Message In The Wind (D1, LE, Hole In The Wall)

Even the slums had its watering holes and drinking places. And none of them fancy. Some of them didn't even have a good music system, but that just meant there were opportunities for live music, where all sorts of people with varying degrees of talents got up to share.
Sometimes that meant listening to factory workers play
on an eclectic selection of instruments, thankfully this time with a good result. The ones she heard last week hadn't been nearly as good. Or maybe it was the same group, and they had just improved.
With her guitar strapped to her back, Dove stood by the bar, drinking the cheap booze as she watched the mood of the clientele.
A Hole In The Wall water hole was a good place to get a read on the temperature of the populace. Especially on a day like today where she heard an Inquisitor had landed on the planet.

Nothing like honest labour, some would say. While many of Bowze's species would have scoffed at such a statement, he might just have begun understanding what that meant.
After a day of work it was also customary for the proles to refresh themselves, he also understood. That he was quite happy to oblige.
Making his way to this establishment's bar he ordered their local brew and took a seat. The drink was...interesting.

"Now this is more my speed. Hopefully they'll do something like the cantina back home." Jabber steadies himself, taking a few swaying hops before jumping up onto a high seat at the bar.
"Get me something dirty in a clean class." He tells the bartender, his signature for ordering. Jabber casts his eyes around the room as he waits for a drink. Back home there was always someone ready to tell you how little they liked you, and dodging that wasn't something you'd soon forget.
He spies a familiar figure, a Neimoidian "Hey, how'd you work out?"

It wasn't every day you saw a Jawa. At least not on Bankor.
And it had certainly been a couple of years since we saw someone like Bowze. "..." Dove looked pensively across the room at the Neimodian, working on trying to place where she'd seen him before. Some might say that all xenos looked alike, but there was something else...
Well, wouldn't you know. It's a small galaxy after all... she smirked knowingly.
"Let the drink for the guy with the funny eyes be on me, barkeep," she passed the credits to the guy working the taps and slid over to Bowze.
"Don't think I've seen someone like you around here on Bankor before, mister...?"

''Excuse me?'' Bowze turned to see where the voice was coming from, finally looking down at the Jawa ''Oh! Ah, yes you were there last night. The work was hard but I managed to make things work...you?''
Before a reply could be heard another seemed interested in making conversation, but it hinted at something that put him on guard
''Hum? It...it is my first time coming to this place...I am Bowze...maybe I fixed on your computer at some point?'' He had turned to reply to the woman but did not really look at her...he was scouting for the exits

"Ah, yes," she smiled easily, a friendly enough smile. "It must've been that, mister Eyes. After all, it's a small galaxy. You bump into familiar faces all the time."
Judging by her tone, she knew something, but seemed fine enough with playing along for now.
"The Jawa here your friend?"

"Friend? Nah, I'm just an acquaintance. You though..."
Jabber ogles the tall human in front of him, the act made more obvious by the almost half meter discrepancy in height.
"I could stand to get a lot friendlier with you."

She couldn't help but to laugh. Was a Jawa hitting on her?
"And here I thought a girl had to walk by twice to get a reaction," she snickered and took a sip from her glass. "Who are you, Cupcake?"

Bowze evalutated the situation. The female knew more, that was obvious and it was obvious she wanted him to know it.
He opted not to run away for his life for now

"With these legs, if you walked by twice, there's no way I could catch up! Eeeehehehe!" Jabber can't laugh but laugh too, used to not being taken seriously by most humans. "They call me Jabber, for how thoughtful, deliberate and quiet I am."

"Is that so? Quite the surprise, I say," she nodded, grinning at the rather suitable name. Least she could do was offer a handshake. "But seems like the name fits."
"You can call me Dove. Both of you. Good to be among friends, eh?" Bowze was given a pat on the shoulder.

"Likewise..." Jabber studies the woman's face for a moment as he shakes her hand. "Dove, eh? A beast that is always around explosions, if my taste in holovids is any judgement. Hey, Jon Coo has an aesthetic, man..."
Turning for a moment, he gestures back to the bartender to bring another round.
"So, what work are you in Dove? Ours..." He casts a look back over at Bowse, tilting his head in a quick upward nod. "I haven't seen you around, but I haven't been on planet so long that I know every mover and shaker."

Bowze tensed when the pat came. He was not sure about this woman's game put he'd rather take no chances...thankfully the jawa was there to make distraction.
''Friends, yes...''
One of his hands dropped below the counter with discretion

"Sure. Lots of explosions in my life, little guy," she chuckled and gestured to the barkeep for another drink with her now empty glass. Perhaps she was merely being sarcastic about the explosions in her life. "I don't get around to watching too many holos though."
Dove leaned leaned her back against the counter, tilting her head back slightly. "Me? Oh, guess you could call me a jack-of-all-trades, sort of. Musician occassionally, sometimes a courier - I did a lot of that kind of stuff before coming here, so it's easy work to pick up on Bankor. Sometimes I find people. All depends, really. I'm not a factory-type of gal, so I prefer to pick up jobs as they come along."
She gave the Jawa a curious look. "So what were you saying you two were working with? You two seem well acquainted."

Jabber shrugs a little. "I guess I'm the same way: Jack of Trades. Someone needs some work done at all hours, or a favor they don't want to take up with the Imp bureaucrats and stylus pushers on, I'm usually cheaper and quicker. That's how I met-" Jabber gestures to Bowse.
"Mutual client"

"Ah, I see. Makes sense." She nodded, understanding the cut of Jabber's jib. "I tend to prefer staying away the Imp bureaucrats and paper-pushers as well, if you cath my dift."
Having been given her new drink, she punctuated her sentence with a raised glass of cheap bourbon. "Too bad that Bankor seems to be crawling with them more and more these days, eh?"

"Bleeeach. Hurk!" Jabber makes a gagging sound of displease to join in with the first two as he nods in agreement to Doves distaste for the Imps.
"Well, they're good for business but I can't say that I'm happy to see them. The Republic never even tried to pretend they were the law back on Tatooine, it was the Hutts. The Empire... well, the Hutts are still in charge, but now you get it from both ends."

"Didn't know this Tattooine was part of the Republic," Dove shrugged. It had been a large Republic to keep track of, especially during the war when many worlds had been in flux.
"I'm from Tion myself. Used to be a Republic world." Used to be. The Tion Hegemony had joined in with the Separatist movement after the Battle of Geonosis. "Probably Imperial now. I haven't been back there for some time."

Bowze was drinking silently but he did catch the mention of Tion

There was a lull in the entertainment, as the band left the (makeshift and not at all impressive and tiny) stage. One of the workers gave a wave to Dove, letting her know she could have the spotlight.
"Ah, this is my cue, gentlemen. Be seein' ya 'round, eh?" she pointed a pair of fingerguns at Jabber.

"Hey ya'll," Dove greeted the patrons of the bar as she took the center. "I can't promise to be as loud as the band that just left, seeing as I only have one guitar, but I'll instead play something a little more quieter... which we could all need on days like today, and look to a better future."
A few moments to clear her throat, and a couple of notes tested on the guitar... then she was all set.
"There's a place beyond the furthest cloud
There's a message in the wind
And when you dream that big, you're not afraid to live
There's a place where all the stories begin
Begin with you and me
There's a place beyond the furthest cloud
There's a message in the wind
And when you dream that big, you're not afraid to live
There's a place where all the stories begin
Begin with you and me
Feels like the world is turning, a little bit too fast
Holding on to what I get to make this moment last
I'd rather paint the world bright than see in black and white
It's never too late to look up
There's a place beyond the furthest cloud
There's a message in the wind
And when you dream that big, you're not afraid to live
There's a place where all the stories begin
Begin with you and me
It may seem like forever but all hope's not gone
And when your melody stops playing, I hope you sing this song
I'd rather paint the world bright than see in black and white
It's never too late to look up
There's a place beyond the furthest cloud
There's a message in the wind
And when you dream that big, you're not afraid to live
There's a place where all the stories begin
Begin with you and me"

He waited until she was on the stage before he stood up to make his way out.
He left a number that barman could give her but that was all he could do for now. They had to talk...but not with the jawa around.
