[Day 5, MM] Safe as houses (Closed)

[Xanna Teevou]

A call to Mahon had given her the information she needed to find the mysterious Rayne man. After their early morning at the ship it was simple enough to convince Jenna to come with her on the way to whatever else her friend was doing today.

When they arrived she politely asked to speak with the guest. Was this going to be a big win, or a bust? It would soon become apparent.

Luck, ever, was on the side of the thief who came prepared. Though she wasn't quite sure if that extended to meeting spy types, of which Jenna was most certain Rayne was. People like Rayne played by entirely different rules, but maybe, she hoped, her experience would prove worthwhile to keeping Xanna out of trouble. However it might be be found, through something as simple as a bad deal or otherwise.

After all, in her experience, Jedi had a hard time acclimating to how the world really worked as Jenna had seen it.

[Dapper Dog]

They let him inside once they were sure they were not followed and such. The man in question was in a small bedroom sitting on his bed cleaning a blaster. He looked up as they entered and said, “New faces? I am not familiar with either, well good morning all the same, luvs.”

Xanna nodded at him, watching his practiced movements. "I was in the reserves ship when we liberated the prison camp, but I saw you at the planning session. You are Rayne, yes? I am Xanna, and this is Jenna, good morning."

She looked around the small room and back at Rayne. "I had a very interesting conversation with the man they call the Bone King. So, I thought I should come and speak with you."

[Dapper Dog]

"I hope it was more productive for you than it was for me," he replied.

[Xanna Teevou]

"Indeed, apparently he liked my 'pretty blue face'." She looked amused. "Can you me more details of this alliance you proposed? He told me about his resources but wanted more information on your plans. It may be easier for me to convince him."

[Jenna Karath]

Jenna took up a nice wallflower stance, like she had the first time she saw this Rayne character, and moved about the room inspecting it idly.

As she was wont to do.

[Dapper Dog]

"Indeed, apparently he liked my 'pretty blue face'." She looked amused. "Can you me more details of this alliance you proposed? He told me about his resources but wanted more information on your plans. It may be easier for me to convince him."

The room was pretty bare besides a small dresser and a box for his kit neatly organized. He responded to Xanna, “It’s simple Bail Organna and some senators loyal to the Republic are trying to form a rebel alliance and fight back against the Empire.”

Her heart fluttered a little. "I see... and how is this going to work exactly? I think the King is interested but wants to know his resources are not going to be wasted here to no avail."

[Dapper Dog]

"Well the Mon Calamar have ships, we can get some of those ships... they can propose things in the Senate to slow down things here on Bankor, and we provide support to the alliance her and elsewhere in the galaxy," he said.

[Xanna Teevou]

Tapping her chin Xanna thought about this for a while. "Could we get any of those ships to Bankor, soon? We might be able to deal with that Star Destroyer ourselves, assuming someone like you would be able to assist on the inside. But some back up would be important."

An idea was forming. It was a little crazy perhaps, but it might just work.

[Dapper Dog]

"I could get one here quickly, assuming we have a plan," he said. "How soon, is soon?"

[Jenna Karath]

"Are we..." Jenna turned about, she wasn't shy about other people's things and had been half considering checking the dresser with her hand on the handle when she turned around, "seriously considering something like that? It sounds like you're both starting to talk like you're going to turn this last ditch effort into the start of a war. Is that even possible?"

[Dapper Dog]

"This was already a war, luv," he replied.

[Jenna Karath]

"Wars have two sides," she said, critically, "and as far as I can tell the only side that has anything of a fighting force is the Empire. Clone wars.. that was a war, more often than not these days it's just a slaughter. Not sure how you expect to see Bankor through this," she touched on the thread, a thought, and followed it through, "or even what you expect to gain from this? What would that rebel alliance of yours even gain from Bankor? This help, whether it's those ships or support in the senate, has to come at a cost. Nobody does anything for free," she said, glancing then to Xanna.

Took some time, but she found her key note.

[Dapper Dog]

"Maybe in your world, luv, but we are here to fight for the galaxy," he responded.

[Xanna Teevou]

"The Emperor will not take kindly to it, but perhaps he can be restricted by what leverage remains in the senate." She gave Jenna a look that contained more than a little melancholy. "If we are ever to free the galaxy from the Empire's tyranny we will need to start somewhere Jenna. If diplomatic means can succeed we must try, but we must be prepared to fight as well."

"I could get one here quickly, assuming we have a plan," he said. "How soon, is soon?"

"You asked me how soon is soon. We can not expect a fleet, even a small one, to arrive in a day. There are rumours that the Emperor's enforcer will be coming to Bankor. We should make our move before he can arrive." If Lord Vader appeared before they could act it might be for nothing.

"The Bone King has a ship or two with weapons that he says could distract a Star Destroyer. If we can get our people on board and take it...that would remove the Emperor's stranglehold on the planet. So, is it possible to take over a Star Destroyer, or else render it harmless from within? If we can do that, perhaps our allies can send some ships and take over the 'protection' of Bankor?" She looked at Jenna. "It is a gamble, but it could be a spark of hope."

[Jenna Karath]

"Or it could be the start of a doomed Bankor," she said, crossing her arms, "but... I'm just a girl from Coruscant. I'm willing to acknowledge this talk of.. rebellion against the Empire is far out of my field."

"Just a practical girl, with practical dreams, who doesn't want to see her friends and family throw their lives away for something that might be doomed to fail," she looked to Xanna, met her eyes, it was about as earnest in her appraisal as she could be.

[Dapper Dog]

"Then it fails, but better to try than be slaves to tyranny and complicit in evil," he responded.

[Xanna Teevou]

"Inaction is a choice. The galaxy needs hope and we have a chance to do something about it." She looked at her friend in understanding. "I understand how you feel Jenna. I also know that I must make a choice, and I choose to act."

She looked at Rayne. "How long would take to get those ships here? I think our friend will be happy to join in if he knows he is not alone."

[Dapper Dog]

"The bulk could take some time, week or two but we could some of the faster ships here in hours maybe a day," he said.

[Xanna Teevou]

"That is better than I expected Rayne. I will relay this to the Bone King and see if he can be convinced to join us." It felt as though there was a real possibility here. She hoped that the force was with them.

[Dapper Dog]

"The trick will be drawing the Dictator away from the city to limit casualties," he said.

[Xanna Teevou]

"Yes, a diversion of some sort. If it is over the city then millions are at risk." Perhaps they could be drawn away to chase Jedi but that was a long shot. "Do you have an idea?"

[Jenna Karath]

"Anything real would be a risk of people," she chimed back in again, "but maybe if you got someone inside to mess with their sensors some? Could inspire them a need to adjust accordingly with as little risk to people as possible. Otherwise... sounds like you need to start a fight, somewhere, and I'm not sure if Bankor quite has the might for something like that?"
