Who Plays A Boat Mechanic? - Floats Q&A and Feedback

There's not too much to tell about Floats, but if folks have any Q&A/feedback I'll be right on it.
The idea driving the PC was pretty simple "Gosh, I don't like the Padawan tree, and I guess I need high brawn to hit things."
-Nautolans have high brawn
-Nautolans are aquatic
-Padawans also get mechanics
Strong + aquatic + mechanics= boat mechanic (it's advanced calculus).
Then a splash of some southern tropes and she was good to go. I actually enjoyed the PC more than I thought I would, whether it was the ludicrous accent coming and going or just playing an honestly good person trying to do honestly good things. I can look back on plenty of fun scenes with peeps, although IC I think the character ended up a bit isolated from the main padawan group. But that's fine, she has her boats and a couple good friends and that's all she needs.

Oh, Floats. Truly the best of us.
What surprises did she throw you? How'd she turn out differently than you expected, and what lead to that?

As an aside, Astin is certainly happy that Floats ended up isolated from the main padawan group. His over all opinion of Jedi was pretty low by the end of the game after all.
Oh that note, would their be any tension when she eventually learned about that?

Oh, Floats, indeed! You brought so many laughs and smiles to my face during the game. Thank you!
And Mama Dove is gonna take real good care of you, she's even gonna make our ship amphibious to go on underwater-adventures!
How does Floats feel about the crew of non-amphibious folks? Is Floats a character you want to return to in the future? How would Floats fit into a musical band?

I loved reading your threads even though we didn't interact much (Warrior's Heart thread and Rescue thread spring to mind). I thought you did a great job with her, and the boat mechanic thing just worked perfectly
Sorry my old buddy stabbed you...

I'm betting you didn't expect Floats to become Public Enemy #1. Thanks for the adorable thread with Mia.

I'm not sure how you got a clone trooper, but I enjoyed reading threads from Float - was a bummer we never really interacted.
Curious, did you originally plan her attitude to be so absolutely unflappable, or was that a development?

I think the big one would be that pregame I had a lot of thoughts about her shop where I envisioned she'd spend a lot of time. Lots of bad puns ("what oar you looking for?") and the like. But instead Day 0 happens and she's Bankors most wanted and lost nearly everything. I think that led to her going full rebellion much more quickly than I had anticipated. For a fundamentally not that brave Nautolan, she ended up volunteering for a lot of suicide missions.

Floats has her own concerns about the 6th line, she finds the idea of Jedi assassins to be pretty abhorrent. I think given her character she'd just try and show Astin that there were good Jedi and its the pressures of war and conflict that ultimately corrupt 'special people'. She respects him a lot.

The life aquatic with Mama Dove! Floats is loyal to her crew in a fairly simple way, she doesn't have family, so they pretty much instantly become surrogate family. She's not sure how Dove does what she does (or even what she does) but she strikes Floats as pretty cool, even with that strange collection of whips which must be for animal taming. Astin she likes because he seems sensible and experienced (I guess by comparison to Floats?). He has life experience she never had and seems to know many forbidden things. Plus he's a mechanic, and they're all good people.
Ru'Ni Floats didn't have too much of an opportunity to interact with, but her heart breaks when she thinks about the Aznuri and what the Imps did to them, hopefully he will be able to rebuild!
I think I could see Floats returning in the future (something I wouldn't have said pre-game). If Floats is in a musical band she plays the drums....enthusiastically.

Thanks Xanna! There were so many of us padawan going around we didn't all get an opportunity to bro down! I really enjoyed Xanna as well, she seemed very much of Bankor and was proactively doing good! May the boat mechanics and the soup mistresses of the kitchen rise again!

Not at all! Paperwork, not even once! Mia reminded me a lot of Floats and it was an excellent thread! Two folks really struggling to think of how you do good when war is so fundamentally complicated! I really enjoyed Mia Kong, she had heart, and boulders!

Keeli goes where Keeli is needed, the spirit of the clones moves through him. I figured Floats' militant optimism was important. She's carrying lots of emotional baggage like most padawan, she just hides hers behind the accent and always trying to push forward.

Yeah, one could occasionally see the trauma peeking through. It was very interesting, very well-played!

Good god, Floats was adorable. Sacha thought she was the cutest thing. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she kind of wants a plush toy of her.
I wish they'd gotten a chance to talk a little more later, but Sacha's still going to see her as a friend for a long time. Hopefully she'll feel the same. I'm glad she got to give her a boost before the trials. What made you decide on a boat mechanic?

Everyone deserves a little red floaty
now with all happy meals.
Floats definitely likes Sacha, our armourer has suffered similarly to Floats and she's a good person and mechanic to boot.
I decided on boat mechanic by looking at the attributes and skills my padwan would end up with and going from there. In a world of space ships and skimmers the concept of one old fashioned mechanic banging away on boats greatly amused me.

Keeli was going to attach himself to a padawan early on Floats just needed his aid the earliest and that was that.

Can I just emphasize how sad I was that Ela the Aquaphobe did not get to do more boat stuff with Floats? I was kind of hoping for a starships versus boats rivalry or something like that, or using it as a way to explore Ela's past.
The paths did not cross much though. It is what it is.

That would have been pretty great
two different kinds of mechanic duking it out. One representing evil water, the other evil space!

Nice to meet a Southern belle. Was not expecting someone else to be doing that shtick.
Did Floats actually repair any boats this game?

Hehe, not on screen! Boats are criminally underrepresented in our PbP games today!

I really enjoyed reading Floats! I don't know why, but I feel like I came across amusing bits from her at an above-average rate, given that I didn't have a lot of time to read threads I wasn't in.
She cross-pollinated in my head with a
period piece I watched while playing this game, so I now have in my head a (distant? idk) relative, a blustering country landowner Nautolan who wants to go into politics. I don't know what game could possibly call for that, but if he shows up somewhere, I'll let you know.

Hahaha, much appreciated! I had a lot of fun when Floats did manage to get some RP in with Vaya. I'm sure any Nautolan land owner would be a fine tentacled gentleman.
