Astin sighed, this place sucked, using a sleeve to wipe his brow he rolled his shoulders to try and get rid of the forming craps. He had managed to get the Computers to turn on the lights. Unfortunately that had caused many of the circuits in the room to short our. His task now was replacing them.

It was going pretty well, but he was starting to get bored with the current task. He wanted to get out of this damned place and ho riding.

Helping out around the new HQ, Dove listened to the various other techies explain what they needed for things to work better. While she was no techie herself, she knew how to get them in touch with the right sources, and she paid for them to get access on certain places on the Holonet that were behind paywalls.

"You think anyone brought any beer with them." Astin offered as he pulled himself out of the control panel he had been working in. "I could use about three of them right now."

"Beer does sound nice," she agreed with a nod to Astin as she walked over to him.

"Hey... sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to snap at you."

"Ain't nothing to worry yourself about. Ain't the first time I've been yelled at." He smirked. "Didn't even come with a smirk or a drink in the face."

"Maybe, but I was... I was in a bad mood, after all that happened. And I shouldn't have done that." She gave a half-hearted smile. "We're supposed to be crew now, and look after eachother."

That brought a laugh to his lips. "You do have a good point there, and if you really feel the need to make it up to me sometime. Well, you can buy me a beer or something. "

"Really though, I figure crew works a bit like family in a few ways. Sure you look after each other, but you can still get mad at each other."

"I wouldn't know. I never really had family, but I'll take your expert opinion on the matter... as you have, what, five siblings, or something?" she seemed to recall he came from a big family.

"So it's acceptable to get mad at eachother, and fight it out, and then make up later?"

Spotting the hard working duo Xanna approached them with a wave. She was holding a backpack and looked about as underdressed as some semblance of decency would allow. "Goodness it is still so hot in here! I think I might melt. But we are making incredible progress. It is wonderful to see everyone pulling together."

She fumbled around in the bag. "I thought perhaps you would like something to help you cool down? I did not have time to go to the kitchen when we left Rygor, but I did grab what was left in my fridge at home."

A cold pack was produced. "I am all out of Cramberry juice, but perhaps you would like a cold beer?"

"Eleven of em, made for fourteen of us in the house for a few years. We'd get into all kinds of fights with each other, but we'd make up eventually." His lips curled into a wry smirk. "Course my parents would argue too, but their making up usually happened at night and made the rafters shake.... Think that's how a few of my siblings came to be now that I think if it."

Shaking his head to clear the stray thoughts he glanced from his work to Dove. "So it's ok, least in my book."

He was thinking of broaching the subject of dating again when Xanna arrived, and he gave the young woman a wary look. Before nodding. "I think Dove and I could both use a beer, if you're in the mood for sharing."

"Didn't take you for the drinking type though, I must admit."

She flashed a smile and fished out two beers. "Rarely Astin, and I have been living with a house guest for some time now. The smoking I do not allow in my home, but a beer or two between friends?" With pale blue fingers delighting in the coldness she handed each of them a can.

Her thoughts turned to the apartment she had held for the last few years. "Hmm, I suppose it is not my home any more. If the Imperials have their way." She imagined Captain Hrugos rifling through her things.

"Besides, I am sorry. I was not polite to you yesterday. You were being pragmatic, I understand that, but I think we should have hope that we can succeed." She smiled again and pulled out another can, holding it against her forehead. "Or we can agree to disagree?"

Dove on the other hand didn't feel wary about Xanna's approach, and she nodded with a smile to the offer of a beer. It was easier to take her mind off things when people were around and talking, and beer would probably help too.

"Astin was just telling me how family can fight and still get along. So there's probably hope for that," she chuckled softly, looking between the two as she opened up her can.

Astin took the beer and popped it open, examining Xanna for a few moments. "Could be me and you disagree more then agree in the long run."

He took a slow sip of his beer. "But we're going to be working together, so I'll try to at least keep that in mind and voice my opinions more reasonably."

"Won't even call you sweet cheeks in a fit of anger."

She raised her own can in a salute and opened it. "It seems we are all agreed then, at least on the subject of beer. I will not let my sweet cheeks be too disagreeable, does that sound fair? Here is to the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

She offered to clink cans before drinking to their new found mutual toleration. After taking a swig she added, quite reasonably: "And I will not fault you for conversation about body parts Astin, not when we are basically being forced to live in our underwear."

After clinking cans Astin glanced down at the sleeveless shirt and shorts he wore to combat the heat in this damp hole. "These aren't my underwear, Miss. I keep a bolt bag near my bed with essentials in it, and I never own too much of anything that won't fit in my speeder."

He offered the blue woman a playful wink. "I will say it's no fun to ride bare ass through the night on a speeder though. Gets a bit chilly without company."

Hey, no making moves on the kid's crush. Dove nudged Astin's leg with her foot.

"Are you going to open up a kitchen here, Xanna? Once things get worked out? I never did get to try out your soup..."

Xanna laughed warmly at the mental image of Astin. His moustache streaming in the wind, but otherwise naked as the day he was born. "I believe you Astin, I truly do."

Dove's question made her pause. "Hmm. I don't see why not. I think Liua is keen. Perhaps a beach side grill would be more fitting for the scenery?"

The nudge on the leg didn't go unnoticed and it earned Dove a questioning look. First it was make friends, now it was don't get too close? Astin quickly shot down the idea it was Dove being jealous, the woman didn't seem to operate that way. Which meant it was likely that it was something to do with Xanna. Traitor? No... That more or less left 'boyfriend's or 'She's Cray Cray' both of which seemed a possibility.

Still he bite off his explanation about why is was better to rude speeders during the day, and joined in on the conversation about food. "I kinda like the idea of a beach grill. Goes better with beer, and well something out in the sun will likely cheer people up."

"That does sound nice..." she agreed, daydreaming a little bit about having a super-secret lair with its own private beach, grill, cantina, and sauna, and... now she was getting carried away.

"What would you need to set up something like a grill... kitchen?"

"Well, it reallly depends a bit on how profennsional she wants to be." Astin mused thoughtfully. "If it doesn't matter much we could probably throw something together from the scrap we can find around the islands. Bound to be some useful stuff that's just washed up on shore." Beach stands often meant bikini's too, which was something Astin was certainly a fan of.

"Yes, it would not take much." She tapped her chin and took another swig. "We could build something out of scrap. Driftwood, that sort of thing. It does not need to last forever."

She smiled and nodded. "I like this idea. Then we just need a supply of fish. Perhaps some traps to catch those crabby things? And it will be outside, so the winds will cool us down."

"I don't got a good head for building stuff, or that kind of things, but I can support the venture financially. And besides, I think it could be good for morale if we don't have to live on ration bars and paste."

Blech, paste. That gave her some bad memories from fieldwork.

"Well, I reckon most of the stuff can be found around the islands, though if you want to buy a few things it certainly wouldn't cause a problem."

"If nothing else its gonna take a few beers to see it built in this heat." He nodded his head towards Xanna. "Course she likely has a better grasp of everything we need then me."

"Oh it would not be difficult to set something up. It only needs some shelter and a few working parts. It should be simple with all of the left over equipment from setting up the base." She smiled and took another sip.

"So that is settled then. Xanna's bar and grill. Now, what have you two been working on?"

Meanwhile, in the background, the pretty Newsie was giving an inspirational speech to the unnamed masses of the Resistance.

"We may have been run out of Rygor but we're still fighting and as long as there is even one of us left to fight then we still have hope!"

It was moderately effective.
