Shadows of Bankor

After spending the bulk of the afternoon in the temple following the Jedi meeting, Rannek received a call from Oraka asking him to come to his room here in the temple. He finished a small meal and made his way to Oraka’s room where he knocked to make his presence known.

Once there Oraka got to it and said, "We believe you are ready to purify this crystal, Rannek."

"This will be a harrowing experience," Master Surro added.

He looked at Master Hin with the slightest bit of surprise and nodded, “I am grateful for your faith. I will do my best.”

He nodded to Master Surro, “I have experienced a part of its influence before... it was not something I enjoyed... but it should not be avoided either. I believe we can undo the damage.”

Oraka placed it on a table and then sat on one side and said, "Feel the Force flow through you."

OOC: Force check please.

Rannek closed his eyes and put his hand over the crystal. He could feel the conflict within it... within him... the push and pull of light and dark. But he tuned his mind to the light as best he could and tried to add his strength to the remnant of good within the crystal.

OOC: The light one.

The Force flows from hismelf intot he crystal and it glimmers, but the darkness remains. It begins to swallow the chamber.

OOC: Fear check at 3, Discipline or Cool, with a setback and a boost for the Masters being there.

He tried to keep his cool but he could feel the urge to flee coming... he was being chased yet again.

"True power is within your grasp and you waste it seeking lies," she hissed into his ear.

“Lies... there’s no lies... only the Force. The light calls... it asks for aid. I lend what I have to it. Power is not my game. Balance... restoration to that which is right... that’s all I care for.”

"I can open your mind to a world of pleasures and power," she said moving to straddle him.

"You only have to accept my gift."

OOC: Discipline check at hard, may add Force rating for success or advantage; setback for the fear and upgrade with Destiny.

“Pleasure? Power? Those things are the lies. I serve the Force... I will not force it to serve my desires. I will untwist what you have twisted.”

The Light strips away the veneer of the woman as she wraps her arms around Rannek and said in that same sweet voice, “These fools can teach you nothing, Rannek… not the wretched weak thing I became but the essence of my power it could be yours… you could be my finest apprentice. Give in.”

“Seal your destiny with a kiss, and all I have will be yours.”

“And all I have of me will be erased... I will never give up my light so easily. The Force lives in me and I in it. The Dark cannot consume the Light.” He replied as he pushed against her in his mind, attempting to drive her husk off his body.

OOC: Force check.

He could feel the tearing of the dark as it sought to rip his resolve apart. But from within himself and within the crystal he could feel the cool confidence of restorative power...

Using the two light points.

The crystal is cleansed and the phantom fades.

Rannek opened his eyes and let out several heavy breaths. He looked down at the crystal for a moment and saw the red fade. He then looked up to the Masters near him as his breathing started to calm.

"You have done well," Master Surro said quietly.

He nodded softly, “Thank you... I wasn’t alone...”

"Yes, I was there with you, and you had the strength to resist her lures," he responded.

He nodded, “And the words of my Master... and the resonance of light in the Force.”

He took the crystal in his hand and held it in his palm. “There’s always a way forward... I know this now.”

He stood up with the crystal in his hand, "I think it might be time to complete my lightsaber..."
