Day 4 EE - Welcome to my humble Aboat

[Dapper Dog]

"I served the Republic, that was my duty," he said calmly devoid of his usual mirth.

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus gazed off into the distance for a time.

"Well, it's different now. There's no Republic, just the Empire. Even if we wanted to, the only..." he frowned, "major government we could be loyal to, wants to kill us." He shrugged. "I think the way for Jedi to survive now is to trust each other, and the Force."

It was half directed at the audience, half to himself.

[Dapper Dog]

"Well kid the Force is always our ally, even when things are at their darkest," he replied.

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus smiled, just a little. "Well, that's true."

He tilted his head, looking at Daz. "Uh... do you want anything? Or, I don't know, feel stuff?" Petrus spread his hands. "I dunno, I feel like I should be a good great grand-whatever, make sure you're doing alright. Visit you from time to time or something." He glanced at Floats, frowning confusedly.

Petrus smiled, just a little. "Well, that's true."

He tilted his head, looking at Daz. "Uh... do you want anything? Or, I don't know, feel stuff?" Petrus spread his hands. "I dunno, I feel like I should be a good great grand-whatever, make sure you're doing alright. Visit you from time to time or something." He glanced at Floats, frowning confusedly.

Gently "Petrus....he's a cube, we can't help him anymore."

[Dapper Dog]

"She's right, I am just a semblance of what Daz was, I am long dead, kid," he responded.

"But I can guide you, and help you."

[Petrus Karath]

"I know!" Petrus waved his arm, gesticulating at the Holocron. "But he's a talking cube, and I'm related to him! Sorta! It's just... weird."

"She's right, I am just a semblance of what Daz was, I am long dead, kid," he responded.

"But I can guide you, and help you."

Petrus sighed. "Well, okay. That's okay, then." He pressed his lips together, silent for a few moments, blinking.

Finally, he shook his head. "Well, we could probably use some help and guidance from time to time. So, thanks."

[Fathynyu Kurrek]

"I know!" Petrus waved his arm, gesticulating at the Holocron. "But he's a talking cube, and I'm related to him! Sorta! It's just... weird."

"Hey now, you still got family that ain't cubes."
She wraps an arm around Petrus' shoulders and gives him a tight squeeze

"And, it is a might bit strange, but if you let yourself get all up in a knot about it, you're not doing great uncle Daz Boi any good now. Least he's sort of here now to help out, as you say?"

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus couldn't help but laugh, cheered by Floats' words. And her hug, even as she pulled him a little off-balance.

"Yeah, that's right. You're right, of course." He smiled. "Thanks, Floats. We are kinda family, all of us, huh?"

"I meant your sister silly, but sure, I'll take it! You're the closest to family I got on account of my adoption at young age. We just gotta look out for eachother."

"Yeah..." Petrus sighed, although not unpleasantly. "Sometimes it was just her and me against the galaxy, it felt like. Both before I joined the Order, and... right after." He shrugged, smiling. "I'm glad it's not just us anymore. That there's someone else who could look after her..." Petrus trailed off.

"Yeah..." Petrus sighed, although not unpleasantly. "Sometimes it was just her and me against the galaxy, it felt like. Both before I joined the Order, and... right after." He shrugged, smiling. "I'm glad it's not just us anymore. That there's someone else who could look after her..." Petrus trailed off.

"No man is an island. We're all boats moving from island to island awash on a stormy sea....the sea being life and the islands being people, yah see?"
Nodding firmly

"You got lots of boats with you now, and she's in her own too and doing fine. And things are trending sorta not down? You got lots of friends, most of them attractive women. But then there's the big Trandoshan with the huge-" she stretches her hands apart "-statue. And all the other good resistance folk. You don't have to carry them all in your boat if you don't want to."

"Uh..." Petrus scratched his head, trying to sort out the metaphor, but Floats moved on before he could.

Wow, he must really have a lot of attractive female friends if even Floats was commenting on it. His eyes briefly widened as she spread her hands, only for Petrus to breath a sigh of relief as she clarified.

"Thanks Floats." Petrus finally said, smiling. "You're right. I should be focusing on now, anyway. I guess I get hung up on stuff, sometimes." His lips quirked. "I wonder what they'd say? Our old Masters, I mean."

She bumps him on the shoulder

Petrus half-smiled. "I suppose mine would say 'consider your actions, young one. But chin up, chin up'." It was clear from the way his voice changed that Petrus was imitating his old master. "He was a pretty good guy. Big on proper thought and consideration. Not big on fighting." He frowned. "Maybe not big enough on action. I've been thinking about that a lot lately."

"That's a hard one, ain't it? You don't do anything, that can be bad. You do something, next thing you know you're a black ops Jedi assassin. Kinda feels like the thinky folk and the doey folk should sit down and hash it out. You worried you spent to much time thinking, I take it?"

Petrus hesitated a moment (thinking), and then nodded (doing). "Yeah." He said, his gaze dropping away. "I thought I was just being cautious. Thinking about consequences. But then..." he waved a hand. "Not doing anything."

He spread his hands. "I was telling myself that's what we needed to do. I mean, we all died." Petrus' clenched his jaw. "But... I think I was just afraid. I don't know."

Floats exhales loudly through her nose
"I don't describe bravery as my best quality, so I was just thinking of finding somewhere self and holing up for a while. And I guess I did, is that a bad thing? Not wanting to die? You can't beat yourself up about being some kid who didn't want to get executed...or worse."

[Petrus Karath]

"Yeah." He sighed. "At first, anyway. Maybe even for a while. But after four years... I don't know." Petrus' lips twisted. "I feel like I missed something."

He shook his head. "You made a choice, found a life. I just... didn't die." He took a deep breath. "Nevermind. Things are different now." Another deep breath, and he managed a smile. "Sorry. Cube family gets me weird, I guess."

[Fathynyu Kurrek]

"Yeah." He sighed. "At first, anyway. Maybe even for a while. But after four years... I don't know." Petrus' lips twisted. "I feel like I missed something."

He shook his head. "You made a choice, found a life. I just... didn't die." He took a deep breath. "Nevermind. Things are different now." Another deep breath, and he managed a smile. "Sorry. Cube family gets me weird, I guess."

"I'd be madder than a box of spaces hares in your situation. How about I leave you too alone and go make some tea, lets you folks talk out the cube family stuff with a little privacy?"

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus waved a hand. "No... let me go with you. I need to think about this for a bit. But some tea sounds great." He frowned a moment, thinking. "Do you have any gingeroot?" That was supposed to be good for nausea, which he expected to have again soon.

She takes her fellow padawans hand and hauls him up gently before bowing to Dazcron
"Thank you for seeing us Daz, we're gonna go settle our thoughts via caffination."

The Dazcron shuts down since it does not seem to be needed.

Once again, Petrus found himself hauled upright by Floats. Well, he was learning that it was better to just roll with it. His gaze lingered on the Holocron a little longer, his expression strange as it turned off.

"Ummm..." He brushed a hand back through his hair. "Thanks for, uh, introducing me." He smiled wryly. "It's not really the same as meeting a long-lost relative. I should've realized that."

Once again, Petrus found himself hauled upright by Floats. Well, he was learning that it was better to just roll with it. His gaze lingered on the Holocron a little longer, his expression strange as it turned off.

"Ummm..." He brushed a hand back through his hair. "Thanks for, uh, introducing me." He smiled wryly. "It's not really the same as meeting a long-lost relative. I should've realized that."

"Well I figured you two still needed to meet. Be real selfish to just keep your great uncle cube Daz lying around. And you're always looking for answers to big questions, right?"
