Hunting the Sand Demon
Event Type: Side Event, Combat
Participants: 4 players
Timeslots: Late Afternoon
Description: The Sand Demon is a notorious gangster, and Vandil has eliminated most of her enemies but this is the last one on the list that needs to go. She has hired you to do a dangerous day time raid to show him that he is never truly safe and kill this man in the name of the Hutts.
Are you a bad enough dude or dudette to kill the Sand Demon?
Rules: This is a combat event and the Sand Demon knows you are coming, the players begin at Medium range the street has a few decrepit non-functional vehicles as cover and the Sand Demon is holed up in a three story apartment building, and yes there are civilians caught in this cross-fire. If a character rolls 3 threat or a Despair on a combat check they have struck an innocent bystander instead of their intended target!
Joining this combat knowing it is a kill mission will earn that player 5 conflict if they have Morality. There are six sets of minions and the Sand Demon, although only two groups are visible at first and the Sand Demon is on the third floor at Extreme range from the players with two groups of minions and a Rival gangster.
Rewards/Outcome: Killing the Sand Demon will earn each player 1800 credits or reduce their Obligation by 10.

Sand Demon opened a bottle of his favorite Naboo whiskey and said to his men, “Theysa come for us, but weesa will kill them, weesa kill them all and then we kill that poodoo swine Vandil! Ready yousa weapons, weesa ride or die my friends!”

Jabber tries to play it cool, hoping to look as innocent as possible, perhaps a civilian at the wrong place at the wrong time. No one expected a Jawa to be a gangster, right?
OOC: I assume that there is no Deception to pretend to be a civilian.

Daunt entered the fray in his black cloak which didn't obscure his presence or intent but maybe his identity. He had come prepared. He was looking for the best option for ascent to the top of the penthouse.
[Ascension Gun - Normal purchase if there was time to prepare for this, with DP if there wasn't]
[Smoke grenades - if such things even exist in SW, as above]

Venator shows up with the bigger guns. He tries to stick to the shadows and hopefully pick off some goons so that he can advance without too much issue. An attack in the middle of the day leaves a bad taste in his mouth. Not because of the violence but for the possibility of getting civilians caught in the crossfire. It certainly is not the way.

This wasn't usually Dove's style, but with everything that was going to happen, she saw this as a possible opportunity for those plans. The collar of her top underneath the leather jacket was
pulled up to cover her face, just to have some measure of anonymity.

Ok kid. You really want to become a gunslinger? Ok, remember this: he who survives wins. No one is going to complain about the rules if they're dead. If you have the numbers against you, reduce the kriffing numbers.
The words of an old vet of Tatooine echoes through Jabbers ears as he slides into position behind a piece of cover. He carefully pokes a blaster around cover and aims.
Calm. Breathe. Make shots with purpose, not just to make them.
Jabber eyes one of the close groups as gently squeezes the trigger.

The seocnd group of gangserts shoot at Daunt from behind cover and their shots are highly effective even turning his Ascension Gun into useless slag! The grenade plinked back at the group that threw it and took out another gangster.
OOC: Hit Daunt for 9 wounds and 2 Triumph to destroy his Ascension Gun. The players can use the Threat. Despair used to take out another gangster in group #1, only 1 left. PC turn.

So there went the smart option. It looked like he'd need to mow his way through. The burn from the blaster got felt.
