The garage door is blown off the hinges as four storm troopers come in blasters blazing at the space craft!

Re: [Day 5 - EA] Brunch at Tiffany's [Side Event]
Well, that was one way to get an answer.
Firing up the engines, Djanik brought the Rusalka patrol boat up off the gantry holding it, and he couldn't hide a twinge of regret. It was a nice garage.
Pushing down the throttle, he sent the ship out, over the street, and then hooking in a tight loop, headed now toward the west.
He'd need to lose all pursuit, before trying to take Veras back to her family.
As the engines began to roar, and he felt himself pushed into his chair, he hoped everyone had a nice good grip. At least the two bunks were niches in the wall, meaning they'd only have to worry about sliding in one direction.

Meanwhile the daring and handsome and also very heroic Lt. Higgy Wiggs made last minute adjustments as his Tie Fighter made an approach vector. “This is Lt. Wiggs I see the ship, moving to intercept.”
Don’t worry momma, I will make you proud he thought as he gunned the engine. The cockpit rattled and shook as he focused on the dastardly rebels! He touched the picture of his best girl, Marta, they were gonna get married when he got back.
Just three more weeks.
OOC: Cool for Initiative, Lt. Wiggs is at Long range and staring speed for both is 2 to keep it simple.
Lt. Higgy Wiggs Init: 1eA+1eP 2 successes, 1 advantage

Djanik picked up the ping on sensors about the same time he leveled out.
Kriff.
"Frag it, you couldn't have been a minute later?"
I don't want to kill a fellow pilot.
I guess... I'm going to have to get used to that too.
Sod it all.

The Tie Fighter continues the approach.
OOC: Djanik is up, they are at Medium right now and currently the Tie Fighter is behind them.

"All right, hot shot... let's see what you can do."
"Hold on!"
Djanik pumped the engines with the foot pedals, sending the patrol boat surging forward, hands tight on the control yokes. Glancing back, he checked his position, weaving through a series of high rising buildings as he built up speed. (Accelerate to speed 3)
Angling his deflectors to the rear, he continued to weave a path through the city, trying to shake the TIE. (Angling deflectors to rear)

Lt. Higgy Wiggs punched it, the engines whining as he closed the distance with incredible speed. No way this cretin was going to get away! He had to protect Bankor from these rebels! For the Empire!
The Tie Fighter was gaining on them!
OOC: Punch It to Speed 5, suffers 3 system strain, and then Fly maneuver to move to Close! Djanik's turn!

"Not making this easy, are you?"
Djanik eased the throttle a little more, letting the ship continue to accelerate into full speed. (Accelerate to speed 4.)
Then he cut engines, whipping the ship into a spin around a nearby tower, letting the ship suddenly dip. For a moment it would seem to hang in the air, and then there was a weightless feeling as it glided down toward the city, and the TIE suddenly overshot.
Then the engines cut back in, the tip of living quarters sliding just barely over the roofs below, a massive kick shoving him back into his seat. As the ship suddenly rose, Djanik grinned darkly, and sought a target lock, weaving in toward the tail of the TIE fighter.
(Gained the Advantage - took rear firing arc)

Kriff!
Djanik jerked the controls as the TIE slipped his sights, fading back into his rear quarter again. The impacts of the lasers ripped across the shields, and then rocked the hull, sending spits of flame erupting out of the side of main fuselage.
(Snap roll, -2 damage, armor -2 damage, 4 hull trauma, 3 system strain, sorry everyone, but you all take 3 strain with me)
Digging in his heels, he hauled the ship into a tight roll, and then back, the lower fuselage spinning a wide circle as the craft balanced on one engine pylon.
As the TIE whipped past, he followed it with his eyes, bringing the ship out of the turn and onto target. Sticking close, he tried to stay on the tail of the TIE fighter. (Evasive Maneuvers, ignore penalty because gained advantage)
Eyeballing it, he squeezed the triggers.
Taking the shot: Gunnery, target stayed on target,: 2eP+2eA+2eD 1 success, 1 advantage, 1 Triumph
The lasers sputtered, struggling to fire at full blast, but they still lanced out, a line of incandescent blue bolts arcing out into the side panels of the TIE, ripping chunks out of the fragile craft.
Weaving through the city, the two craft roared over the slums, still racing away from the city center.
Damage: 5+1, Triumph spent to inflict a Critical hit, advantage to keep the dog fight moving away from the city
Crit: Critical Hit: 1d100 18 (Jostled, 1 strain to pilot and disoriented)
Ship status: Speed 4, Defense: Fore 1/Rear 2, Hull: 11/15, Strain: 6/9

Re: [Day 5 - EA] Brunch at Tiffany's [Side Event]
“Skilled pilot,” Lt. Higgsy Wiggs muttered as he focused in and fired but the nimble craft evaded the shots as he gripped the controls and the ship moved further afield into the desert regions as they tore through the skies jockeying for supremacy.
Meanwhile...
Veras glanced at Djanik and gave him a kiss on the cheek, “For luck and also if I die… at least I had my first kiss!”
“But don’t get us killed!”
Liua chimed in, “I am on the don’t die ship, but with less kissing.”
OOC: Lt. Wiggs Snap Rolls and suffers 3 strain for a total of 4 thus far and takes only 1 Hull Trauma, he uses Stay on target as a Maneuver and then fires but misses!
Lt. Wiggs Stay On Target vs. Djanik: 3eP+3eS+2eD 0 successes

Re: [Day 5 - EA] Brunch at Tiffany's [Side Event]
Djanik was so in the zone that he didn't truly notice the others, beyond a vague hope that they were strapped in tight as he wrenched the controls, sending the craft sliding starboard, the volley of green lasers whipping past the canopy with spine-tingling reverberations.
As he did, he brought the craft into a gliding loop, again the living quarters pivoting around in a lazy loop, doubtless a wild experience for those holding on in the bunks, as he flipped the craft up, until the sky filled the canopy, and let it fully turn overhead, as he was suddenly facing down, toward the ground.
His enemy had gotten a bit predictable, zoning in for the kill, and Djanik hoped to capitalize. (Stay on target as maneuver as well)
The lasers sputtered to life, sending alternating shards of blue light lancing downward at the passing TIE fighter.
Gunnery, Upgrade for target and personal stay on target: 3eP+1eA+2eD 3 successes, 2 advantage
The shots flew true, spearing downward into the TIE fighter. (8 damage, Advantage spent to give Wiggs a chance to survive the crash if this shot is enough to take the TIE down)
For a brief moment, Djanik seemed to be floating, as he muttered, "You're not bad... take the loss kid and get home to your friends... don't be a hero..."
Then he kicked the throttle, sending the Patrol Boat rushing out low, toward the wilderness.

Re: [Day 5 - EA] Brunch at Tiffany's [Side Event]
Lt. Wiggs evades the worst of the shot and is about to press the attack when two junk fighters make their approach vector… seeing that he is currently outnumbered he breaks off pursuit. He did the best he could, he hoped Marta would understand.
He said over the secure comm,“This is Lt. Wiggs breaking pursuit, got pirates or something out here, returning to Dictator.”
Djanik is free and clear as he gets a message in Huttese, “The King says, you have good stout. You bring us more, yes?”
OOC: Snap roll for another reduction to 1 after Armor, forgot last time... so total of 2 Hull Trauma... since not down use the Advantage for a similar effect.

Into the imperial comm he muttered, in quiet voice the man not even hear, "You flew well - never be ashamed to go home alive."
Djanik let out the breath he didn't know he'd been holding as his ship raced across the surface, just barely one hundred feet up.
"Yes, I suppose I will."
Easing back in his chair, he glanced at the damage sensors - shields were still active, just some plating chewed up.
Glancing back, he called down, "Everyone all right?"
Veras got a small smile, sat as she was behind him, and he added, softly, "Still sure you want to fly?"

That was the answer of an adrenaline junkie. With a faint grin, Djanik tipped the ship down, whipping around some cliffs and then opening the throttle for a steady, if fast, trip toward the town where they had met - they'd have to guide his path from there.

"We are all fine here, thank you! No reactor leaks, just a few bruises." She smiled at Liua and Petrus then back toward the cockpit.
"Suggest we do not go directly to Veras' home. Just in case someone thinks to try to track the ship. There is a bigger Imperial presence now in Jaklu, so maybe find a field to set down in. Nice flying by the way!"

Djanik brought them in low, and settled the ship down into a grassy valley, under tall old trees, the tall branches waving in the exhaust from the engines.
As the ship settled to a halt, he released himself from the chair with a slow whistle.
It slowly dawned on him that the girl had kissed his cheek, and what she had said.
Bloody hell, how to handle that?
Deciding to make it a problem for another time, he stood, stretching his arms up, over his head as the adrenaline began to drain out of him.
"I'm glad you're all ok, but what on earth was all that? I thought I would be having lunch... I don't know that we were ever properly introduced... Petrus, was it?"
He glanced between Liua, Xanna, and Petrus, eyebrow raised.

"I am Xanna and I run a soup kitchen in the Slums, this is Liua, you have met Petrus. We are Veras' sisters...and geeky cousin twice removed." She smiled and gave Petrus a wink.
"The Empire wishes harm to those Veras holds dear. They must have spotted her in Rygor?" She flashed a questioning look at Veras and Liua. "Unfortunately it is not safe for her to be seen openly."

Right.
