Sacha sighed as their examined a circuit board. A quality part... They might be able to adapt it to the inner workings of their armor...

"Finding anything useful?" He called as they walked around a down starfighter whose make and model stopped being produced over a hundred years ago. They had settled into a comfortable silence for a while as they scrounged but Dak was feeling chatty again.

"Yeah a few pieces here and there I suppose. Not the most lucrative trip I've ever made but I wouldnt call it a waste of time either." He walked over and squat near her looking through pile of junk nearby "So howd you get into being an armorer?"

She sighed. "Yeah... Well, every little bit chips away at the goal," she replied, shaking her head. "My advantage is my mind. I am also... community-minded, I guess you'd say."

"Hmm interesting, a life dedicated to service and craft. I can respect that." Dak said thoughtfully while he sifted "So what is the end goal with this scavenging?"

"To become more than an apprentice, I need to make my own armor," she explained before adding, almost automatically, "This is the Way."

"Huh well that's one way to make sure you're ready I suppose. Why Bankor though? I mean surely there are other planets with bigger Mandalorian populations." He inquired

"There are, but I need to expand my horizons," she explained. "Understand our place in the galaxy, what it has been and could be."

He nodded "makes sense I suppose, it's a big galaxy out there but honestly during my travels it seems like people are mostly the same. Different cultures, different customs but the underlying behavior is all very similar. But that's just my take on it all." He said tossing some ruined leather aside.

"Mm... I think people have very similar fundamental motivations. The different ways we try to fulfill those changes a lot, though," she replied thoughtfully as she sorted through an especially large pile of discarded metal. "The different ways our societies say we should try to fulfill them."

He was quiet for a moment before shrugging "I couldnt say, I'm not what most people call smart. Big questions about what causes people to do what are left to bigger brains than mine. I just notice patterns and things, always been clever I think would be the right word."

"Clever is good. There are different kinds of smart."

"Fair enough, I didnt survive for 4 years in the field being stupid." He said casually as he flipped through some seeming useless junk "but I like smart people, smart people see things differently, the think of things I don't. Smart people have saved my furry ass more times than I can count."

"Yeah... Me, too. Helps when people listen to them," she mused, sitting back in a crouch for a moment. "Problem is when it's all subconscious, and you're sure of something because of that, but you can't point to something solid and say, 'that's why I think that'. You just end up sounding like a crazy person."

Dak nodded "I learned early on trust in a smart persons gut instinct, like yeah it helps if you have some actual like evidence or intel but I've learned in the field that good instincts are just as valuable as good intel."

"Yes..." She agreed with a small nod. "I can see why they'd be harder to trust, at the same time, but... Frustrating."

Dak nodded looking around "So you're an apprentice armorer, warrior, and history buff. You're a mando of many talents Ordo." He said with an appreciative tone.

She chuckled. "I think of them as just one, since all that's a part of the first one. Just like an armorer protects the physical body of a Mandalorian, the armorer protects the heart and soul. Which, despite fair evidence to the contrary, we do have."

Now Dak smiled in earnest exposing sharp teeth "Ahh so you do laugh, I was starting to wonder if you suffered from a terminal case of no humor." He thought for a moment "So your profession serves a pretty dang important part of your society?"

"Ouch, that hurts," she replied, shaking her head. "Yes... It's a central role in traditional communities. It's an honor to pursue it."

"Oh did I wound the mighty mandalorian with a little good humored jab? For an armored you are awfully soft if that's the case." He listened to the rest of what she said and nodded "makes sense of a kind, someone who provides all that to their community has a pretty giving spirit."

She actually laughed. "Yes. You wound me deeply. How shall I recover?" She slapped a hand over her chest plate dramatically. "It's something that the more group-minded of us pursue. Most of us are pretty independent. I wanted to help all of us more. Things aren't great with multiple schisms, and they're bound to get worse, I think."

His mischievous smirk emerged again "I hear licking wounds is rather helpful in recovery. Let me know if you need any help with that." He finished with a wink.
"Hmmm I suppose it's pretty cool that you decided to go into it then."
