Daunt was sitting on his secluded beach cross-legged, inserting new materials into the hilt of his laser sword. He hadn't been able to fix its structural flaws but getting better components required no technical skill, just money.

In the process, he took out the crystal. Once deeply crimson, now orange, but still bleeding darker reflexes. Or maybe they hadn't been there? It felt as if the change he had accomplished may be temporary...

Still, he wanted to make it more of his own. Taking high-grain diamond paper into his fingertips, he started shaping it into something else, and it caved to his will.

It does not seem to have much of a history, unlike other crystals the Jedi probably use this one seems to have been molded through some dark alchemy akin to what the night sisters probably do but steeped in darkness… the only real resonance is what he has impressed up on it.

[Daunt]

"So you've been rather blank, and now you're mine to form." Daunt said to his crystal. "Which is good in its own way. I should name you then, the sword that holds you. How about Defiance? Defy my enemies, defy others' expectations. With a pinch of brutality, so that they'll remember the mark you leave." He grinned. "Come, let's sync up."

He assembled the weapon and rose to practise, expecting Lyla to join him in this at some point.
