Djanik landed his ship in close, making his way into the base, dumping what little they had gathered.

Pulling out the pad, he set it down where Vaya and Bowze could work on it, sinking down against the wall with a haunted expression. He had bandaged his wounds, but they... burned... It wasn't right.

Something was very wrong.

Vaya had gotten the call from Djanik that something was up, and went from I have so many questions! to I'm not sure I want to know when she saw the grim, wounded group that presented her a datapad to decrypt.

She and Bowse, unusually silent, put their heads down over their devices, keeping the datapad isolated from the main computer for now...

After many selfies and some personal messages to some friends they find an observation document, the rest of the content seems to be purged or deleted or corrupted.

Vaya helped Bowze to his self-imposed quarantine in an insulated, heated habitation dome in the control center, and then came back to Djanik.

"So... uh, when exactly did you get hurt?" she asked, ready to do the math on the 48-hour countdown and, if necessary, sprint to the patrol boat.

[Djanik]

Djanik did some math on his fingers.

"About... 4 hours, give or take."

With a soft cough, he added, "So, anything usable in there?"

Please let there be something usable. Anything.

Rising, Djanik made his way out of the outpost.

"I'm going to look for information - maybe there's a cure in the medical databases in town... I'll be back."

A solitary figure moved across the ice shelf. The amulet at her throat didn't visibly seem to do anything, however, around her, Juri did not feel the biting sting of the cold, or any discomfort. She trudged along through the snow, her hood up being the only sign of keeping the elements away.

She knew she was on the right track, and seeing a vessel take off only confirmed it. Her wilderness gear was tightly strapped to her back, as the outpost came into view.

After some time, she made it to the door, and found the notifier, ringing it so whoever was inside knew she had arrived.

[Bowze Coppa]

Bowze was crawled up in his improvised quarantine quarters, a feverish mind spinning, was surprised at the buzz.

''Who is it? Don't let anyone enter! The infection cannot spread!'' he yelled with a raspy voice

[Vaya Mer'darrow]

Vaya almost jumped out of her skin to hear the door chime on the exterior entryway. She hadn't heard another ship since Djanik had left. Her mind full of fancies of ice-devils, she blinked to see Juri, looking... incredibly underdressed for the weather. Blinking, she gestured her inside, and shared what she knew.

"They crossed some... creatures. They're worried about infection. They found something in the facility...." she showed her the main entry on the datapad. "That was four hours ago, but this refers to injection, so who knows? It might not even be the same pathogen."

"Describe the creatures, please." She spoke softly, quickly taking her physician's kit from her pack. "Where are the patients?" Concern in her voice, as she looked around.

The Witch stood tall, at least, as tall as her small frame allowed.

A desperate cry from somewhere back

"I am a doctor!" She called back to the voice. "I'm here to help!" Calm radiated in her words, as she looked in the direction of the voice.

[Bowze Coppa]

The voice came from a shut door in the back of a long corridor.

[Vaya Mer'darrow]

"He's in the command center," explained Vaya. "He was barely willing to let me get near him, and he retreated as soon as we were done decrypting that." She gestured to the datapad.

[Juri Saizesh]

The Witch slowly moved to the datapad. Studying it, going throw the decrypted files, she walked towards the sound of the voice. "Vaya, come with me please, any facts you have already gleaned would be very valuable." She spoke softly, sweetly even.

Standing before the door, she knocked.

"Sir? My name is Juri. I run the clinic in the slums. Can you tell me about the creatures that attacked you? What happened?"

[Bowze Coppa]

There was silence for a second

''Mutated things, they played dead...they were dead. Jumped and ripped appart the stormtroopers...the same troopers transformed seconds later into into the same things.''

Another pause

''We are becoming these things, by the maker. I know it.''

[Vaya Mer'darrow]

"He's been like this since he got here. At first I thought he was..." she shrugged uncomfortably. "But then we sliced that datapad."

[Juri Saizesh]

Juri nodded as she listened, still going through the data. Mulling over how Bowze described what had happened. "You haven't transformed yet. And as long as I have breath, you won't be transforming." It was stated with confidence, as she spoke through the wall, thinking on what secrets she might know, or any thoughts that could give a lead.

"Sir? I think I know what it is. Bad news, transformation is definitely what happens. Potential very good news. With enough information from a facility... there is a likely cure."
