The soup girl (Xanna Q&A)

I really enjoyed the opportunity to play a Jedi Padawan in the Rebellion Era, and if she survives the final day then I hope to bring her back. Still, fire away if you've got any questions.

Not really a question so much as a statement.

Even if she is the best cook in the galaxy, Astin still isn't going to eat her soup.

Sorry we didn't get more interactions off the Veras storyline - I kind of enjoyed the protective older sister thing you had going.

That said, how did Xanna end up being the soup queen? Was that planned at all, or more of an organic thing?

It must be hard to eat soup gracefully with that moustache ;)

I really enjoyed the Djanik/Veras date/rescue thread, thanks for that :) Yes, Xanna was becoming the protective older sister for her and Liua. I still see that as being a thing, it just went a bit more into the background with everything else that was going on.

The soup queen started out as a bit of a legacy joke about Verse's character in Dapper's Old Republic game. But then I realised that I really liked the idea of a Padawan going into hiding but still trying to help out as many people as possible. So my community organiser became a soup kitchen manager. I thought it brought a lot to the character and gave a good hook for a bunch of things so I'm really happy with how it played out.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the threads! I had a great time!

Our Origin page was a great one, and gave me a strong direction for Petrus right off the start. Xanna taking the lead in standing up for Liua was a great way to get Petrus on the path that I wanted him. And the chemistry between the two was great.

Thanks again!

Part of the family!

With all the implied enjoyment and love for your character that statement implies. Scenes with Xanna were great, and I shall ever picture the hijinks our little family gets up to!

Anything that you thought you might do this game, direction you might take, but because of the influence of others you didn't?

Shame we never got to do the exercise thread! I enjoyed Xanna a lot, she seemed like one of those women who didn't need a push but instead always was dedicated to do the right thing.

Me too buddy, but that doesn't get you a promotion ;)

The origin story was a brilliant start and got me invested right away. Thanks for all the great threads and the fun times. Don't get blown up and maybe we can reprise them down the line 8-)

Yass! We finally got do a bunch of scenes together for which I'm really grateful (previous games our characters have often just glided past each other). Hope you enjoyed the occasional "What would Jenna do?" moments :P

I thought she would be much sneakier with more use of Deception and Streetwise. But the soup kitchen thing really took off so I rolled more with that. I could see her becoming more of a Shadow-type as time moves on.

Yeah, apologies for that. I think the right time for that coincided with my teaching and then flying so I didn't pursue it hard enough.

Thank you! After playing a Sith jerk I was really keen to play a stand up person. In this case she just happened to be a Jedi, but I think she would have been just as dedicated to doing the right thing if I'd rolled with a non-force version.

Almost needless to say, but I'll say it anyway, "What would Jenna do?" moments always gave me life.

I'm very glad we managed not to just slide past each-other this time around, was very fun!

Greatly enjoyed Xanna! Seemed like a very calm and confident Jay, and she did an excellent job in portraying not only the compassionate side of the Jedi (being a soup kitchen organizer), but also a mediator - she did so much work that didn't go noticed by most from what I saw, and she still remained very humble about it. Much jedi, very well played. Wow. <3

And besides, Dove knows she can leave Petrus in Xanna's capable hands. ;)

Where did the idea come from of having a nod to Durasay Mixo in your background? Did you consider other ties to other characters before settling on Durasay? :) Is Xanna a character you would like to continue with in the future, if that were to happen?

Thanks for the vote of confidence, it was nice to do a bunch of background to support the team but I'm glad it wasn't completely off the radar :) Making clothes became a bit of a sub game, there were a few alliances I pursued that worked out, and the soup threads were all fun in their own way.

The nod to Durasay came from Star Wars being a family drama. I really enjoyed that character and he is a Pantoran, so I chatted with Dur's player and he liked the idea. So the ghost of Xanna's family estate is really echoes of Durasay, and I went with Force sensitivity being strong in his descendants.

I'll definitely play Xanna again if the opportunity arises. I've had a lot of fun with her (I think I can pin periods of less fun being due to frustration at my mad RL ;))

Xanna's defining moment from the past?

Highlight of the game?

Moment of despair?

Most un-Jedi-ish In character thought?

1. Escaping the life of obscene wealth that awaited her if she had not been force sensitive.

2. There were many in this game, but for the number of plot pieces that came together at once? Probably the Prisoner Rescue from the Hypermatter Foundry tower. Valus redeemed. Oraka saved by Xanna's gift. Action hero ascension gun rescue of Valus and Oraka. Mahon's inspiring death. Verse, Floats, and Dove taking on the High Inquisitor.

3. Discovering that Valus was the Inquisitor and thinking she had led him right to Oraka and Veras.

4. ftb with Petrus, closely followed by wondering about the possibility of marrying one of Usef's many sons ;)

Sorry we never had the chance to hang out.

So how good of a cook was Xanna? What skill is that? I'm just curious as to the amount of resources/exp you put into the cooking thing.

Yeah our paths just didn't ever cross this game, so it goes!

Xanna was a good cook, but that was really just a narrative thing :) She had been trained by the previous owner for a few years, so I figured she'd have picked up a lot that way.
