New Morning Ritual [Day 7, Early Morning]

Walking out onto the beach she had her own blaster, always now, strapped to her side. Having developed a new sense of fashion her pants were a bit more form fitting than prior, sturdier too, not that baggy loose ones she used to wear that seemed to only cling to her body because of the belt. Above that same belt, however, she had a combo of an black undershirt and a light brown jacket. Complimenting, and hiding, most of the gear she kept concealed on her person.
Arriving early, she walked out toward the usual spot, a safe spot for shooting, and set up the targets for the day. Removing, now, the ones from the other day and seeing them away into a conveniently placed basket she used to carry the trash back in on occasion. Left on a table, that she'd brought out with her at the start of the morning, was a basic blaster from the armory. Better to use that one, they'd come to the conclusion, as it wasn't as deadly nor dangerous as the one resting now on her hip.

Jin watched and said, “Better, still a little stiff but better. You’re not pulling the trigger just a squeeze and keep your eye on the target.”

After finishing the setup she got in some practice off the bat, "Right," she said to the instruction. Jenna's instinct was so keep scanning the horizon for new threats. Always trying to keep one step ahead of everyone else. It distracted her from the focus on the firearm.
Afraid of the next shot, afraid of what it meant to take it, afraid of failure, she exhaled and let those fears wash out with it for a moment. In that breathless moment she focused and fired off a bolt or two down range at the target.

"You won't need more anymore after this," she said watching. "That's what teachers do, we get you to the point where we become redundant."

Putting the blaster down into a rested position she let herself exhaled, turning about she gave her little mentor a bit of a smirk and then nodded, "Guess so, had a few in my life. Couple really good ones that stuck with me even now but, not sure where they are now," she shrugged.
"Thanks, though, for doing this. It's meant-" she shook her head, "It's helped me a lot."

"It's nothing, really. Just trying to do my part after so much time of trying to do the right thing for everyone," she responded. "Didn't work too well."

"That sounds," she paused, ".. familiar," she said as she walked over to a proper place to rest the training blaster down, safety on.
"For a while I tried something similar, kept people I cared about in the dark on a lot of things. Eventually.. I guess for a moment I thought it was the fact I'd opened up, let them in, and let that good nature guide me into a bad move that put me in the position I'm in now but I don't think so. Might have gone differently if I'd just been honest with them sooner, I think."

"Hindsight is an acklay," she replied.

"Yea," she said, glancing off toward the water. Sighing, propping herself up, and starting to clean up the area for the day.
"Just gotta figure it out, move on, next step," she said, rolling up some unused targets. "I've got this," she added quickly, "cleaning helps me relax. So, let me not use up too much more of your time. Thank you," she furled up the papers and set them aside, moving to the next task, "for everything."

“Not a problem, we all need to be as ready as we can be when things go sideways,” she said to the woman.
“I am sure you’ll help someone else, just pay it forward.”

"I'll be sure to try," she said, having put down what she was doing for a moment. With a smile sent in Jin's direction she got back to work, diligently cleaning up after the session. "It's nice," she said, mostly for herself as she'd turned not expecting Jin to hang around forever, "to have the backup, should the worst happen. Not that.. not that I want to use it," she knelt down beside the basket she kept all the used targets in and carried it back toward the table.

Jin went ahead and assisted in clean up and said, "Just be ready to use it."

Glancing to Jin, another quick smile, "Thanks," and then she went to work some more. Taking down targets, moving them aside, hiding them. Most of the stuff out here was able to be disassembled and stored for later use. All of it went by a tree nearby, under a tarp in the grass. Kept it concealed to wandering eyes.
"Again, I'll try, it's.. well, I've never cared for the idea. Always ran first sight of danger," she shrugged, "guess it's a hazard of the job. Kept me alert but, well, I got the tendency to run at the first sign of trouble. Doesn't really help when there isn't any more running to do, huh?"

"Just hope you never have to be responsible for killing anyone, kid. But you go down this life and that chance will be taken from you," she said grimly.

"I've thought about that," she said, unclipping the blaster at her hip and holding it out in her hand. "This weapon too it.. it's dangerous. The kinds weapon that really only kills but,' she shuddered at the memory, "I've been.. face to face with one of those Inquisitors."
"Still haunts my nightmares, on occasion and.. I don't know what else might be able to save me from something like that. I don't want to have to kill anyone, but to save myself, my family, those I care about? Running away.. it's only helped me get so far, and I'm not sure my problems are gonna let me keep running like I have."

"Gotta face 'em some time," she said with a shrug.

"Yea," she said, slipping the weapon back into it's holster. "Just not sure how that's gonna play out, best case for my health is I never see one of those Inquisitors again, but I will, and I just hope I'm ready for it."
Clicking it in, she looked to Jim again, "Just gotta keep on moving, huh?"

"That usually works for a gunfight and living," she said chuckling.

Jenna smiled faintly at the chuckle, "I intend to do that second half as long as I can. Will keep the advice in mind, all of the advice you've given me," she said, this time with a more directed smile.
Having gathered all of the assorted odds and ends that made the little range she collected the tarp and, with Jin's help, put the tarp neatly over the stuff laid out on the more solid ground. Moving on weights to keep the tarp in place.

"Should get on, have.. some stops to make today, gonna head in to the hanger to get my ship in order," she said, looking to Jin, "Thanks, again," she said with a nod.
Prepared to leave toward the rest of her day.
