"Of course," she said. Everyone always wanted to be careful. "Just, let me know when. I mean, I *think* I did okay in the fight, but there's so much of my training that I've let gone to waste these past few years, you know?"

[Petrus Karath]

"I will." Petrus said, nodding solemnly. For a little while, he focused on eating, careful bites, unlike his more usual barely not a teenager style.

He paused, sighing. "Why do you think they attacked the Aznuri?"

[Verse Aura]

"I think it's to find what the Aznuri call the 'Calm'. It's... well I'm not entirely sure I understand it, but apparently the Jed...the Jays came to this world long ago, and cleansed a place of great evil. And then that became the Calm, and it is where their ancestors go and live on through it. They're very protective of it."

[Dapper Dog]

"I mean it's their turf so yeah they want to protect," Liua added.

[Verse Aura]

"It's not just about being their turf, it's a place of the Light. The Empire would destroy it just for that."

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus nodded glumly. "Of course. The Empire does seem to be doing its best to stamp out whatever light it can. I suppose we'll have to wait until after the dust clears to see if they succeeded or not."

He frowned, looking back and forth between his two dining partners. "Were either of you hurt? I've heard there's a clinic nearby here."

[Dapper Dog]

"I've had worse," Liua responded.

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus looked at her blandly. "Yeah, I'll bet." He said. "So, you need the clinic? Or at least a stim?" He smiled. "Jays look out for each other, you know."

[Dapper Dog]

"Jays are tough too, I'll be fine, Petrus," she said narrowing her eyes. "But... thanks for asking, I guess."

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus flashed her a quick smile before turning back to Verse.

"What about you? From the old days I remember, I wouldn't be surprised to find out you've been nursing a bleeding leg wound under the table this whole time. Clinic? Although I don't know how good it is. It's supposed to be new."

[Verse Aura]

"I like her," she said; totally deadpan; "it's about time we got some more tough people into the Jed... the Jays."

She was totally ignoring the whole 'are you hurt' question.

"Did he tell you about that time when this Gomorrean came to visit us on Coruscant to oversee our endurance training?"

[Dapper Dog]

"You lived on Coruscant!?" she asked with surprise.

[Verse Aura]

"Well yeah, that's where most of the Jay's did their training, he didn't tell you?"

[Dapper Dog]

"Well yeah, that's where most of the Jay's did their training, he didn't tell you?"

She mouthed to Petrus, 'De-mot-ed'. "Please tell me about Petrus and his adventures on the Core, since he decided not to tell me."

[Petrus Karath]

"Hahahaha..." Petrus' laughter was definitely a little forced. "Verse, I don't think we need to tell that story, do we?"

He stepped on what he hoped was her foot underneath the table.

[Dapper Dog]

"Yes... yes we do," she said sweetly to Verse. Well sweetly for Liua.

[Verse Aura]

"Ow, you can't intimidate me Petrus," she said, still deadpan. "We both know who the tougher one of us is. Or do we need to prove it with another twenty mile run like back then?"

She looked toward Liua

"He couldn't handle it, he collapsed mid--"

There was... presumably... another kick on her foot to get her to shut up.

"--I mean, I guess it was before the war and everything so *maybe* he's tougher now."

[Dapper Dog]

"I think Xanna is the only cool Jay... well her and Sloan," she replied rolling her eyes at the awful story.

[Verse Aura]

"Hey, I'm *very* cool. I totally beat that inquisitor," she said, then realized she was being too loud.

"I mean, that inquisitor," she said, whispering the word inquisitor again because that was totally smart. "That's pretty cool, right? I even did a bunch of backflips while doing it."

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus reddened, smiling sheepishly, but it seemed like the story would pass without too much comment. "Of course you did." He said, shaking his head at Verse.

He sighed. "I hate to be a huge dork, but we probably shouldn't judge facing down bad people based on how cool it is. We do it because it's the right thing to do. Like helping the Aznuri. Saving people."

[Dapper Dog]

"Yeah Petrus is right, I guess," she agreed.

"I beat up people too, don't see me bragging about it."

[Petrus Karath]

"Score one for the junior assistant dishwasher." Petrus murmured, smiling just a little.

[Verse Aura]

Her eyes widened. Her devious plan to get the kid's approval backfired!

"But... but... maybe it was a *little* cool too? Maybe?"

She took another bite from her greasy meal, wondering where she'd gone wrong in her approach.

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus smiled gently. "I'm sure it was. But it's more important that it was right."

His smile grew. "Besides, don't you know that in order to be cool, you can't care if you're cool or not? It's how I do it." He brushed one hand casually back through his red hair. Making fun of me being a dork will probably make Liua feel better, anyway.

[Verse Aura]

Here's my chance.

"Uhuh," she said, raising a brow. "Like that time you puked up your lunch all over that Gamorrean's boots and tried to act like nothing'd happened. It *almost* worked."
