[D5EA] You Kids Really Dig the Library

Vaya rubbed her eyes and gently massaged her antennapalps, looking from her datapad to the library console. So many questions. She reviewed her notes.
-Supposedly there was an incident in the Aznuri Enclave months ago with a smuggler crew who claimed to have a map to some temple on the moon

-Swoopwings can be lured by cucklu fish

-storm troopers they will follow orders if given to them but don't follow people outside their chain of command unless expressly directed. It could be they are keeping Sister Tirali in line but the way they responded she seems to be in charge.

-Commander Poule looks old enough to have been a part of the Republic military before transitioning to the Imperial military but otherwise he seems on the level but also Spec Ops tend to draw in the folks who are here to do the job and follow commands to the best of their ability and often asked to do things that are well violent and dangerous.
The Chaldi had mentioned enemies. She would like a landing zone, allies, and would prefer to not have to catch her own swoopwings. She began looking in to the Anzuri tribes that surrounded the Chaldi, taking in to account what she had learned from Sinnya the day before.

Ooc: knowledge (outer rim? Xenology?), researcher decreases time by 50%, so I might ask other questions this thread if that's okay!

Also I don't know if Google search history is a thing, but Vaya has become conscious that she's using public terminals for her secret research, so if a computers check to cover tracks would be good let me know.

Verse had accompanied Vaya to the library, even though she didn't consider herself very likely to be of much help. She was never too good with the part of the Code that preferred knowledge over ignorance, after all. Still, she'd help however she could of course.

In fact, she was already pressing buttons! It might seem she was just pressing random ones for the hell of it, but no! She was actually trying to help Vaya to look stuff up. She was so helpful.

"Hey, I found something on... oh never mind. This is about Wookie mating rituals."

OOC: Xenology or Lore at Average get a boost for all the work with the Aznuri. Computers at Average to cover tracks.

Hacking into systems was part of Jenna's repertoire, and so when Vaya had mentioned the she might need to borrow some things Jenna declined. Instead, she offered herself along and with her know-how and expertise she was on hand to make sure to clean up after their little investigation.

"Save that," Jenna said to Verse, walking about the room over toward where Vaya was.

"Figure a kid like you can find some use for it, somehow," she said, putting herself in front of the console and getting to work at the data entry, "you know, for like a distraction or something?" she smirked over the top of the terminal.

Pulling up her sleeve she plugged in with her assortment of tools, pre-coded instructions flooded into the system and Jenna watched carefully to make sure everything happened as it should. Separating their terminal from only key parts of the system, those that tracked what they were searching and used along with those that might report on their activity.

With admin access she quickly worked to set up some catches, safety nets, for their impending searches. They'd have a warning if anyone was starting to attempt to break their veil of secrecy, a admin alert would display and sound immediately.

"Heh," she vocalized, a suppressed chuckle, "I'm in," she said with a stupid grin, the child she was when she learned these skills was silently cheering her on from the past.

"Focus, Verse," said Vaya. As she typed, she worked Verse as an unpaid research assistant, monitoring running search algorithms, going all around the library for physical media, and getting the caf. She took excited notes in shorthand on an ever-expanding array of flimsy.

D5EA Research the first -- (Average Xenology, Verse 'helping'): 1eP+3eA+1eB+2eD 3 successes, 2 advantage

Edit: happy to take the advantage as more useful details, or a single boost to deploy at some point wrt Anzuri (in addition to the blanket boost from passing)?

The best part of this job were the perks of showing up and everyone looking surprised you were there, truly no one expects the Inquisitorious. The Inquisitor spoke in his calm mechanical voice, “Papers, documents… now. If you run we shoot, simple?”

“Form a line, now.”

A dozen storm troopers fan out and start ushering people into a queue as the Inquisitor found a suitable table to conduct these impromptu interviews. He set down a holo-viewer that had Oraka’s face and reward next to it.

OOC: Destiny flipped.

Could they have? No, no they couldn't, she was sure of her handiwork. When the Stormtroopers rushed in to usher them out of the room and toward the line Jax composed herself, she was confident in her work that it was untraced.

Now.. it was merely a matter of finding out why an Inquisitor suddenly appeared here of all places. Chances were she was going to find that out, in detail, real soon.

The Inquisitor gestured and some unseen force pulled Jenna to the front of the line and set her down on the opposite side of the table. A chair moved out by itself and he said, “Please have a seat.”

“Your name, now.”

OOC: Move used successfully on Jenna.

Vaya casually cleared her console and locked down her datapad. Her pulse raced, and she tried to remember what Petrus had told her to sort Jedi myth from facts. Oh druk. Can he read my thoughts? Is he reading my thoughts RIGHT NOW? Don't think about the secret Jedi temple on the moon... No, DON'T think about... kriff.

Vaya was much better at remaining outwardly calm than controlling her innermost thoughts. Her scandocs were all in order, after all. She looked at Verse, her face turned away from the Imperials, and raised her eyebrows. You okay? She didn't know what she would do if the answer was no.

Oh no, this was bad. At least it didn't seem to be the female inquisitor... that was good. But, well. Not... good... at... all.

Not fancying her chances talking to the inquisitor, she decided to try and be... very quiet, and very unseen.

(stealth?)

OOC: Stealth at Average with a setback for them actively looking for people.

Verse was very sneaky. If 'sneaky' meant being easily detectable, that was.

"Line? Oh no, I'm not here for the booksigning so feel free to take my place if you were trying to be courteous and hold my place in line. That's super nice, but not necessary."

"Get in line."

"Well, if you insist, but this is no way to promote a book."

She slowly; as slowly as she could get away with; complied. Making use of whatever little time it bought her to look around and see if there were any good escape routes in case she needed to run.

Vaya smiled fixedly and whispered urgently at Verse, while looking back and forth from her to the troopers with a very real growing panic that she hoped read as "Oh no I'm standing next to a crazy person who's not complying as ordered."

"Listen very carefully..." she muttered, and shared a funny story about drunken undergrad hijinks in a library.

D5EA Valuable Checkpoint Facts (knowledge: education for library layouts): 1eP+3eA+2eD 1 success, 3 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImage

A floating Triumph, and 2 advantage on any PC's check "in the next round." Since we're not in combat that'll probably apply to any immediate checks, and since we're not in the front of the line that probably gets lost. Use my advantage to give Verse a boost on whatever she does next, and one more to... notice something?

Convinced of the merit of the 'plan' by Vaya, Verse pushed over one of the shelves.

"Oops," she said, watching the domino shelves fall.

Oh Kriff, oh kriffing kriff, what the kriffing kriff the kriff was that, Jenna's mind went through the whirlwind. If one recalled how little she enjoyed when someone else was flying because she wasn't in control they knew very well how much she did not enjoy that, not in the slightest.

For a moment, as the chair slid out, "What the.." she stopped, catching a breath and trying to calm the shaking of her hands. "I.. I... I'm.." she stammered. Catching herself, she held one wrist with her other hand and closed her eyes for a breath, playing it with a smooth lie was out of the question with her nerves shot as they were, even if that wasn't a good idea anyway, "Jenna Karath, my name is Jenna Karath."

Then, well, the domino's happened.
