Once again, with feeling, and equipment (LE D4)

The lights start to come online and the computerized voice continued, “Please report to Security for a debrief and then medical for inoculation. Thank you for keeping this workplace safe. Remember if there is an Amber Alert seek shelter immediately and utilize the injection set 234R or you will be put into quarantine.”

The floor lights up to show him where security is with directional lights.

Djanik would play along for now, though he set the remote onto a patrol pattern, to try and get as much of a map as he could as he went.

If he could figure out how to clear this security system, he might be able to free himself to explore.

[Dapper Dog]

The security section is where he finds a desiccated body of a guard in an old Republic uniform; the body is leaning against the wall opposite the door and has deep furrows in the chest and arms and lacks ahead. The sentient was probably human or near human and the skin is gray and green with striations of a darker green in it. There is a stain of what was probably blood now black and crusty.

The Computer chimed in, “Thank you for entering Security please fill out a waiver and know that your safety is a top priority here in the facility.”

There is a terminal awaiting input at a green command prompt screen with a blinking cursor. There looks like an old hand or talon print on the screen as well, a blood stain… old and blackened.

The text reads in Basic, <Activate Specimen - HYDRA (y/n)>

Djanik stepped around the terminal, suddenly feeling a lot less happy about the place.

He checked the droid controller, the little ball zipping up and down corridors, scanning away.

I need a map, and fast, and I need to know if whatever it was that did this is still alive...

Staring at the screen in silence, he cast his gaze around the screen, looking for any other information, any clue as to what might be in this... HYDRA.

The one thing he didn't do was touch it. Not yet.

Casting his gaze over the security guard, he looked to see if there were any signs of a clearance card, or something else he could use to upgrade his clearance.

The system had no other clues to what HYDRA is but the guard had a badge smeared with blackened blood due to time and age. It read Chief Security Officer Yui Juko <Czerka Corp. Security Specialist>, there is nothing else of value on the guard.

After the badge is removed the body collapses forward from the disturbance.

The remote can't get past a variety of locked doors and can only map a limited area.

[Djanik]

As the body fell over he hopped back, definitely on edge now. Glancing at the probe map, he gave a small sigh of relief.

At least that was a set of closed doors, and not a man eating thing coming directly after him. He checked the body for a blaster rifle, though he suspected there wouldn't be one. The security ID though...

Reading the tag he scowled.

Czerka.

Bloody of course.

Glancing again at the prompt, he shook his head, and then stepped out of the room.

Time to see if he could find another terminal that didn't risk activating... something... Also maybe an armory. He really felt a pressing need for a bigger gun.

Calling up the small map, he flicked through it, looking for another access point - and also waiting to see if the computer would direct him to get his inoculation.

"Please access security terminal to register and then report to Medical," the computer replied.

[Djanik]

Kriffin...

Djanik turned back, gazing at the terminal with a growing frustration.

How on earth should he decide something like that? He wasn't some sort of Jedi who could just think magic thoughts and have answers fall out of the sky.

Maybe they could take risks like that, maybe they could have such charmed luck.

He wasn't a Jedi.

With an angry snort, he snapped "Why not tell me, this Speciman Hydra - what is it, and what is its current condition?!"

Not that it was likely to tell him.

Glancing again at the dead body, he shook his head.

If the computer didn't speak up, he had no choice but to hit 'N'. He wasn't a Jedi, invulnerable and heroic. He was just a navy officer, out of his depth.

[Dapper Dog]

"HYDRA, advanced security protocol, engage advanced security protocols, please select Yes, if not select no. This will disengage Security Lockdown," the system said.

[Djanik]

"Define advanced Security Protocol?"

Hope sprang eternal.

[Dapper Dog]

"Define advanced Security Protocol?"

Hope sprang eternal.

The system responded, "Classified."

[Djanik]

Of course.

Djanik tapped his chin thoughtfully.

"Can you confirm the status of other life signs in this station?"

[Dapper Dog]

"Fifteen life signs," the system responded.

[Djanik]

Fifteen!?

Djanik pulled up the map again - trying to get a sense of which doors he could close, and what route would get him back out - if the lockdown ended... could he close the doors manually? Create an exit route if the life forms were... monsters.

That and, he also wanted to know, "Can you ID the life signs - species, condition, rank, name. Also, please identify medical purpose of mandatory inoculation."

"Classified," the system responded.

[Djanik]

"Are the life signs Republic personnel in need of assistance?"

Djanik was trying to puzzle out if he could set up a 2nd wall of doors, this time under his control, and not the facility computer - if so, he could disable the lockdown and then manually open or close the lockdown.

OOC: He will probably need to hack the Computer system to do something like that as it is typically reliant on powered doors.

OOC: Will those advantages give him an idea of how to do that without triggering the dialogue that is currently pending?

Djanik could see the pattern... but he wasn't sure he could implement it.

Going back to the security console, he tried to think of a way around the dialogue without triggering it.

What a strange catch-22.

OOC: He might be able to bypass it but it would require a skilled slicer or a data spike and even then it may just lock the system down completely and require some kind of override that no one alive even has. Course he could always come back.

[Djanik]

Coming back was probably the sensible course of action.

Though the question was, what could he possibly gain that would allow him to proceed, where he now couldn't?

Thinking in silence for a moment, he finally decided to check out one last thing...

Pulling up the map his remote was still zipping around and generating, he looked for two things. First, another console he could access, and then he tried to see how many doors led further into the facility, and what each locked door was labeled - specifically looking for an armory, lab designations, or anything else which might indicate where life forms might be, or might not be.

There are four other doors, labeled the following; Black Lab, Green Lab, Specimen Reserve, and Staff Habitation. The remote also found a second corpse just outside Staff Habitation but it looks strange, gray and green skinned hunched mixing predatory aspects like sharp teeth and talons with a humanoid shape and scraps of clothing.

There seem to be panels at each door but they blink with message <Facility Lockdown in process please report to Security>.

That...

That was enough of that.

He'd come back, either with the tools to get answers, or with bombs to seal this place for good.

Packing up his equipment, the remote doing lazy donuts about his head, beeping helpfully, he began making his way back out of the facility.

He had a lot of questions, and he wasn't sure he would like any of the answers.

At the door he had cut through to enter, he would pause to lift up the metal panel he had removed and spot weld it back into place.

Better to *not* leave that door open.

Inside the facility a machine intelligence started to power up.

Analyzing inbound data, Captain Dak Kaveen, security code 1-3-Omega-Pilot-9-3-Kilo. Reassign priority access, denied, rerouting priority access through Republic command module, accepted. Assign SuperUser access, reassign to user HYDRA.

Complete.

Create SuperUser HYDRA reassign root access. Complete, remove SuperUser Captain Dak Kaveen. Complete. HYDRA containment <Remove>, Select Option Yes. Assigned. Transfer Code to Chassis… 5% … 15% … 35% … 55% … 75% … 99% … 100% Installation in progress.

Activate HYDRA chassis. All systems nominal, Corrupted Files None.
