Lunch Money (Day 9 MA

[Astin Denive]

"Mmm." He nodded and stashed that knowledge away in case they ever made it out for drinks. "I can do spicy, not too fond of the overly sweet though. Like when folks fill their tea with sugar."

He repressed a shudder. "Not sure why anyone would do that."

[Elaranu]

"Personal taste?"

A shrug, "One of my brothers really liked certain sweet things, like vaple syrup. And I like a drop of honey in my tea in the morning to sooth my throat and mellow out the taste for waking up. I am sure everyone's tastebuds pick up things differently, not to mention how their brain chemistry reacts. It is no different to me than how people react to sexual stimulus or music in different ways."

[Astin Denive]

"I suppose you're right about that." He didn't understand how some people listened to some music after all. "We're all a bit different even among our own species. I suppose it's what makes the galaxy interesting."

"If we were all the same it'd get a bit boring after all."

[Elaranu]

"And I would so hate for you to be bored, Mister Denive," she replied with a smirk before finishing her tea.

"I seem to have forgotten my salad with all the interesting conversation. ...it is an odd salad regardless, all these green leaves are not like salads back home."

[Astin Denive]

"Is that so, Miss Elanaru?" He replied an amused smile on his lips.

"Well, there are several different kinds of salads." Astin mused, taking a stab at his own. "Though now I'm curious what your salads back home are like."

[Elaranu]

"Roots, stems... maybe some chopped reds added. They are filling and fibrous. This is much more... light."

[Astin Denive]

"Sounds like yours are meant to be a meal then." A not too appetizing meal at that, but who was he to be a judge. "Like this it's supposed to be eaten along side other things or as a starter." It held a similar position as soup a lot of times.

[Elaranu]

"Oh. So it is like a soup then. That explains all the liquid they put on top of it."

She poked at the leaves covered in space-ranch.

[Astin Denive]

"Well, most folk find salad greens a bit bland too, the liquid is there to add flavor." He glanced st the woman's salad.

"There are different dressings too, looks like you hot one of the more popular ones."

[Elaranu]

"Well, that is what I asked for; The most popular salad. I suppose I will take what I can get, considering it is free, and they say it is healthy.''

A small sigh.

"If you do end up taking me out for drinks some time, make sure it is some place with good food too."

[Astin Denive]

"I know a couple places that serve a good meal." Though it seemed like it was dinner and drinks though. "Should be able to work out something."

"If we get around to it."

[Elaranu]

"I will promise to try my best if we both see tomorrow, okay? I shall look forward to your paying for the largest steak I can get."

Taking a bite of her side salad, she found the taste... overly sweet. But not horrible.

[Astin Denive]

He raised an eyebrow at tha, a smirk on his lips. "Never wise to drink on a empty stomach."

Astin took a few bites of his own salad, though it appeared it wasn't covered in Spranch. "Glad we both share the same idea of a good meal though. Seafood isnt bad, but it can't beat a steak."

[Elaranu]

''Mmmm, mmm. Very thick and very pink. All the juices... One cannot beat that, as far as I am concerned. But then, I did grow up on a ranch. So I am very picky about my meat; I only want the freshest meat for my needs, nothing old or cold or messed around with too much."

[Astin Denive]

"Nothing aged then?" Astin asked thoughtfully, sure freshness was grand, but there was something to be said about aging as well.

"Think I have just the place in mind if that's the case." He said nodding mostly to himself.

[Elaranu]

"I suppose it depends on what it is being aged, and how. I suppose I was generally talking about red meat, where other meats certainly can benefit from other ways of handling them... regardless, I will be interested to see how your meat holds up, at this place you are thinking of; Just another reason to make it through all this. Besides the simple act of living."
