Well Jedi are extremely rare and possibly extinct so it's really hard to get the ingredients.

Of course they are. Just not for each other. Plants farm people with oxygen because they produce co2, nitrogen and other nutrients and return to digestible form in just about several decades. They take care of their own multiplication. Trees don't even have to move a branch to get the yield, other people usually seek to deposit their dead near vegetation, lured by pleasant floral scents and shade.
