[Day 5 - EA] Brunch at Tiffany's [Side Event]

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus started to speak, hesitated, then scowled, folding his arms over his chest. "They better skip dessert." He said.

He resumed standing at ready, eyes alert.

[Djanik]

Djanik smiled. "I think it's a great dream, though it'd be better if you never had to go to war."

His expression grew a little distant. "It's never as much fun as it looks in the holovids."

As the drinks arrived, he leaned back in his chair and added, "Flying though, that is every bit as fun as it looks. What kind of ship are you fixing?"

[Dapper Dog]

Djanik smiled. "I think it's a great dream, though it'd be better if you never had to go to war."

His expression grew a little distant. "It's never as much fun as it looks in the holovids."

As the drinks arrived, he leaned back in his chair and added, "Flying though, that is every bit as fun as it looks. What kind of ship are you fixing?"

"It's a star fighter," she said proudly.

"Tested the weapons myself."

[Djanik]

Djanik blinked.

"Really? Starship weapons are no joke."

Raising an eyebrow, he said, quietly, "You have an interesting family - you run a farm, collect star fighters... You must not have much time for hobbies."

[Dapper Dog]

"I mean fixing the star fighters is my hobby," she offered.

Meanwhile back at Team Mom-Dad

"And a good one, at that."

He chuckled. He wasn't sure where she would have gotten one, but he hoped it wasn't anything too outlandish, like a TIE fighter. It would be absurd if that was what she was working on.

"Did I ever show you my ship? I just finished getting her space-worthy myself."

[Petrus Karath]

Fear might have been Petrus' weakness, but it did help to keep him alert, anyway.

“Now you have to show me, what is it… how fast does it go? You think you could do the kessel run in only four parsecs? I heard someone did it in six, so have to beat that! Are you packing a stage two hypermatter reactor? No you like a stage one… I almost blew up our barn messing with mine but it was a false alarm,” she said laughing.

[Djanik]

That drew a smile - passion for a subject was always endearing, to him at least.

"She's an older ship, an old Rusalka patrol boat. Kuat Systems made them, before the Firespray. I doubt it'd be fast enough to cut the kessel run that short - it's only a class 3 hyperdrive."

With a chuckle, he added, "It does have a kaff dispenser by the bunks, so they were at least doing something right when they made it."

That drew a smile - passion for a subject was always endearing, to him at least.

"She's an older ship, an old Rusalka patrol boat. Kuat Systems made them, before the Firespray. I doubt it'd be fast enough to cut the kessel run that short - it's only a class 3 hyperdrive."

With a chuckle, he added, "It does have a kaff dispenser by the bunks, so they were at least doing something right when they made it."

“Kuat Systems, they build a solid ship,” she said with an appreciative nod.

“Kaff dispenser, now that is fancy living. Did you give her or him a name? You have to name all the great ships, it’s practically a law.”

Both Petrus and Liua noticed when an Imperial transport skiff parked near the cafe just out of sight of those inside the cafe, and six storm troopers filed out. An officer followed and adjusted his hat in the heat and then directed them towards the cafe.

Liua frowned and said, “Well kriff, how do you want to handle this?”

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus lips peeled back from his teeth. "Kriff." He murmured.

He turned to the other two, speaking quickly. "How about I distract them, you get them out. We'll meet up a few blocks away." He named a spot. "Just be careful, they might be watching the back, too."

[Dapper Dog]

"Why don't we just take them out quietly?" she said and grinned mischievously, "Or give them something else to follow?"

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus' lips pressed together, then he nodded. "Give them something else to follow, I like that." He smirked at her. "I'm pretty fast, but I bet you know the best places to slip away. You got this?"

He felt a twinge of fear for her, but the rest of them had been in a war when they were younger than her... and Liua was a Jedi now. He needed to trust her.

[Xanna Teevou]

She had tensed a little as they pointed out the transport ship. "No one knows these streets like Liua. Okay, you distract them. Petrus, can you keep watch out front while I will get them out? Just in case one of us needs back up, you can see better from there."

It sounded like they had a plan. Hopefully the force was with them.

[Dapper Dog]

“Hey sleemos!” she said rushing out the door and chucking a rock, it bopped one alongside the helmet causing them to turn. “Kriff the Empire, Jays forever!”

The one she hit shouted, “Stupid kid!”

The officer added, “Two of you arrest that youth the rest-”

Liua sighed and ignited her lightsaber and then ran down an alley shouting, “Do I have your attention now!” She moved quickly dodging stands and then ran along the wall and hopped over a wall as the troopers started their pursuit, the Jedi taking priority over the current target!

OOC: The troopers give chase.

[Petrus Karath]

"She really does have a way with words, huh?" Petrus said, smiling fondly, as Liua led them on a chase.

He turned to Xanna, giving her a nod. "Go ahead. I'll cover you." He took a deep breath, chest rising and falling, drawing on the Force...

"Yes, but she did not learn that from me. She walked smoothly out from their cover, past the incandescent officer and into the coffee shop. Xanna had learned a few things from Liua though. The officer could call in extra support if they were not quick. As the opportunity presented itself she attempted to relieve the officer of his comlink without his knowledge, street thief style.

Day 5. EA. Oops I accidentally bumped into you. Average Streetwise. Destiny flip.: 1eP+2eA+2eD 2 successes, 2 threat

She snatched it with ease and was nearly away when it chirped to life with an message, “Ensign Bryce, we need a status update!”

The officer paused and reached for his communicator and then saw Xanna with it and said, “You two get that… that… THIEF!” Two storm troopers turn and start to give chase towards Xanna!

OOC: Threat used!

[Xanna Teevou]

Fortunately she hadn't just learned how to pick a pocket from her slightly shady friends (looking at you Jenna). As the troopers gave chase she easily managed to lose them in the back alleys. She managed to turn the situation to their benefit. Without too much difficulty she found herself at the back door of the cafe.

Day 5. EA. Evading the goons. Streetwise. Dapper flip: 1eP+2eA+1eC+1eD 1 success, 4 advantage

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus blinked as Xanna suddenly performed a pretty good lift, and then dashed away. He took a deep breath. Well, he'd just have to trust her, too.

Instead, he moved quickly into the cafe, and from there to Veras and Djanik's table. "Hello there." He said, waving cheerfully, even as his blue eyes held worry. "Sorry to interrupt, but your dad's old pupil was just sending some friends of his to check on you. Maybe you should get a rain check?" He nodded towards the back door.

[Dapper Dog]

Veras buried her head in her hands and tried to see if she could vanish… this was literally the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to any one ever.

“Are you serious Petras…” she murmured her head on the table.

[Petrus Karath]

"Extremely." Petrus said. He leaned forward, his voice dropping lower. "There's a squad outside. The others are dealing with them, but we need to go, now."

[Djanik]

Djanik had been about to respond that no, he hadn't named his ship, when Petrus came barging in.

Looking slightly baffled, he tried to follow the exchange, not entirely knowing who this was, and why they were here.

Finally, they said something about a squad outside, and the hair on the back of his neck started to stand up.

"Come on, let's get it to go - I can show you my ship, eh?"

A nice, normal conversation to have, nothing to see here folks.

Rising from the chair, he offered her his hand, still in 'gentleman officer' mode, brain not fully suppressing old etiquette courses that had been beaten into him by a terrifying elderly pantoran woman in his youth.

She took Djanik's hand and followed.
