Shadows of Bankor

Weggs’ home was more like a garage on the edge of the slums that had a good view of the desert, it was a large structure given mostly over to junk, scrap, and old vehicles and machinery. A droid followed the thick woman around as she worked to strip pieces of the transport, which was covered in a dirty tarp that used to be pink but was now some garish mismatch of black, brown and pinkish.

She said to the droid, “J3, this girl is going to sing when we are done.”

The droid beeped in a sassy and rolled around on it’s one wheel dodging a casual toss of her wrench.

“This time I am totally going to finish!”

To be honest it was about what Astin had been expecting when the young woman said garage and slums. Not that he wanted much more, there was plenty of useful stuff around here, especially if you took into account that for what they were doing most of it didn't even need to be functional.

"I'm sure we're gonna finish." Astin replied with a smirk, leaving out the playful wink as he was on his best behavior. "Two people get done twice the work right?" He added a moment later.

Weggs straightened up and looked surprised, “You came!”

“I mean, ahem, yeah I knew you would come,” she added playing it cool, “So how do you like my home?” She smiled and leaned on an old wreck of a speeder and blew some hair from her oil smudged face. Her clothes were similar to the trip but now smudged with oil and dirt as she tried to be alluring, or a facsimile there of.

Astin decided to overlook the obvious surprise, sometimes you had to let a Lady play it cool after all. "I like it." He replied after a few moments to look around. "It's got a comfortable feel to it."

He took a few steps towards the tarp, which conveniently took him a bit closer to Weggs as well. "Did you want to show me around a little, or get right to it?"

Her eyes got big and then said, "Yeah a tour... so as you can see this is my garage. And I converted an old transport into like a living space, want to see it? I mean of course you do it's a tour!"

"Yeah, that sounds nice." Astin replied as he moved to fall into step beside her, no reason to lag behind on a tour after all.

"I suppose I should ask who your friend is too." He offered indicating the droid she had been chatting with.

“Oh this old thing,” she gestured at the small droid scooting around. It beeped indignantly and she responded, “This is J3, well J3-RT, and it prefers Artee but I like J3.”

“I had an ex-boyfriend named Arnee and Artee is just too close to that and it gets weird so… anyway,” she said opening the door to show him her living space it was nice if cramped and packed full of tools, books, and a large collection plushy animals.

She closed the door quickly and said, “So should we get started, oh… unless you want food? Do I have food? I am pretty sure one of us should get food.”

"Nice to meet you J3." A polite nod was given to the droid. He'd likely call it Artee when Weggs wasnt around but J3 would do for now. You didn't want to remind a woman about her exes .

"We could always order delivery." Astin offered as he took stock of her room for the short time he had a view or it. "That way we could go ahead and get started."

J3 beeped a polite greeting.

Weggs agreed and then said, “So I am going to order, follow J3… and no funny stuff droid!”

She heads into her living area while the droid beeps at Astin to follow and through a series of beeps as it rolls around on its single wheel shows him where she has been working and complains about how she gets distracted and the droid is pretty opinionated with its beeping.

Weggs comes back out and said, “So you know your way around hypercast inducer right? Because this one is busted sixteen ways to Jaklu, probably from the crash and then the sand… then the storm… so yeah.”

“Gonna have to replace, probably pull one from another transport around here and then rebuild it… gonna be so awesome! Or it might explode. Only like 65% chance of that though, and I am rambling. Not that I am nervous, I show plenty of guys my garage… I mean not plenty like one, maybe two. My garage is really more like an exclusive place, no one comes in or out but me…”

She stopped and then gave him the finger guns and said, “Nice driving by the way.”

Astin nods along, he isnt completely fluent in beeping but we knows enough to get by and listen to a droids sad beeping at the bar. But only at bars that allow droids, there is sadly no beeping at the others.

"Could probably use a good scrubbing to get the sand out of a few other places it shouldn't be too." The Biker replied as Weggs arrived back. "But yeah, I know a few things about hypercast inducer's" He smiled as she chattered on before nodding in understanding. "A lady can't show just anyone her garage."

"Thanks!" He replied returning the finger guns and adding a playful wink. "Mostly learned to work of these things so I could drive em, so it worked out in the end."

She chewed her lip at his finger guns and then said, “Okay so I’m… ready… to get started!”

“J3 fetch my tools!” she commanded and then gestured him over to take a look and added, “So I think we will pull this and maybe replace that and you know see where the night takes us… you fine working on your… ahem, back?”

"I'm not to picky about where I'm working." He replied with a laugh. "Won't be the first time I'm on my back after all." Kneeling down to have a better look at where they were looking he smirked.

"Not like if I get tired of it we can't change positions either."

Her eyes got big and she gulped and said, "Yeah.”

She composed herself and got to work and after about thirty minutes they got the part replaced cleaned and ready to go and by the time it was back in that was when the delivery arrived. Curry and rice and some beers and fried chicken-lizard nuggets.

Weggs sat on a broken down speeder as she ate and was finishing a joke, “So that’s why monkey-lizards like to dance.”

“Get it… never mind,” she finished.

“So… totally unrelated but do you have a special someone back home you know, no big deal I mean I don’t but this is my home,” she offered and the droid beeped indignantly.

“Okay I have J3.”

“I am not trying to be nosy, I am married to my work… just so busy, swamped it wouldn't work any way… you’re an incredibly ho… hard worker and I am so lazy… wait.”

She decided eating was better.

"A special someone back home? He shook his head. "Nah, haven't been home in six or so years as it is. So not like anyone would still be waiting even if I had someone."

Taking a few bites of food, he smirked. "You dont seem nearly as lazy as you make yourself out to be. Worked just as hard as I did on the old girl after all." At least as far as he could see.

"So how did you find your way to the arse end of the galaxy?" she asked.

"Got tired of farming. Decided to try my hand at being a racer." He repleid with a shrug. "But justt having a bike doesn't really mean you can race and make yourself a fortune. Course foolish kids don't always look at the various problems with their plans."

“You have a racing speeder?” she asked

“I want to see this, I bet it is way fast.”

He smirked. "I have a speeder and I used it in Races." Astin replied with a chuckle.

"She used to be pretty damn fast too." He shook his head. "But I've had to sell off all the upgraded parts I bought. Still I can show you if you still want to see."

“Whoa… used to, okay hotshot, I am not dating a guy with a speeder with no guts… not that I would date you but we got to spend some time turning your speeder into a crotch rocket, I like to go fast!” she exclaimed.

“On speeders,” she added apologetically.

"I figured that's what you were meaning." He replied with a sly wink. "I do recall you're a lady after all."

He nodded his head towards where he had parked his bike. "Well why don't we go see her and figure out if there is something we can do with her over the next few days then?"

She nodded and followed.

It wasn't a far walk to his bike, it had been parked in one of the safe places in the slums. "Well here she is." Astin offered as he gestured to his speeder.

It was a standard bike by the look of it, though well cared for.

She crouched down and rattled off the specs and checked it over and by the end she nodded and said, “Yeah I think we got some parts around here… she’s kept up nice but I am so sad you had to get rid of all those nice little upgrades.”

“Just have to work on her! New project,” she announced. “J3 clear my schedule.”

The droid beeped with annoyance.

“What… okay nearly clear my schedule.”

"Galaxy isn't exactly a nice place, especially when you're a bit young and new to it's ways." Astin offered with a shrug. "Still will be nice to have her back in racing condition again. Though I'm not sure there will be any races round here anytime soon."

He smirked. "And thanks for offering to help. Though we might want to finish up the old boat back at your shop first. That is if there is anythign else you think needs to be done."

"Clear my schedule again J3, yeah we need to get that crate fixed up too," she sighed.

"I need more hands."
