemed like an experience to share.

[Brother Sloan]

Sloan held with him in one hand a large foot of some unknown animal.

"We must hang this near the pilot's controls. It brings us good luck." Sloan paused. "Who will pilot this beautiful ship anyways?" He hadn't really considered that, but knew he wasn't the best candidate to take the helm.

[Jenna Karath]

"I've been on... a few now, I can manage it, I think," Ejnna said as she walked up beside Sloan and then passed him to stand by her brother at the ramp. Just staring up from the bottom of it, fully aware of the significance, in a way she almost was afraid it wouldn't feel like a new home because that was, in her heart, what she wanted.

[Dapper Dog]

"It needs a picture on the side, or something," Liua said as she finished a cig.

[Petrus Karath]

"Sloan, what even is... nevermind." Petrus shrugged

"It needs a picture on the side, or something," Liua said as she finished a cig.

"Yeah? What d'you think would look good? Maybe we could put a picture of a Mega-Rancor on it?" He cast a teasing grin towards Xanna.

[Dapper Dog]

"Sloan but as a pinup model," she joked.

[Petrus Karath]

"Maybe we should just commission another statue and put that on board. Right in the middle of the common area, huh?" Petrus joked back.

[Xanna Teevou]

Xanna threw Petrus The Look and then gave Sloan's charm an appraising look. "No mega-rancor. The statue is very nice though... That leg can be hung up once I have boiled the microbes off the bone, okay Sloan?"

She nodded at Liua's suggestion. "I say we commission Mahon to paint something for us? Something...cool."

"Okay then. Jenna, you are our pilot, lead the way!" She gave her friend an appreciative smile.

[Jenna Karath]

"People might think it's a war ship with a visage like that," she said, a deep breath, why did this seem so daunting. "Here goes nothing then," she says with a little laugh, walking forward up the landing ramp with the others surely close behind.

Inside the ship she stood, looked around, no fan fare right off the bat from her she'd merely set the bag down and let the moment catch up with her as the others came right up from behind.

As with many ships with a vaguely circular design, the ramp opened to a corridor. Everything seemed to be in order, lights working, and relatively clean.

"Been a while since I've been on a ship." Petrus mused, looking around. "What should we check out first? Bridge is that way. Engine room? Crew quarters?"

[Brother Sloan]

Xanna threw Petrus The Look and then gave Sloan's charm an appraising look. "No mega-rancor. The statue is very nice though... That leg can be hung up once I have boiled the microbes off the bone, okay Sloan?"

"Okay then. Jenna, you are our pilot, lead the way!" She gave her friend an appreciative smile.

"This sounds quite acceptable." If Sloan could blush he would have. "However, I must insist that my likeness is kept off of our ship."

[Jenna Karath]

With a pause open, Jenna took a short breath and: "Pilots privilege on room choice," she grinned.

[Petrus Karath]

"Hah." Petrus said, grinning. "You might be the pilot, but you're still my little sister. We'll see." His tone was teasing; in truth, he wasn't too concerned about which room he got.

He looked back at the others. "What about checking out the cockpit first?" Jerking his head to indicate the direction, Petrus would lead the way if no one objected.

[Xanna Teevou]

"To the cockpit! Lead on Petrus." She reached over and placed a hand on Sloan's forearm. "Very well, we shall not litter the place with statues of you my friend."

With a wink at Jenna and Liua she added: "I think room choice is based on fewest demotions." She smiled as she took in the features of the ship and wondered what adventures they would share together.

[Petrus Karath]

"Fewest demotions?" Petrus winced. "What, are you gonna make me sleep in the engine room?" Shaking his head, his lips quirked as he lead the way down the corridor to the right.

Almost immediately, the corridor began curving back towards the center. They passed what was obviously crew quarters on the right; Petrus cast them a quick curious glance, but kept going onward. A sharp left at an intersection, around a U, and they were there.

It was a sizable bridge; it was a ship meant to be crewed by a handful of people, after all. Pilot and copilot seat were at the front, with the majority of the controls, but there were other stations around the little room.

"Phew." Petrus said, his eyebrows going up as he studied a console, studded with buttons and switches. "It's gonna take a while to figure all of this out."

[Xanna Teevou]

Xanna also paused to look in the crew cabins. They all looked to be a similar size, which made things easier when it came to picking out a living space.

Catching up she looked around the little bridge. "I like it. We should let Veras take a look one of these days." She turned to Jenna. "So what do you think? Is it familiar enough to you?"

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus smiled. "We should. I think she'd really like it. Maybe she could even show us a thing or two about engine maintenance... although I've done that sort of thing before, at least a time or two."

He chewed his lip a moment. "Besides... she's got a place here, if she wants it. Her and her father both, if it comes to that." Hopefully it wouldn't, but, well, Petrus was a worrier.

[Jenna Karath]

"I.. think so," Jenna said, catching up and letting down her bag behind the seat. Taking the seat she went through something of a pre-flight check, seeing if everything worked, and it all came back to her...


"You're gonna get yourself killed one day, Kid," the rougher, older Nautolan male said. Running through a pre-flight check up, getting his ship prepped to fly off. "Keep hitching rides on other people's ships, do that somewhere wrong and they're liable to shoot you. You know? You're lucky, you've got me here and not some other sleemo from another sector come to Coruscant for the money. Why'd you stow away, anyway? Coruscant has everything a being needs, 'specially a kid."

"Coruscant hasn't got nothin' I need, not anymore," a young Jenna said, watching him work.

"Yea, I can fly this.." she said, a small smile, "I'm not much of a pilot, but I can definitely get us from point A to B safely, so long as we don't do anything wild it should be fine.. might be needing to take lessons though," she glanced back, "with what we're probably going to be running from I don't think I'd be quite comfortable with my know-how as it is. Can always improve, anyway."

[Dapper Dog]

"So where's my room?" she asked looking at the controls.

[Petrus Karath]

"So where's my room?" she asked looking at the controls.

Chuckling, Petrus pointed back the way they'd come. "One of those cabins. I hear they're not bad. We can check them out next if you want. Call dibs on the one you want, which side, upper or lower."

[Xanna Teevou]

"Well, if you want a cool room you probably want one of the lower ones. Then you have a ladder to slide down." She smiled. "Do not worry, you get a cabin of your own. Just, please do not smoke on board. Fires and space are a bad combination." Her thoughts turned to alarm klaxons and a droid army ambush. "Trust me on this."

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus chuckled. "Why don't we go check them out? Clearly we need to settle the rooms before we do anything else."

He led the way back around, to where they'd passed the rooms earlier, and into that corridor. Two refreshers were at the end of the hall, with two ladders on each side of it, leading both up and down to the cabins. They were tight, but cozy, with beds, enough space to stand up (although Sloan would have to watch it), and room for personal items, if not a whole cloak wardrobe.

Petrus lingered, arms crossed and smiling pleasantly, looking to see what the others would pick.
