[D4 EM] Taking down the wall

The sprawling worker tenements built in the shadow of the factories and industry that exploit them. Criminals control the streets but make sure not to get to bold lest they be raided by Imperial storm troopers.

Then Djanik began his own trip around the joint, taking in the security, trying to gauge how many there might be, and how heavily armed, along with whether the club would intersect with the access ways under the city - utility access tunnels.
He gets a text message from Veras: <Hey you free tomorrow, I was gonna be in the city, mfl?>

Then a second message: <Oops sorry if sleeping>

Dak set about fiddling with the lock seeing if he could get it open, he was never much of a lock smith but hey itd be easiest if he had this back access.

Djanik paused his sneaking, and stared at his datapad in bemusement.

MFL?

Uh...

He puzzled over it in silence for a while, and really wished Scrap was there to tell him what that meant.

Glancing around, he finally shrugged and replied, <I don't currently have plans for the day - would you like to meet for breakfast?>

Then he admitted his age and uncoolness: <also, mfl = ?>

Putting away his datapad, he resumed his assessment of the dingy club.

It seemed even a broken clock was right twice a day, the lock gave way to his tinkering. He made it as quiet as possible as he raised the lid and looked inside.

Another message from Veras <Hahaha m(0.o)m sorry I meant meet for lunch, or meat for lunch if you like puns!>

The next message is an animated jawa laughing.

The opened hatch leads to a dirty sewer line.

Well kriff that was not what he had expected but beggars and choosers. It wouldnt be the first sewer Dak had waded in, he lowered himself into the hole remembering to take shallow breaths as he went.

Djanik rolled his eyes.

Of course it mean that. By the Force, he was old.

<Ah, yeah, lunch sounds good.>

He'd try not to get killed before then.

Making his way around the corner, he cast his gaze around to see if any manhole covers were nearby - the access tunnels for power and water might connect to the bar - it was common in low rent places like this - after all, the mechanics weren't paid enough to make their own jobs harder, so keeping an access panel to the power lines was easier than proper security.

Outside Djanik did find a power conduit but it was a mess of wires and seemed to be a junction for the whole block not just the building.

Meanwhile the tunnel moved forward and then dropped down about five meters into a larger sewer line. It looks like this must be fed from several systems in the building and then drops into a larger network which might have access to the Trash Pit.

This was possibly becoming more trouble than it's worth but luckily Dak brought climbing gear as the drop looked a bit further than was safe to just jump. He would look around for a loop or anything to affix his climbing gear to.

Now in the main line he would begin looking around for anything that looked like it might lead into the seedy bar. The things he did for the slums.

He heard voices coming from what looked like an access tunnel off the main line.

Dak heard the sound of voices and began following it down the access tunnel trying to be as quiet as he could as obviously these tunnels werent sound proof.

Oh bugger it.

Djanik hopped down, hoping the access tunnel and the sewer weren't going to be directly joined... surely this planet knew how to use pipes, right?

Right?

He hears in Huttese from a deep male voice, "The Disciple is pleased with the progress, and the Wall has their full support. If your people need patching up we have a sawbones in the city, she runs a clinic."

A reply in Huttese, "Good to know, moving on the 7th Street Rancors next, should be easy."

The same deep voice in Huttese, "Alright well sort this out and let's get back inside, Viula is dancing and I ain't missing that."

There is a blaster retort and then something splashed into water and then the brief sound of music and then nothing.

Hmm interesting Dak made amental note of the information and continued on hoping to find a spot he could actually enter the establishment with.

There is a secure door with no panel, it probably opens from the inside. Also a floating corpse of a togruta in the sewage water.

Will check over the dead togruta for anything relevant and or valuable.

After that will more closely inspect the door to see if it was at all possible to open from this side.

Tough woman with a blaster bolt wound in her skull, as for the door short of blowing it open it wasn't opening fro this side. They might be gangsters but they seem to value their security.

Dak sighed but was glad to at least know about the other door. He made his way back outside and looked for Djanik to let him know what he found.

Djanik, presumably, hadn't gotten very far underground yet, trying to figure out if anything connected to the basement of the bar.

So the would meet in the middle and Dak would signal they go up and signal to be quiet.

Assuming Djanik follows once they emerge into the building up top and were out of ear shot of the druggies he would talk to the Pantoran in a quiet voice "There is an access tunnel that leads into the place but it only opens on the other side also a body down there. You find anything?"

"Not much, the power system here is an absolute mess."

He gestured with his hands, indicating a jumble.

"You could try to cut power to the bar, but you'd be as likely to turn off the barber shop on the corner. It'd be safest to just cut it all, if you really needed. I was hoping there would be a basement access, but I didn't turn anything up yet. Maintenance tunnels seem to be... hit or miss... out here."

"Hmmmm" Dak thought for a moment "I have some scanner goggles, here" he gives Djanik his comm frequency "you go out by the power box and if I give you the signal you shut down the power and I can use the confusion to escape possibly through the back. I should be able to get in the front door but either just walking in or paying off the door guy. Sound good?"
