EM 7 - A Whole New World

The last few weeks were hard on Ru'ni, he couldn't bring himself to return to Varo's Sword while Neela was there and the thought that she was getting away with what she had done to his people had so clouded his being, that he was told by the elders that the Calm was not ready to receive him in this state.
He had spent most of his time contemplating where he fit in the universe and he came to one conclusion, he had a very specific set of skills, and was determined to put them to use. The Exile's Enclave had been destroyed, and while he could no longer work with them, he still had faith that the Resistance would win their war against the Empire here. The Exile's would need creds to rebuild their lives and Ru'ni only knew of one place that he might be able to get them...
He was so wrapped up in his thoughts as he walked through the markets that he wasn't paying as much attention to his surroundings as he maybe should have.

He hears boots, six pairs in fact! Heading towards him, storm troopers.

It was slim and growing slimmer as now the storm troopers stopped to examine the area and search for the criminal.

Picking his moment, Ru'ni fled, heading West and attempting to use the long shadows of the buildings cast by the rising sun to his advantage, he sought to elude pursuit. He no longer considered himself an active member of the resistance, but he doubted that these troopers would acknowledge such a distinction after all that he had done to hinder their efforts.
Why's it got to be so hard to make an honest living, Ru'ni thought as he tried to escape the superior numbers of the stormtroopers, thankful for now that he had found a little breathing room at least.

They were still hunting him, but he lost them for now.
OOC: They will find him eventually due to 2 threat, but he has a moment.

He didn't have long, and he knew it, he had bought himself a few minutes, but the net was closing in. He took the only opportunity he had and wrote a quick note to Viati telling her once more how much he loved her and that he'd come back for her if he could.
Stuffing it and his cred chip in a dead drop they had been using to communicate recently, he hoped it wouldn't be discovered and to assist in that, he dashed off a few blocks away, before 'accidentally' crashing into a food cart and bringing the pursuit to an end.

The troopers arrest him and bring him back to a transport vehicle. One headed up front and then returned a few minutes later and waited with the other to guard him.

As he was marched to the vehicle, Ru'ni glanced around. There weren't many people on the street, but hopefully word would spread that he was arrested.
"Did I do something wrong? These city customs are still pretty new to me." He asked, trying to figure out if he had been targetted or just caught up in a random sweep.

"Not at all, Aznuri, you will be free to go shortly," a cold voice said as a dark robed figure made his presence known.

"Thank you Mr...." Ru'ni answers even though the voice sends a shiver down his back.
"I just need to head to the Bounty office. Try my hand at that hunting thing. Man needs to make a living, gotta find somewhere permanent to live, what with the Enclave being gone and all."

"I am looking for Sister Viati, do you know this woman?" he asked as he cocked his head slowly to the left.

"I have known her, if you get my meaning." Ru'ni replies, trying to calm his racing heart by deflecting a little while trying hard to remain honest.
"A lot of the people returned to the Sky Tree Sea though after the Enclave was destroyed. Do you know which tribe she was from?" He asked, trying to appear helpful.

Seemingly dismissed, Ru'ni marked this one in his mind as dangerous, especially given the ease with which he penetrated Ru'ni's (admittedly paltry) mental defenses.
Grateful that he had been released so easily, he took his time meandering through the market, window shopping to try and shake any possible lingering tail before heading back to the dead drop and retrieving what he had left there.

“Please, open it,” the cold voice said from behind Ru’ni.

Realizing he had been caught out, Ru'ni slumped his shoulders without turning around. "Sneakier than a black cat at midnight under a new moon aren't you."
He cursed the inquisitor under his breath, hoping the bastard was reading his mind right at that moment.
"What are you hoping to find here?" He asks as he moves slowly but following the instruction as he pulls a stone out from a wall, revealing a small opening within.

"Are you afraid?" he asked.

"Of you?" He answered, hoping his false bravado came through his voice. He had seen what the 13th Sister could accomplish and if he was her equal, he knew he stood no match.
"My people believe our souls will live forever in the Calm. I don't fear for my life."

"But you fear for her," he said calmly.

Ru'ni whirled around in a flash, his knife coming to hand (quick draw) but not aimed at the Brother, but pressing the blade against his own throat.
"You may be right, but back someone up against a wall enough and there's no telling what they'll do. It'll be a cold day in the pits of darkness before I willingly betray her, and I'm willing to bet big that you can't poke around the brain of a corpse."

"You think your life has value to me?" he said observing this strange interaction.

"I think you value my life as much as the dewback poodoo you scrape off the bottom of your boot." He replies trying to consciously fill his mind with that imagery.
"But my death might keep you from something you actually want, something I don't want you to have. I've seen the way you and yours operate, not exactly big on mercy, so I doubt I can expect much now."
