[Day 6 - EN] There can only be None!

There can only be None

Top of the Hypermatter Executive Tower

The Inquisitor looked at the assembled dissidents… many were a who’s who of Bankor and were the worst of the worst. He had not made this happen, was the Admiral? Was she trying to show him up… it didn’t matter he had decided he wanted none of this but he was unsure if he could stop. Maybe this was destiny.

A most public execution, it was surely something that seemed like what 13th Sister would do but she was nowhere to be seen.

OOC: This thread is open to four players including a pilot using a stolen Imperial transport to make a last ditch effort to stop the execution if possible. It's not a smart plan but damn it, it’s dramatic!

He looked down the row to see Yusandr, Mahon... and many other notable resistance agents.

She had felt the tremor through the force. Valus needed her. Mahon needed her. The Resistance needed her. So she had volunteered almost before the request had been made.

As the transport approached the tower she patted her saber and the pack of stims. There was not much point in anything else. Either Valus would see his opportunity, or she would have to fight him. She contemplated those options quietly before looking around at the rest of the squad.

((I would like to volunteer Floats for this suicide mission if possible))

"Jeez, two suicide missions in two days, this resistance stuff is real habit forming, ain't it?"
Floats stretched in her new and improved laminate armour, Astin really was the bees knees. Maybe if she wasn't horribly killed today she could send him a bottle of space bourbon

"So we're gonna go in, free everyone, get out? Any complications we just sorta...figure it out as we go? I'm all down for that."

It was all her fault. Kriffin' bantha poodoo... it was all her fault. It wasn't often Dove felt riddled with guilt or shame, but this time she did. She had failed to prevent this.

And now she was going to risk her life to make it right. He hadn't killed her last night... but maybe he'd do it tonight. If it meant she saved some people, it would be worth it.

Force be with us, huh... would be nice if that was true now.

She checked her gear one more time.

She owed a fair bit to Yusandr; getting her out of prison duty. Backing a rescue mission to go save Qareme and the others. And of course leading the resistance, which was a pretty big deal in these dark times. She; and the others of course; needed to be saved now. Besides, even ignoring all of that, the Empire was going to start public executions now? No way. Not going to happen while Verse was around.

So there she was, about to embark on another stupid plan-that-wasn't-a-plan-at-all.

Time to go be heroic.

The transport moved quickly over the desert they had... maybe fifteen minutes before arrival maybe less.

OOC: Who is piloting the bird?

"That sounds like the plan we have." She nodded at Floats. "Please all of you, let me deal with the Inquisitor. I... In another life I knew him. I think I can reach him."

She looked off into the distance. "But if I cannot, do not wait for me. Rescue the prisoners, that is the priority."

OOC: Not Xanna!

((No way is Floats flying this thing, it probably doesn't even float))

"Oh shoot, I was just spitballing, that's our plan?"
Slightly smug "First resistance plan I've come up with, this is a big day for me. Miss Xanna, I hope you can talk tall dark and angsty down. But if he's hellbent on his ways, and those ways include mass executions, you don't hang around, alright?"

"... I believe you can," Dove added in, for the moment trying to focus on flying the bird and not whatever feelings she had. "Come here, Blue. There's something I need to tell you."

OOC: I guess Dove is the flier!

"Are you sure?" She looked at Xanna with some concern. "If he's lost, then facing him alone... you might need my help."

Meanwhile back at the tower as it began to rain the Inquisitor felt his presence before he saw him.

The moment he had wanted all this time and now he dreaded it.

A flash of lightning and Oraka was there behind the Inquisitor. He spoke calmly as the rain fell, “I am here, Valus. I should have come sooner, and I am sorry.”

She nodded to the others. "It is not a fight that can be won with a lightsaber, but I must try."

Curious she moved up to the pilot and leaned in. "What did you want to tell me Dove?"

Dove really hoped this wouldn't be a fight. She didn't want to fight him, but if she had to... no, she had to stay focused on saving the prisoners.

"He told me to bring you a message, even if I don't understand it," she swallowed nervously. "He said; tell her broken things can be mended, but they never forget."

Her pale eyes stayed focused on the sky out the window. "I hope that means something good for this upcoming encounter..."

She had steeled herself for the worst. She breathed out, somewhat relieved. "I... thank you Dove. I think, there is still hope. Maybe I really can reach him again." It only had to be one more time after all. He would have to make his choice in the here and now.

She placed a hand on Dove's shoulder and squeezed it before returning to the others. "There is a chance. I will take it. But if he cannot be saved, that is the will of the force."

"Do what you have to do," she said, "we have seen the signs there is hope. But if it comes to it don't expect us to just cut and run, leaving you behind."

Valus turned to face his old master, “Irony.”

“I have longed to see you old Master, everyday I pictured your face… the things I would say, and show you just how strong the Dark Side has made me.”

Oraka replied calmly, “I have always told you Valus, Destiny is a choice. Evil is a choice.”

“Trust your instincts, inside… you know what is right.”

That hit home. A single tear rolled down her cheek. "I... of course. I would not leave that on your conscience. We all go home together."

With a determined nod she walked over and gave each of them a hug. "For luck. Now, there will certainly be guards. See if you can free the prisoners while I try to talk him down. May the Force be with us."

"If we just focus on what's right, well, then we got as good a shot as any. Nobody is ever completely lost, just mostly. A redhead told me that and he was a real wise Jedi."

A little surprised at Xanna's hug, but she will squeeze back tightly...nobody hugs a Floats without getting one back
Determinedly"May the force be with us."

Valus removed the helmet, “I already have, Master.”

Tears came down his cheeks as he closed them and said, “I have done terrible things.”

Oraka was relieved and then he felt it… the searing pain of a lightsaber ripping through his chest... it would have been fatal if not for that small bit of cortosis weave.

Valus shouted in surprise as the lightsaber flew back into the hands of the Elder Brother, materialized from the shadows.

Dove accepted the hug, or as much as it could be a hug and acceptance of it as she was flying the craft.

"... I didn't know him that long, but... last I saw of him, he seemed different. Conflicted maybe." A pause. He hadn't seemed like the overly confident man she first met. But she didn't know what the relationship with Xanna was for him. And it wasn't something she felt like poking.

It was just a job. Just a job. Right. Though she knew she felt sympathy for him.

"It won't be long now. Hang on. Check your gear one more time, ladies."
