[Day 5 - EA] Brunch at Tiffany's [Side Event]

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus directed the little group towards the back.

"Is your ship close?" Petrus murmured quietly to Djanik, walking next to him. "And can you shoot?"

[Djanik]

"Yes, and yes."

With a faint scowl, he added, "Also, who are you?"

[Xanna Teevou]

Meanwhile out at the back of the cafe...

Xanna had enjoyed a low key professional conversation with the chef. He had to get back to to work so she waited for the others to appear.

She had turned the volume down on Ensign Bryce's comlink to a more sensible level and was now listening in to Imperial communications while keeping watch for storm troopers.

[Petrus Karath]

"Petrus." Petrus said blandly. "We met a few weeks back. You gave me and a few friends of mine a lift; you remember that, right? Thanks again for that, by the way. Oh, and I'm a friend of Veras and her father."

From the little bag over his shoulder, Petrus pulled out a grapple gun, handing it to Djanik. "Here, why don't you hold onto this? Just in case."

[Dapper Dog]

Meanwhile out at the back of the cafe...

Xanna had enjoyed a low key professional conversation with the chef. He had to get back to to work so she waited for the others to appear.

She had turned the volume down on Ensign Bryce's comlink to a more sensible level and was now listening in to Imperial communications while keeping watch for storm troopers.

Over the comm were reports:

“She has a speeder now…” came a trooper.

“Maker, where is the Ensign… where am I… I think I am lost,” another chimed in.

“Clear the channel I got her in my sights, sector…” and then static. It clears up and there is Liua’s voice, “This is… Trooper Sleemo, I’m uhh… just fine.”

“Who is this?” another called.

“Everything is fine here… just uhh, lost my helmet,” she replied.

“Give me your designation!” another voice shouted.

“Jays for life!” and then more chaotic chatter.

[Djanik]

Djanik led them out the back, snagging the appetizer on the way out, throwing a credit chip to the staff. "Keep the change."

As he was offered a gun, he held it, expression bland. "I see. I don't think we were introduced."

Entering the alley behind the restaurant, he glanced at Veras, and added, "I think they might have been after me - I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ruin lunch."

[Dapper Dog]

"No I am pretty sure it was me... my dad's... important," she said sadly.

[Djanik]

Djanik raised an eyebrow.

"Well, then we'll need to keep you safe from them."

He was gentle, but swift, as he started leading the way down the alley, checking the street with a practiced sweep of his eyes. Now he was moving like a soldier.

"The garage I've been using isn't far - if we can get there stealthily, I can get you out of the city."

[Dapper Dog]

OOC: Stealth at Hard flipping a Destiny and a boost die for Liua giving them a wild chase.

[Xanna Teevou]

"It sounds as though our other friend has things well in hand. Hello Veras." She looked at the other Pantoran, noting his facial scars. "You must be Djanik. This sounds like a sensible plan." She gave them all and encouraging nod and stepped in beside Petrus as Djanik took the lead.

Djanik was trying to be stealthy, but he wasn't used to carrying a strange grapple gun in one hand, and a pretty teen in the other, so his usual 'act natural' tactic didn't seem to work here.

(OOC: Not sure what we can use advantage for here)

"Hmm, I have a bad feeling about this." There were troopers in their way.

OOC: How about, we can't get to Djanik's place without being spotted by Stormtroopers, but the transport they arrived on is unguarded and available if we double-back?

Edit: Spotted but Liua shows up sounds awesome.

(OOC: Spotted at a distance, so we have a head start? Or maybe spotted, but Liua shows up?)

[Djanik]

(I'm fine with a head start, personally, being far away from potential inquistorsabering sounds good to me.)

Djanik cursed his clumsiness under his breath as he realized he had given the game away. It would be time to do something more dramatic, though he wasn't yet decided what.

[Dapper Dog]

They were nearly there when a trio of troopers saw them sneaking and said, “Hey that’s the girl… stop them!”

They raise their weapons when they hear a speeder zoom past and slides, Akira style, into the troopers! Liua leaps off at the last second tucking into a roll before getting to her feet and said, “Umm… run!”

[Djanik]

That kid was either the luckiest in the galaxy, or being watched over by some higher power, Djanik didn't know which.

Djanik urged Veras to run, but was careful to ensure he didn't outpace her, as he lead the way toward the garage.

[Xanna Teevou]

"That was...yes, run!" Xanna followed along with the eminently sensible running plan. She wondered where Liua had learned to drive like that. Probably in her gang days, with stolen speeders...

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus certainly didn't need to be told twice. He ran!

The group get to Djanik's ship!

[Djanik]

"Sorry I don't have time to give you a proper tour Veras."

Djanik keyed the startup sequence, gesturing her to the 2nd seat behind him.

The others... "You have a vehicle of your own?" He frowned, wondering why he kept being asked to haul groups - maybe he should have tried to find a big freighter. "If not, I'm afraid you'll have to split the two bunks and hold on tight."

Already he was keying the engines online, their steady hum reassuring in a galaxy that was less and less comfortable for him every day.

Flicking on his sensors and communications, he began checking to see if pursuit was close, and if he could capture any Imperial chatter indicating if they were calling in any backup.

[Xanna Teevou]

Since Djanik's hands were full Xanna tossed the 'borrowed' comlink to Veras. "You can listen in to them with this, it is still active I just turned it down a little. Come on you two," she smiled at Liua and Petrus, "it is time to get cosy." she jumped in to the bunks and braced herself.

[Dapper Dog]

OOC: Computers check at Hard to catch Imperial chatter. Or that...

[Djanik]

Djanik caught the commlink, nodded, clipped it to his collar, listening for trouble.

If they'd lost them, maybe he wouldn't need to draw attention, otherwise, it'd be time to get moving.

He hovered one finger over the garage door opener, waiting to find out.

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus grimaced. "I never liked ship travel, but really, this is a whole other level."

He, too, climbed into the bunk with a sigh. He'd thought getting closer to Xanna sometime, but his imagination had never included Liua squished up awkwardly next to him.

He gripped the side as tightly as he could.
