[Day 3 - MM] Suicide Squad Operation

The transport made the approach to Camp-14 as Rayne made last minute checks to his uniform and made sure the group was ready. The cargo bay had food supplies or a semblance of food supplies enough to fool the Empire for the distraction.

Now the crew had last minute preparations to go over the plan as they approached Camp-14.

OOC: This RP event is open to six players, five wearing Storm Trooper armor and a pilot plus Qareme who is still in prison.

There's a muffled noise from a taller 'stormtrooper'
"Y'all have no idea how squished my head tentacles are in this thing. Talk about humano-centric design"

It wasn't the first time Dove was wearing pilfered armor, so even if it wasn't a perfect fit for her it fit well enough that it didn't look too awkward. Though it was a galactic crime to cover up this fabulous body. And this gorgeous face.

The sacrifices that needed to be made were sometimes steep.

She checked over the weapon a few times, familiarizing herself with it.

"Well, it's do or die now. Exciting, isn't it?" Yes, she was actually enthusiastic about throwing herself into an infiltration mission.

OOC: Relevant gear (besides trooper armor and rifle: earbud commlink, commlink, basic medpac, stimpacks (3, in military belt pouches), garrote, neural recorder (will start recording once inside).

"It's modeled on clone trooper gear - doesn't surprise me you don't fit. You'll want to keep your thoughts to yourself once we touch down."

Djanik was dressed in his old Imperial navy uniform, the flight captain's three red-three blue rank panel pinned to his chest brought back a lot of memories. With the black cap pulled down on his brown hair, he almost felt his old self, black gloves gripping the flight sticks lightly.

He eased the transport into the wound gently, flying like a man in no hurry to land and fill out requisition paperwork. This was how hauler pilots flew when they didn't expect any danger - he'd escorted them countless times during the war.

Tapping his commlink, he began approach procedures. "Camp control, this is Transport SW-19013 on approach for scheduled resupply."

Weaving around a rock outcropping, with a wide margin, the gentle sway of a man pretending to be a hot shot. "Requesting landing bay assignment, loaded cargo is within standard weight limits. Please designate bay and route."

Once he had cleared the comm and was waiting for response, he glanced at the scanners. He was quietly watching them for indications of anything out of the ordinary, whenever he had a moment.

"Remember, the less of a mess we make, the more likely we are to get your friends out of this alive."

It was a strange feeling, but he was... excited, to fly an Imperial ship again, even if it was just a hauler like this one.

Sloan's head swang dangerously close to colliding with the ceiling of the transport.

Posing as an imperial prisoner wasn't the most dignifying role to play, but this wasn't about dignity, it was about hitting the Empire where it hurts. Fear, hate, and revenge all burned at the back of Sloan's mind.

“Brother Sloan, we all know fear, the Sith are driven by it but a Jedi understands that Fear is an emotion, it is essential but also if allowed to drive our actions can make us do things we regret or justify even worse actions. Fear is a part of us, but it does not drive us. Fear is a weapon the enemy will use, it is like fire it is indiscriminate and can easily get out of control,” he said calmly.

“I know they will come for her, they will come for you, they will strike at those you care about to get you to act, to stoke your anger, to drive you to the Dark side. We seek to protect those people but we cannot let our attachments delve into obsession, I will defend Veras with my life but not because I own her but because I value her.”

He took a deep breath and tried to distance himself from that which sought to control him.

Dak scoffed "Trust me I get it Floats my tail is killing me in this thing. I'd cut a hole in the back of it if that wouldnt be a dead give away." Dak rode in the transport prepping his equipment for the jail break. Doing this might make getting to the heist a chore but Dak felt like this was more important than helping the Hutts make more money.

Petrus looked at the blaster rifle, his lips twisting. He knew he had no idea how to use it. On the other hand, he had plenty idea of how to hold it; watching Warrior's Heart had given him that much, anyway. Well, that and working with Clone Troopers. And seeing Stormtroopers marching down the street.

He was somewhat uncharacteristically quiet, lips compressed, gaze distant. Fingered gloves tapped lightly on armored leg. Those were the only external clues to the cold he felt in the pit of his stomach. Fear. Always a struggle with you, huh Petrus? Not fear for his life, but fear of failure, fear for his friends.

Fear of meeting his destiny? Oh yes, that too.

Petrus glanced around at the others, but then went back to gazing distantly. He would trust them. And himself.

And the Force.

Rayne adjusted his uniform and said to Djanik, “Thank you for that keen insight.”

“Once inside two of you should break off and report to the Security station to initiate the lockdown, also we will need you there so we can locate the Jedi. We are freeing everyone but knowing where to go first is essential. Once we are in position, lockdown the Haven and unlock the cells.”

“We use the chaos to escape, assuming we draw the Inquisitor out of the base without her gone, this becomes infinitely harder. Trandoshan, make sure to look downtrodden, and if need be prepared for a stun or two for good measure,” he said.

“For appearances.”

Djanik shrugged. If the man wanted to snark, that was his problem. All Djanik cared about was the job getting done, and done right.

Some turbulence rocked the shuttle, prompting a gentle course correction.

This canyon was far more treacherous than it first looked - an amateur would be liable to end up splattered across the stone walls.

"Well shucks, now I'm feeling all selfish, didn't even consider the sized and tailed among us. You folks doing it tough but it'll be worth it I reckon. And, just like Rayne said Mr Sloan, if I do have to pretend to push you it ain't personal and I'll buy you a beer back at base."

The Nautolan listens intently to the somewhat simple plan

"I can do either I reckon, but if you want me at the security station, well, how different is a prison's computer system to repairing a boat? Boats got computers, basically the same."

Floats interjected before the harsher word for laowai could slip off his tongue in response to the ex-imperial's smarminess.

"Make it look convincing Floats." He gave her a toothy grin. She certainly helped bring a more friendly atmosphere to an insane self-death mission.

Like flicking a switch, Dove was on task now, her tone serious and focused.

"I can head to security station. If you know a computer, Floats, then we should be good." Dove lamented having lost a lot of her gadgets and gears from the war. "What level of resistance should we expect there?"

He took a deep breath, eyes half-closing as he sought to focus himself.

She goes to give a salute and ends up whacking herself in the helmet, stupid things
"You do the spy stuff and I'll do the uh, other stuff."

Dak clapped him in the back "Dont worry kid, this is a simple op, not an easy op but a simple one. We'll know pretty quick if it goes belly up." He looked down at Petrus "I got your back, told your sis I'd bring you home ok so that's what I'll do."

They were starting to get close.

Tapping the comms again, Djanik made the request again - it was common for air traffic control to blow off regular deliveries until they were in close. Ground control screwing with pilots - an old game, predating even the empire.

"Camp Control, this is Transport SW-19013 on approach for scheduled resupply. Requesting landing bay assignment for zeta-class hauler with standard weight complement. Please designate bay and route - you may want to pick a smooth one - or you'll be eating bruised cram gnapples for the next month."

Typical banter even. It was all coming back to him.

After a moment, Petrus nodded. "Thanks." He said. Although really, kid, getting that from Dove and Mia is hard enough... At least Sloan called him medium-sized.

Another moment, and he essayed a smile. "You're a friend of Jenna's?"

Dak was quiet for a moment "Friend might be too generous of a term. We've run in the same circles." He left their association vague not sure how much Ja....Jenna wanted her brother to know about her work.

Dove looked at Floats with a confused and raised eyebrow. And she slipped on her helmet before continuing. "I ain't no spy. Super or otherwise. Unless you mean all of us for this mission, I guess we can call ourselves spies. I think?"

Who the frak is mouthing off about me being a spy?

"Ohhhh right."
You get the sense there's a wink trying to get out of the stormtroopers helmet
"I ain't a spy either, mom's the word on that one fellow human stormtrooper."

Dak stifled a snicker that Dove would surely catch but he did his best to restrain himself. If she didnt want people to know what she was that was her business.

Meanwhile in the prison, Qareme was starting to wake up in her prison cell. She stretched as best she could, her back cracking from the very uncomfortable sleeping position. She wasn't sure if it was morning or afternoon, all she knew was she was still in the prison. She'd failed those around her.

And now what consequences does my failure bring?

In response to Djanik there is a reply, “This is Camp-14 actual, hangar bay 34-Bex is clear for your arrival, over.”

Rayne listened and then handed a data chit to Floats, “Get this into their systems.”

Meanwhile…

Qareme is roused by the screams and agony of the other prisoners and can feel the pain all around her in the cells. Through the door she hears 13th Sister saying to her, “You’re not dead, excellent… your friends probably wish they were but hours of agonizing beatings and torture will do that. They thank you for that privilege though.”

She laughed and then departed.

Back at the Transport

The landing was smooth and the doors open and at the bottom...
