[Djanik]

"Maybe but... this is worse."

He banged his head on the way out of the heap, and swore. "Kriffin rust heaps. Was a time we took ships to breaking yards and salvaged them properly."

Standing back up, he added, "Didn't used to have military ships turned on protestors - have hundreds dead in 'peace-keeping' missions."

The look in Djanik's eyes was, for just a moment, very dark.

Then he shrugged faintly.

"Maybe this is just the end of a long road, and I can only now see that - I used to believe in something. I wish I still did."

[Venator Praedae]

"Maybe ids da end." Venator says darkly.

"Bud ya know wha da means? Dere is a new beginn'n com'n." He continues sifting through junk.

[Djanik]

"I hope so."

Djanik looked at the mandalorian, wondering what a new beginning would look like to a warrior like that.

[Venator Praedae]

"In case yer wonder'n. I dun really care. So long as dere credids are good. Imma just gonna do my dhing and live da way I wand." Venator comments as he picks up a prospective piece of scrap it looks pretty clean and untouched by any rust.

"How's dis?" He asks showing the piece to Djanik.

[Djanik]

Djanik considered the part.

"It could work, with some effort and luck."

He shrugged.

"I just don't trust those in charge to permit me to live how I choose, these days."

[Venator Praedae]

Venator nods and secures the piece away in his backpack. "Why da ya need someone da give ya permission? Jus live ya life da way ya wand." He says like it is the simplest thing to do in the world.

[Djanik]

Djanik gave a faint chuckle.

"Well, in part, if you want a career as an officer, there has to be a Navy that hires blue people."

[Venator Praedae]

"Dere is probably a demand somewhere." Venator comments. "Can say da milidary life is for me."

[Djanik]

Djanik shrugged.

"They do have a monopoly on the fastest, most heavily armed ships."

He couldn't hide a wry grin.

"Which has an appeal, all on its own."

[Venator Praedae]

Venator chuckles. "Sounds like ov'rcompensashion do me. Bud hey, differend schrokes for differend folks."

[Djanik]

"I don't know, I think you haven't lived until you pull 11 Gs."

With a faint shrug, he picked through some more scrap.

[Venator Praedae]

Venator nods and continues digging through scrap. "So you were on of dem fly boys during da war den? Do ya have a preference in yer ships?"

[Djanik]

"Well, I flew a V19 Torrent, so I am partial to those..."

Picking up a stabilizer, he was saddened to see that the gyro had been snapped at some point, and now lay in a sad heap of metal.

"Generally speaking, I want something that can turn sharply, both level and in the dive, have a reasonable top speed, and that remains stable even during prolonged maneuvers."

[Venator Praedae]

"Hmm... so fair da say you wand maneuverabilidy over firepower?" Venator thinks over what he may know or heard about the V19 Torrent.

[Djanik]

It was an acceptable ship, though it was outshadowed by the Jedi and their interceptors, or the heavy ARC fighters.

"A mixture of the two - you need to be agile, in order to get the shot. You then need to have enough punch that you can make that shot matter."

A little shrug, as he added, "You have to make compromises - too much armor and you lose speed, too many guns and you lose engine power..."

[Venator Praedae]

"Didya dinker wid yer own ship dere? Sounds like ya know 'em like da back of yer hand." Venator asks.

He spots something and he digs it out and cleans it as best he can. "Golly. I hid da jackpod. Check dis oud pardner." In his hands is what appears to be a working power converter.

[Djanik]

"Yeah, that would do it."

He shrugged. "I've done a bit on my own, yeah. It helps to know what is going wrong, when it eventually goes wrong."

[Venator Praedae]

"I canna say I have any dalend fix'n a ship. I do how da fly dem dhough." Venator secures the power converter away into his pack.
