Falling to Pieces (The Coyote, Day 7 Late Morning.)

[Dove Gray]

"Heh, it is a bit different yeah. I know enough to keep my gear working and fine, but the technical aspects were never really my thing. Let me know if there's anything you need though, and I can see if I can move some funds over to you."

She gave him an amused look. "That isn't expensive things like a new hyperdrive, or the likes."

[Astin Denive]

"Ah, thanks for your offer, but I don't really need much most days. Fact is you probably have a heck of a lot of spy gadgets you want to save up for too." He offered the woman a easy smile placing the last couple filets in the pan.

"Fact is if I could find some races, I'd likely be full of cash. Sadly ain't any of those around here. Still I make do." He glanced towards the ship. "Though I would like a new hyperdrive."

"Yeah, we can put that on the wishlist with that amphibious upgrade that I know Floats would like." It wasn't something she yearned for, but she knew it would make Floats as happy as a ray of sunshine.

"And yeah, there's lots of stuff I want, but none of it is easily available in these parts. Alas."

[Astin Denive]

"You tell me what it is could be I can put some of it together." He'd never made spy gear before, but there was a time for everything. "Could likely buy some odds and ends, and make a few tools it put it together."

He smirked. "I mean the holonet has guides on all kinds of things if you go looking."

[Dove Gray]

"Oh?" her lips pursed with piqued curiosity. There were some things she did want, that he knew would be pretty darn hard to make though, like her old Cascader.

"Well, I wouldn't mind some dataspikes but those could be tricky to find out how to make. The rest would be things like a disguise kit, surveillance scanner, escape-kits... I could go on, really." She gave a wistful sigh at that. "... I used to have so many fun toys during the war."

"Well, draw up a list and I'll see what I can do to make some of it happen." He wouldn't be able to do all of it of course, but a disguise kit sounded easy enough.

"For some of the more complicated items I'll likely need specialized tools, but most if those I can make if I have the right materials." Those would be costly too, but they were also kind of an investment.

[Dove Gray]

"Sure, I can hit you with a list. From the easy stuff to the improbable ones."

She gave him a curious look. "You can just... make tools?"

[Astin Denive]

"Sure, you make better tools from worse tools. Say you're stranded on one of these nearby islands, with nothing much of you but a knife."

"Easiest type of tool to make is an axe or hammer, but neither would be very good for forging, so the first thing you do is use your makeshift hammer to make a proper hammer, then you can use that hammer to make a even better one if you want. After you have a proper hammer you can then make other tools to improve your chance at survival. That is if you plan to make em out of something besides wood and the like."

Dove blinked.

"That... made so little sense to me. And it seems kind of comical. To make a small hammer to make a slightly bigger hammer to make an even bigger hammer." She snickered as it sounded like some cartoon logic she'd see in morning holo-cartoons.

That brought out a chuckle from Astin as well. "Bigger ain't always better, Dove." He replied with a playful wink.

"But suffice to say, one of the most important thing a person can learn to make is other tools."

[Dove Gray]

"Now you're gonna tell me it's all about how you use it?" she chuckled, winking back.

"I've never been good at making tools... unless it's to use as an improvised weapon. Shoe, water-hose, cutlery, cooking utensils... they all can be weapons in a pinch. Would be happy to show you some time."

[Astin Denive]

"That's depends on if we're talking about tools or 'tools', Dove." Astin offered with a shake if his head.

"It's likely a lesson I can use, I can see some of em, but I'm pretty sure my left boot won't be much help in a fight." Unless it waa on and he was kicking someone.

"If you have a retractable blade in your boot, then that works too." She certainly did, though it was mostly an in case of emergencies-item. "But yeah, I don't see you wearin' high heels and using that as a weapon. Though it would make your legs look absolutely fabulous."

[Astin Denive]

"Might look into that then." It really couldn't hurt there was all kinds of uses for a knife after all.

As the subject turned to high heels he shifted as if to show off his calves. "You bet your ass it would, might even be able to pull off one of those pencil skirts too. Think I have the ass for it?"

[Dove Gray]

"Oh absolutely," she smirked, giving his legs an appraising look. "Might wanna shave? Though there are those who are into that kind of thing too."

[Astin Denive]

He reached a hand up to rub at the stubble on his chin. "That would mean having to buy a razor though."

"Still I hear some gus do it, to show off their beach bods. No hair, oil, those tight little swim trunks that hug your junk."

[Dove Gray]

"Oh plenty of guys do it," she wiggled her eyebrows. "Strut their stuff at the poolside, or the beach, all oiled up and glistening in the sun. Showing off their toned bodies and muscles. Some even have mustaches!"

[Astin Denive]

The comment about mustaches caused him to stroke his own. "You make a good point there, it's too bad I've only seen a few ladies around worth strutting for, and none of those I've really seen at the beach."

"Suppose I'll have to leave that sort of thing for the next island paradise I come across."

[Dove Gray]

"Well, we got a beach now, so you probably just need to hang out there more. Maybe get a tan even."

She sighed and stretched. "Who knows when we'll get the opportunity again to have our super secret base at an island paradise."

[Astin Denive]

"It'd be easier if we had ever set up that beach side grill." Still if might be nice to ho swimming anyways.

Shuffling the last of the fish over to the plate he frowned. He'd forgotten to make sides. "It likely won't be often if we're with a bunch of others. So like you say, we best take advantage."

[Dove Gray]

"Right."

Her mind had kind of glossed over the last of the cooking.

"... Oh right. We're done?"

[Astin Denive]

"Yeah."

He paused and glanced her way.

"You didn't catch the last half did you?"

[Dove Gray]

"... I wasn't paying attention anymore," she admitted, shooting him an apologetic smile.

He laughed at that. "Just buy some good takeout when you're on kitchen duty next week then." The young man finished playfully.

"Or bribe me into cooking for you, one of the two."

[Dove Gray]

"One of the two. Do you think Rygor Pizza will deliver out here?" she asked with a laugh.
