Day 4 EE - Welcome to my humble Aboat

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus chuckled. "Well, not always. I mean, I try. Sometimes I just try to sort out why so many character's on Warrior's Heart have amnesia. I mean, does the writer know someone with amnesia, or what?"

He sighed, his expression thoughtful. "Hey, Floats..." He began. "Do you think being a Jedi still means the same thing that it used to? I mean, when we were Jedi. Not my cube ancestor."

[Fathynyu Kurrek]

She puffs out her cheeks, mulling over the question while water is boiled and tea bags are sort.
"I guess it depends on what you reckon a jedi is. Are we still the guardians of the republic?....That might not be coming back. But are we still fighting the good fight and working with the force? That don't seem so far fetched."

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus leaned on the table, resting on his forearms. "Yeah... I guess that's the difference between us and him, huh? I know some people said that the Jedi serve the Republic. But I don't think that's right. We serve the Force, if anything. Balance, maybe." He shrugged.

"Fighting the good fight..." He sighed. "I guess that's what we're doing here with the resistance, huh?"

[Fathynyu Kurrek]

"I hope so! I'll be mighty disappointed if they turned out as bad as the empire. But hey, ain't that where we come in? It's an opportunity to do some good, and teach some good through the doing, right?"

Petrus smiled. "Yeah. I guess that's what..." He cleared his throat, pausing uncertainly a moment. Should he tell Floats about Master Hin? He trusted her, but he knew there were a lot of eyes on her. I need to think about it.

He cleared his throat again. "I've heard people say that Jedi matter as a symbol. For a thousand generations, we stood as protectors of justice, and peace." His gaze went back to the holocron. "Even if maybe we weren't always perfect at that. Maybe it just mattered that we tried, huh?"

Petrus smiled. "Yeah. I guess that's what..." He cleared his throat, pausing uncertainly a moment. Should he tell Floats about Master Hin? He trusted her, but he knew there were a lot of eyes on her. I need to think about it.

She ships her tea slowly
"I dunno, I hope it matters. Probably mattered to all the people who lived happy lives while we were doing our best."

Petrus snorted, then grinned. "Didn't you ever hear Yoda say that? Once I asked him what it meant, and then he whacked me on the knee with that little walking stick of his." He chuckled. "Your Nam must have been wise."

To the second part... Petrus nodded slowly. "Yeah. Guess that means we should do our best now, huh?"

She rubs her leg ruthfully

"Yup! We just do our best, think real hard and then do it!"

"He really was." Petrus said, wincing in memory. "But you know, I think it was Master Kenobi's zingers that hurt worse. I mean, that guy really mastered sarcasm form, didn't he?" Petrus grinned. "He was funny, though. I really admired him when I was a kid."

"Skywalker." Petrus corrected automatically. "Yeah, I saw him a few times. I know a lot of the younglings really looked up to him. He was older, but not too old, and super cool and all that. The sorta guy who, if there was some crisis, you'd figure he'd know exactly what to do."

Petrus sighed. "I miss it sometimes. I know we're not supposed to, really, attachment and all. But..." He shrugged.

"Skywalker." Petrus corrected automatically. "Yeah, I saw him a few times. I know a lot of the younglings really looked up to him. He was older, but not too old, and super cool and all that. The sorta guy who, if there was some crisis, you'd figure he'd know exactly what to do."

Petrus sighed. "I miss it sometimes. I know we're not supposed to, really, attachment and all. But..." He shrugged.

"Hey" She puts her cup down with a tink "You need another hug? I'm not here to judge you for missing friends and family and home."

Petrus' lips twisted, but then chuckled. "Ah, Floats. You see right through me. I act all sad or whatever, but I'm really just after a hug."

He spread his arms. "It worked though, right?"

Hug and SQUEEZE

"Hey, all-HURK!" Petrus managed to get his arms around Floats right before his life became squeezing. How was she so strong? His forearms flailed helplessly as he found himself squished, not entirely unpleasantly, against her.

"Yep." Petrus gasped. "Acting. Just like I'm acting like I can't breath right now." Well, it was still therapeutic in a way.

She full released her companion and pats him on the shoulder
"Can't have you feeling all down if it's just some happiness you need."

"Nam speaks wisdom again." Petrus said, amused. "My blood is definitely pumping. Believe me."

"Uh..." Petrus brushed a hand through his hair. "Well, you know, I actually have been pretty happy recently. I mean, it sounds kinda weird, what with the Empire and all. But I guess now that I've actually got stuff I'm doing..." He shrugged. "Does that make any sense?"

"Nam speaks wisdom again." Petrus said, amused. "My blood is definitely pumping. Believe me."

"Uh..." Petrus brushed a hand through his hair. "Well, you know, I actually have been pretty happy recently. I mean, it sounds kinda weird, what with the Empire and all. But I guess now that I've actually got stuff I'm doing..." He shrugged. "Does that make any sense?"

"Because before that you were just waiting around and watching Warrior's Heart in your apartment for 4 years?"
When a Nautolan raises an eyebrow, there is a lot of tentacle twitching

"Uh..." Petrus brushed his hand through his hair again; it seemed to be a nervous gesture of his. "I didn't find it until I'd been here about six months. So, uh, yeah. More like three, three and a half." He cleared his throat. "I mean, sometimes I did other stuff. Fixed things for people. Went out... watched other shows..." Petrus trailed off.

"I know you did. But don't it feel going to be out there doing stuff now? You're a old new man now. Even if it was only 3 and a half years of Warrior's Heart....which is great by the way, don't get me wrong."

"Old new man." Petrus said, frowning. "Yeah, okay, sure. And darn right Warrior's Heart is great!"

He picked up his teacup. "Well, that's again, Floats. For the cube time, tea, and the bone-crushing hugs." He lifted the cup like a toast, before taking a sip. He'd need the gingeroot for the ride back...
