Floats has her eyes squeezed right shut and is all a quiver with excitement.

Dove let go of Floats and stepped over to the tarp. "Ok, open your eyes at the count of three. Three!"

With a dramatic flourish, she flipped the tarp away, revealing a big box. It had a sea-green color, with the picture of a spaceship among fishes and coral-reefs. Big friendly letters said:

Her jaw drops, her eyes widen and her tentacles stand on end.
“This is the greatest and best gift anyone has ever given me, and I got given a free shirt once”

Dove will be the victim of an intense hug as she’s lifted up and twirled around
“Thank you need thank you thank you Miss Dove! I promise I’ll install it extra nice, no grease spots afterwards or anything.”

Dove laughed though, and let Floats carry on with their hug. "I'm sure you will, Floats. I'm sure you will. Looking forward to underwater adventures now?"

Dove laughed though, and let Floats carry on with their hug. "I'm sure you will, Floats. I'm sure you will. Looking forward to underwater adventures now?"

Spinning a few more times before gently depositing her friend.

“ ‘Course we’re gonna have underwater adventures. We got treasure to find and rifts to explore and... pirates? We could fight pirates or be pirates, or fight pirates while being pirates!”

On no, here come the waterworks
“I don’t get a lot of gifts so this is real special, it makes me wanna” sniff “you know.”

“But I don’t even have that much I want. I mean, you know, there’re nice things out there. But if I got a boat and friends I’m pretty set to be honest.”

“You get gifts too right? Doesn’t seem fair if you ain’t getting gifts too. I don’t know what to get people but I’m sure maybe some kinda cool jacket modification for the ship?”

"Either a big room for all your jackets or a jacket for the whole ship...or both, this is a real nice gift and I need to reciprocate!"

Dove had felt the Jedi Order had failed their young students on many levels, but this was simply too much. You just didn't deny kids gifts on Life Day. That was too cruel. Even for the standards of a genetically engineered assassin.

"It's just... things. Not a life committment, sheesh," she shook her head. Then tried to picture what a ship-jacket would look like. "... Jacket-room sounds cool, I guess. I could have a walk-in-closet."

Floats pushes aside a lifetime deficit in presents

"You absolutely should have a walk-in-closet Miss Dove, you could have your jackets on one wall and your guns on one wall and all those things Mr Astin said were nice but really only for late night vids on the other."

"Hardly, Floats. It's just an upgrade to your home - so it can now go on oceanic adventures as well as space-adventures. Gotta bring that justice wherever there's bad guys, right?" she teased the Nautolan, giving her a small nudge.

"What kind of other upgrades do you think we should get for the ship in the future?" Dove asked, figuring it was best to skip explaining Floats exactly what Astin meant by that.

"Oh there are so many other upgrades! We could find a little slot for an astromech friend, or a cloaked smuggling compartment so I won't end up homeless after filling in customs forms again. Then there's weapons and of course a ram...never know when you might need to ram someone."

"Keeli did end up joining the resistance but I ain't sure what he wants to do long term. It's a big responsibility having a subordinate, particularly one who really should be your superior. I was gonna ask him tomorrow what he wanted, you know. His life's mainly been war and...you know, that's easy to relate to."

"Right, no pressuring." Dove agreed. She could kind of understand how difficult it must be for a clone to find their place after the war had ended, and it made her wonder how many were with the Empire, and how many were like this Keeli.

"I'm afraid that doing clone things would be to fight and follow you, Floats. That's what he's programmed to do."
