Yulani replied, “At ease.” She glanced at her datapad and then said, “In six hours we will be launching Operation Shen Rancor. Your mission will be to lead the attack on the Bone Pickers, these pirates will know there is a price to be paid for defying the Empire.”
“Captain, I expect nothing less than success from your squadron.”
Beck responded, “Yes, ma’am. Valkyrie Squadron will find success or die trying, ma’am!”
“I prefer these rebels to die,” she said lightly. She then turned and said, “Dismissed.”
Captain Beck said, “Valkyrie Squadron, dismissed. Report back here for Mission brief at 2300 hours. Lt. Wiggs, you have the command.”
She then followed after the Admiral and said, “Ma’am, permission to speak freely?”
Yulani didn’t look up as she walked with her command staff and said, “Granted.”
“If I may be frank, why are we rounding up these dissidents and then not executing them or moving them off world for processing on some penal colony? Seems like a waste of time and resources,” she said tersely.
“Orders from the Inquisitorius, and despite my objections they still hold some operational authority, Captain,” the Admiral responded. “Therefore I expect you to carry them out.”
“Yes, ma’am, just wanted to voice my concern,” Beck responded.
“Acknowledged, get some rest Captain you have a long night of you,” Yulani finished as she continued her walk back to the command deck. She clicked through images of Dove meeting with various people and added quietly, “Your move, Agent Gray.”
