Rannek turned to his belongings and pulled out the hilt he had prepared in the past few weeks. He gently opened the inner compartment and placed the crystal into its holding place. He closed the compartment and secured it.
He turned the hilt over in his hand for a moment and took a breath before testing his handiwork.
The blade emerged from the hilt in a moment and a streak of white-light with just a hint of blue burst forth. He did not move the blade around, only stared at it while he held it in his hand.
There was something in the hum of the saber which echoed within him... the call he had been hearing... now purred in satisfaction from his hand. He nodded his head in gratitude to the crystal and extinguished the blade.
