Spiking drinks is bad, but spiking towers... [EM1]

In the shedding darkness of industrial morning, amid the sea of what the so-called civilisation had regurgitated and kept pretending it wasn't of its doing, three ghosts were converging, coming from different directions...

Vaya had mixed feelings, moving through the predawn light and hearing the noises of the crackdown -- walkers, speeders, shouting, pounding on doors, the occasional sound of a stun blast. That was a stun blast, right? It reminded her a little too much of hearing the research team's security detail evicting that village near the dig site on... one of the earlier planets they had investigated. It hadn't been the first village that'd "had to" be cleared out, but it was the last one Vaya made the mistake of being in earshot of while it happened, if she had any choice about it.

She had her hair (and antennapalps) in a simple workingbeing's kerchief, her clothes indistinguishable from any other worker coming home from a graveyard shift, or heading out to start the day at the Foundry. She met the other two in a patch of shadow.

"I asked around, and I think I found us a good place to start, two blocks over. It had a walker, but word is it's been pulled past this point..."

The walker stomped directly past them, the vibrations from its footsteps coming up through the soles of their boots. Vaya gulped.

"Or, uh, to about this point. No problem." She leaned in, filling her voice with more confidence than she felt. "But remember, I agreed to do this with you two on conditions." She held out a finger. "One, I get first dibs." She held out another, pointed, in an example of faking too much confidence, within biting distance of Daunt. "Two, no eating people." She put out a third finger, aimed less aggressively at Dak. "Third, no gun totin'."

She backed off a little, and passed her ascension gun to Daunt. "You're up, I think."

Daunt, in turn, passed it to Dak. "He's lighter. Also, your life is awfully procedural, Vaya. Besides, I don't shoot. I cleave." He said in calm whisper, getting ready to give the Cathar a leg-up.

"What can I say I keep it tight." He said as he took the gun and used it to get an eagle eyed view of the surroundings sneakingquietly across rooftops toward their objective. The Balosar wasnt very clear about the tower they were hitting but Dak thought he had a pretty good idea.

From his vantage point Dak could overwatch the progress of the others and point out things as they got to the tower to help.

Daunt retraced Dak's route, just across the ground, being slightly better than the Balosar of staying quiet and hidden. Once at the bottom of it, he looked where antennapalps should have been. "Looks like it's time to give you a leg-up. I'll stay down here, just in case."

Vaya paused for a moment on the threshold of the communications tower. Nothing that she'd done before that point was really a crime... well, if you don't count conspiracy, which is hard to prove, anyway. And possession of the dataspike, which was definitely contraband. But besides those two things, stepping over the threshold into the tower would be the first really illegal thing she'd done tonight.

She jerked forward without ceremony, found the slot, and slipped in the spike, and sighed. She turned around to the other two. "Well, that's one down, fellas. Let's..." The spike spat sparks, and a quiet, insistent beeping started, not yet an alarm, but the herald of an alarm to come. She spun around, staring at the spike. "Not really very like research database search optimization..." she muttered, tapping a few keys, staring at the output, ripping the dataspike out, rotating it 120 degrees, and slamming it back home. The beeping stopped, and the dataspike began whirring and blossoming.

"Uh, let's get on with it," she finished lamely.

"Where next?" Daunt asked once both his companions were down to the ground level again.

Vaya took special care with the next one, eager to avoid the trouble and embarrassment of nearly getting stepped on by the walker she was in the process of declaring several blocks away. She pulled out an odd set of binocs, pressing them to walls before even getting as far as peering around corners. When they arrived at the second tower, it lay open and empty for them, and she had all the time in the world to adjust the spike without walker-tremors jogging her hand.

"I have a good feeling about this," she declared, knocking her handkerchief askew while mopping sweat from her brow. She turns to Daunt, who seemed at best grimly dutiful about his duties looming as lookout and contributing brute muscle to hefting and hauling his smaller teammates up and around. "Hey, fun fact about Imperial patrol patterns...."

"...is that they leave a blank spot in the midst of an extended perimeter. Which we have just crossed." Daunt nodded, acknowledging her thinking.

"I'll handle this one. I saw how you did it. You can be the lookouts for a change." He pulled the hood and started to pace, quietly enough to escape notice. Using a roof of fallen building as a launching pad, he ejected himself into air and grabbed the railing at the level of control panel of the tower. Right after the black blot on the colours of sunrise ascended over the boundary and pulled off the shielding to insert the spike. It went in smoothly, without disturbing the rhythm of the lights on it... or so he thought.

One hop off and he was already darting off in a different direction than them. They could congregate later, for now escaping the Imperial dogs was the priority.

The job done and reunited in the shadows, Vaya gave them both a little salute. "Nice working with you, folks. I'm going to make myself scarce. Don't let the ImpSec bite." And with that, she was off.

Dak smiled wide hitting all three targets in quick succession and no Imperials were any the wiser. A good day indeed "Welp whatever sort of test was being done I'd say we've certainly passed."

"I'm hungry." Daunt chuckled dryly. "Your prohibition of eating has just ended, Vaya."
