Shopping in the beginning of twilight seemed like a goos idea. The Witch moved from stall to stall, a quaint, handwritten list in her hands as she looked at beings selling equipment. Something was beginning to call to her, but she wasn't sure what, yet.

But whatever it was, she couldn't go someplace unprepared.

At a fruit stand, Sinnya was bargaining for a large sack of cramberries trucked in fresh that morning from the ag sector of the continent. "Power's going to be iffy all night, after that shake," she'd been pointing out, sweetly reasonable. "These might not even keep until tomorrow. Anyway, you know I'm your loyal-est customer..."

Juri took her new supplies, and packed into a new backpack, handmade from leather. Finally, a slugthrower, a simple hunting rifle. She tied it in a blanket, and strapped it with the pack.

It was heavy, but easily carried with the way it was designed. She began to walk through the market, and heard a familiar voice.

Smiling, she approached the Twi'lek. "Sinnya. Good to see you safe."

"Witch lady." Sinnya's smile was friendly as she stepped away from the produce stand with her sticky berry prize.

"Thanks again for taking care of my Sister." The capital S was audible if one knew to listen for it. "I really thought that might be it for her..." One lek twitched uneasily and she shrugged. "You staying safe too? Avoiding, uh, extra attention?"

"No need to thank me. Compassion, that is what is needed times like these." She beamed, then her smile turned slightly. "As safe as I can be. Always looking over ones shoulder, you know how it is." Juri's demeanor went a little downcast, and she busied herself adjusting the straps of her new pack.

"What about you? Are you all doing okay?"

"Yeah. Wasn't my home place that got leveled." Though it half felt like it had been; losing the physical refuge of the Enclave didn't hurt as bad as the lives lost, but Sinnya had found, over the passing weeks, that it hurt more than she expected. "And I made some... new friends around then. More people willing to help than I would have guessed." She shrugged, lekku twitching awkwardly. "I thought most of Rygor didn't give a damn about my people. It's good I was... partly wrong."

"Sentient beings are very good at acute compassion, but not general empathy. We act when we see suffering close to us, but if it isn't something present in our daily lives, we just don't... think about it." She sighed, softly.

"A little cynical for me to say, but I get why you say partly." She watched the twi'lek closely, just studying her features, her attention solely focused on their conversation.

"I am glad you're able to find some light in the darkness of what happened. That can be difficult."

“When you put it that way it sounds like the ‘darkness’ made this light happen, or something.” Sinn shrugged awkwardly. “All it really means is the light wasn’t crushed out all the way. Just mostly.”
