[D3 EA] The Scrap that Brings Us Closer

The deep wastes are a dangerous place littered with the rusting sun baked wrecks of starships many dating back to the height of the Clone Wars.

[D3 EA] The Scrap that Brings Us Closer

Post by Jurdak Surt » Sat Feb 01, 2020 8:18 am

Dak was having a good day so far, the job this morning went off without too many hitches. He contacted Sacha and asked if she wanted to do some more salvaging today she agreed and so at the time they talked about he pulled up in front of where she was staying in his brand new, only lightly used speeder. The vehicle was a lovely shade of purple with blue and pink bubble style letters that read Baby's Bootie Blaster on the side. Many would balk at owning such a vehicle but Dak bore it with pride. He was simply happy to have some kind of good transportation.

Sacha had him meet her a ways away from her home, and waved when he arrived. "That's a heck of a paint job you got there."

Dak shrugged a bit with a happy smile on his lips "Hey gets me from point A to point B and I got one hell of a deal on it. I'll probably get it redone soon enough but I have other more technical issues I want to address first." He said as they sped out to the ship graveyard.

"Nah, to be honest, it's kind of great in its own way," she replied, shaking her head. "You should totally keep it."

He gave her sort of a sidelong glance with a bit of surprise in his eyes "huh now I certainky did not expect you to get a kick out of this. You usually act so serious all the time, I suppose there are some layers to you yet Ms Ordo." He said smiling as the exited Rygor and entered the countryside around it heading toward the Shatter

"How serious I am depends on how well someone's gotten to know me, and it what context," she replied airily. "I agreed to watch a trashy, badly researched soap opera about my own people later today." She got out and followed him toward the wrecks.

"Huh" Dak said as they walked "I learn more about you every time we hang out. Though I suppose that is how spending time together works."

He looked around for a bit at the spot they were in "This one seems about as good as any. Let's see what we can find today." Though despite a thorough combing of the area it seemed that very little scrap would be found today.

The area seemed to be mostly empty husks, but they would look anyway. "It's true. Unless someone could read minds, I guess. They'd get to know someone pretty quick."

The Bone Pickers fire warning shots at the duo and then a group approach, six in total on desert riding beasts.

Their leader a helmeted woman said, “Still these are our lands, you owe the King tribute.”

“You have a name scav?” Her beast seemed restless as she waited for a reply.

"Say that I do, what do I have to gain by telling you?" He asked boldly, he knew better than to be cowed by these thugs. Outnumbered 3 to 1 was bad odds their beasts might be a problem too but those are usually scared away fairly easily.

"What is it you demand for tribute?" He asked with a hand on the strap to his rifle ready to arm himself if needed.

"It depends... the King loves good drink or things of value, or service," she said with a smile beneath her helmet.

Oh great... Sacha turned and stared at the people through her helmet, just listening for now.

He looked to Sacha for a moment before turning back to the gathered pickers "Well I dont have any drink on me, nothing of value I'm willing to part with." He paused and smiled up at the pickers "and your king cant afford my services."

“As you say, scav,” she responded.

“All the same you may remain but if we see you again we will assume you mean insult to the King. I suggest you seek his audience sooner than later or we shall have to have words, yes?”

One of the many benefits of wearing a face-concealing helmet all the time was that no one could see you roll your eyes. "Of course."

Dak lowered himself in an ostentatious bow with a bit of flourish "Of course, I would not dream of such a thing. I will go to see your king at my earliest convienece."
