That's No Moon [Day 0 - LA]

Post by Dapper Dog » Tue Jan 21, 2020 10:16 pm

The Righteous Moon was nearing the end of her journey, perhaps eight to ten hours from arrival at Bankor and filled with refugees, vagrants, and travelers looking to make a better life on the frontier world. A large cargo bay for the frigate had been converted into one big living space with dirty refreshers for public use and plenty of floor space given over to travelers laying on mats, blankets, or in the worst cases bare metallic floors for rest. A dizzying amount of species were huddled here waiting for their arrival and a chance at a new and hopefully better life.

An older human woman, hair now gone gray, starts coughing and puts a cloth to her moth with flecks of blood showing on the dirty cloth. Next to her a younger woman comforted her as she struggles to gasp for air…

The younger woman tried her best to comfort the woman but whatever ailed her was not abating and she glanced around to see if anyone would come to her aid, but it seemed doubtful as folks just tried to ignore the coughing. Travelers dying along these journeys was not common, but it happened and that was just a danger of cheap travel.

She brushed her long dark hair from her face and tried her best to be a comfort but it did not seem enough.

The Healer from Bankor had volunteered to travel aboard the Righteous Star in case any of the new comers needed assistance. Like all refugee ships, the risk for disease and sickness was high.

The hood of her overcoat drawn up, Juri saw the pair of women. Her medpac slung low over her shoulder, she approached and knelt. Those vibrant, lilac colored eyes seemed to glow with concern as she looked at them.

"How long has she been suffering?" She spoke softly, already beginning to search through her kit. If she needed, she had... other... means to help as well.

"Yes." Of a sort... Inwardly, her thoughts brought a smile to her lips. She scrubbed her hands with the sanitizer within the kit, before donning gloves. Gently, she caressed the cheek of the older woman, before examining her features.

Pursing her lips. "I'm here to help, ma'am. My name is Juri." She spoke very softly to the older woman, before administering an anti-bacterial to start. "Are you in pain?"

She moves a hand to comfort the woman and brush her hair back and says, “She’s my grandmother, Heleni. I am so thankful for your help.”

The older woman coughed and wheezed and said, “I am *cough* her grandmother… *cough* Heleni.”

Ooc: I have medicine, a kit, and Force Heal if it matters.

"Heleni..." she spoke soothingly, going through her medkit for the tools needed. Administering medicine as she deemed necessary. "... You're going to be just fine. The journey to Bankor is almost over." She smiled as she spoke, then looked to the granddaughter.

"The journey has been long, I'm sure. Let her rest. The medicine will take effect soon." She spoke calmly to the woman, then back to Heleni.

"It is of no issue for me to lend aid. You never need to thank me."

The woman seemed relieved and added, “Juri, I am not sure what I would have done if you were not here. I’m Delia, I apologize for not saying sooner. It’s been a long journey and we are down to our last creds and if she needs more medicine, I am not…”

She stopped and said, “That’s our burden, are you heading to Bankor for work?”

"I live there. I've traveled off world on other ships in case anyone needed assistance. I know what it's like to lose one's home, and have to pick up and run..."

A moment in time. Gouts of flame raining down on the forests of Dathomir. Hearing the echoes of her sisters screams when she and Soltzai returned.

And the terror of those Commando droids lying in wait.

She shook her head, trying to push back the memory.

"I have a small clinic in Rygor. Nothing special, and I live out with a small farming community. As long as you keep your head down, it is a safe place to live." She offered a smile.

"Do not worry about credits for her care. I make enough to get by at home. Delia, if she needs more, I can help. Even after we land."

While the talking between the two pretty women went on, Elaranu largely ignored it. She wasn't used to space travel, per say. Not like some of the people aboard this shuttle likely were. But she was the sort of person who ignored things not related to herself, and that definitely was not her business. Instead she hummed to herself lightly, as much to drown out the irritating chatter of people as to drown out the discomfort of the cramped and smelly quarters. It smelled far too much like humans in here.

There was also the fact she had none of her tools or equipment with her; Her belts and tools were all in her suitcase in the hold, and lately she'd felt almost naked without them. Those and the pit overalls she'd lovingly modded for her needs. Maybe being in a suit that was practically painted on didn't help that feeling of things being ~different~, but they helped feel less crowded and sweaty in these situations.

...she switched tunes; Apparently that one hadn't been enough to stop her mind from running itself.

“Get this fixed up in two shakes of a Bantha’s tail”
On the other side of the ship, a grease covered Nautolan was tinkering with a young refugees cybernetic arm. Cleary a hand me down, the equipment seemed to have failed utterly, but not if Floats has anything to say about it.

“Tarnation!” She said about it, as the arm sparked violently and whirled around.

“Well, Your limiter is mighty fried, and half your servos ain’t working, but I reckon if we use this part”
She removed a small disc from a satchel and slots it into the arm, which seems to help matters as it’s no longer a swirling death machine.

“Yup, right as rain. ‘Course, now you’re 5% boat. But that’s hardly a bad thing now.”

In truth, she was trying to radiate optimism. But gosh darn wasn’t it depressing see all these refugees uncared for. Just like the old days.

While the woman speaks, Juri thinks she sees the figure of a fellow witch in the crowd… it is there and not there and when she finally makes it out it seems almost translucent and she seems to be opening her mouth and point in her direction but there is no sound.

The woman is Xuvelia, one of her older sisters in the coven that had taught her some of the nuances of healing and manipulating the Force… although the last time she saw her she pointing at her to run before a droid blasted a hole in her chest...

On the other side of the hold near the mechanic but the ruckus is easily heard throughout the hold.

“Hey sleemo you took that from my bag!” a slim faced rodian shouted in Huttese at a taller human male.

The young man probably not even twenty yet said in basic, “Get out of my face bug breath, I didn’t take nothing from you.”

“That was a cherished heirloom! You give it back,” the rodian shouted in Huttese.

The youth cracked a devious smile and said, “Make me?” His free hand resting on what looked like a knife.

She gives the newly armed refugee a pat before standing with a creak and making her way over to where the house is.

She frowns at what appears to be a hand on a knife
“No need for anyone to get hurt”

Juri gently patted Heleni's hand, offering her a smile as she drifted off. Reaching into her kit, she handed Delia a small phial. It was odd, glowing with a slight green luminescence, vapor seeming to curl around inside it. The very last of a poultice.

"If she worsens, give her this in the morning. Mix it with tea. It is bitter, but very beneficial." She stood, looking back in the direction of her sister.

A sister that should be dead.

Clutching the kit to her chest, she offered friendly nod to Delia, before chasing after ghosts.

Things were getting even more noisy it seemed; As much as Ela loved space ships, that didn't mean she loved the people aboard them. As this proved, or the Empire with it's own beautifully haunting ship designs. Taking out a pair of headphones she plugged them into her datapad, looking through her music for something jizzy and smooth.
