[Day 2 - EN] Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

[Dove Gray]

Gray-blue eyes trailed his movement back to the window. Dove couldn't really deny that despite being a terrifying inquisitor, this man also managed to be... intriguing.

Such a cat and mouse game you're getting yourself into.

She moved up behind him, daringly wrapping herself around one of his arms. "What would it mean, to be an agent of the Inquisitors? Your agent."

[The Inquisitor]

“It would mean having access to the highest echelons of power in this galaxy, in fact if you really wish to enjoy the fruits of power there is gala tomorrow, all of the most powerful movers and shakers of Bankor will be there. I was going to skip it, but perhaps I could be inclined to bring a plus one,” he offered.

[Dove Gray]

She considered it carefully, even if there was only one choice. The most dangerous choice, of course.

"... if you're offering, I'd be honored to attend by your side. As your agent."

[Dapper Dog]

The Inquisitor said, “Good, these things tend to be dreadfully dull; I would hate to suffer alone.”

“Misery loves company, or something like that.”

He allowed a beat of silence and then turned to her saying, “To be my Agent is to know that you will be called upon to kill the most dangerous enemies of the Empire, without hesitation. I am sure you would never disappoint me though, Dove, Dove Gray.”

He brushed some hair back, the hand was metallic and cold, and added, “I am demanding, but fair.”

[Dove Gray]

The metallic touch was surprising. Had he suffered some injury perhaps? She must have mistaken it for armor earlier.

"You mean... Jedi?" There was doubt in her tone. "I never fought a Jedi before..."

[The Inquisitor]

“Jedi are dangerous but predictable, far too trusting and always eager to leap to the aid of every underdog between here and Nar Shaddaa. Remove their ability to engage you up close,” he said emphasizing his advice by gripping her chin.

“I sense your hesitation… your fear, good. But remember no matter how afraid you are of them, just think of what I will do if you fail me.”

[Dove Gray]

There was some sense to what he said. She still thought she had seen lightsabers through the smoke during the raid, even if she wasn't quite sure. And who had been involved in that fight?

"Yes," she demurred, knowing she had a dangerous place in the game. "... You've fought many if them before?"

[The Inquisitor]

“I have,” he said letting go of her.

There is a heavy sigh and he continued, “When they fail to see reason and submit to the power of the Dark Side I end them. Oraka Hin is one such Jedi and he is one of the most dangerous, I doubt he will see reason.”

A smile formed on his lips and he added, “Then we will end him.”

[Dove Gray]

At times like this she thought it would have been nice to have specialised more as a sharpshooter, instead of close quarters fighting. Getting into close quarters with a Jedi, like he had said, was dangerous.

Same applied to Inquistors.

"We will find him, sir. And put an end to it. I am always a professional."

[The Inquisitor]

“Always professional?” he mused.

“Now that could be a problem, Dove, Dove Gray. Surely you like a little fun and danger,” he said turning to the woman.

“There is a time for work, and a time for play, I believe the phrase is work hard, play hard.”

[Dove Gray]

"Oh, I do," she chuckled with amusement, not hiding the fact that she was admiring his features. "Work hard, and play hard - good words to live by."

Her lips quirked in a smirk as she leaned closer. "So if it's time to play, you may call me Dove. And I might see what I can do about satisfying your needs."

[The Inquisitor]

The Inquisitor was many things but holding back his feelings on where he wanted this to lead not one of them, she had for better or for worse intrigued him and now she was here.

She was a deadly woman but he was confident he could see through her deceptions, perhaps too confident and believed he controlled the situation this was simply business his emotions were under his control… everything was going according to plan.

He reached out with his metallic hand and he was about to pull her in when a priority message came on the holo.

He moved past her without a word and knelt in front of the hologram as an image formed… a raspy deep breathing filled the void of silence.

The Inquisitor uttered the words with fear and authority, “Lord... Vader.”

[Dove Gray]

Stupid interruptions, she sighed, almost pouted, but made no move to stop the inquisitor. Instead, she just kind of... silently retreated to the background, looking out the window instead to pretend to give him some modicum of privacy for this call.

Then she heard the name, and her ears were practically burning. Lord Vader?! Dove glanced over her shoulder to catch a glimpse of the holographic figure of the big mystery man himself.

[The Inquisitor]

Lord Vader spoke in a deep powerful voice even through the holo, “I expect that this matter with Oraka Hin and the Resistance to be resolved immediately. I find your lack of progress disturbing.”

The Inquisitor responded, “He will not evade me, my lord.”

“Admiral Yulani will be assigned to your sector, the Hypermatter fuel is critical to our operations and there can be no interruptions.”

“Yes, my lord.”

“See it done, remember the price of failure, Inquisitor,” Vader finished.

The Inquisitor looked at his metallic hand and frowned knowing well the price of failure and power. He rose seething at his own perceived failures.

[Dove Gray]

Dove let out a breath she didn't know she was holding when Vader finished the call. Even through just a holo-call, there had been visible tension in the room.

Normally, she would've just taken her leave with a quip or witty remark, but... perhaps it was the danger of the situation that intrigued her enough to stay.

So she waited for dismissal, or... perhaps something else? He didn't seem like the type to want a shoulder to cry on.

[The Inquisitor]

The Inquisitor said, “Tomorrow afternoon, my people will pick you up promptly. There is a pool on the skimmer, so if you like swimwear it could be useful. Any questions?”

[Dove Gray]

She considered asking how likely it was for Lord Vader to make an appearance, but on occassion even Dove was smart enough to know that would be poking the bear.

"Swimwear, huh. I'll have to pick out something suitable," she mused in a light-hearted tone. "No further questions at the moment, sir. By your leave...?"

[The Inquisitor]

He walked over and picked up his helmet but waited a moment and said, "Suitable would be good."

[Dove Gray]

Dove had a feeling her idea of suitable was different from those who would attend something like this... did Inquisitors even wear swimsuits?

Mm, well I wouldn't mind seeing that, she passed an appriciative glance over his form.

"Tomorrow then. Have a good night."

[The Inquisitor]

He replaced the helmet and waited by the window and she is shown the way out.

She cast one last look in his direction before being escorted out. It was a strange kind of relief to let her guard down ever so slightly out of his sight, but after a day like today, it would probably be a good while again before she let her guard down at all.
