“I can’t believe this... that thing I really thought was just a metaphor.” Sinnya looked distinctly shaken. “Okay, so, my Ma’s people have a story about a terrible serpent that can swallow starships whole... and, uh, obviously beings smaller than ships, too. The story goes that when the ancestors and the, uh, their friends...” she glanced at Floats. Brother Sloan wouldn’t hang around with someone who’d carry tales to the Imperials, right? Besides, it seemed like the offworld Sith already knew something about this part of the Aznuri past. “The ancestors broke a curse on the forest, with help from the Jedi. This was thousands of years ago, of course. But they say all that evil took a living form and haunts the wastes of the planet.

“They say it eats almost anything, but some fruits are poisonous to it.”

"Well....I'm sure the jedi thought it was the right thing. Ain't nobody sitting there thinking you break a curse it's gonna unleash a giant metaphorical worm."
Maybe Dazcron heard about it?

"So if it tries to eat us, we just toss in some fruits and it'll leave us alone? What sorta fruits? Cuz I brought grapes with the sandwiches."

"Yeah. I didn't really believe it until now. That thing is... convincing, though."

Sinnya tried to stretch her senses, listen for the tiny vibrations that would tell her if the creature was close, but she was too rattled to focus.

"Yeah. I didn't really believe it until now. That thing is... convincing, though."

Sinnya tried to stretch her senses, listen for the tiny vibrations that would tell her if the creature was close, but she was too rattled to focus.

"Seems a real shame to turn around now. How about this. If it tries to eat us, I'll go and distract it and you scraper. Don't want a nice young lady like you getting mixed up in some kind of evil demon worm."

“That’s tempting, but if I leave you out here to get eaten I might never work as a guide again,” Sinnya countered with an edged chuckle. She’d unslung her blaster rifle and was checking over the settings, just in case. “We better just keep our digits crossed, huh?”

OOC: Upgrade the scavenging roll twice and on Despair you got the Thing coming for you. But on success get double the haul.

Unless we can use the Triumph to find something of Interest rather than Cash Value?

She crept around the edge of the hole, peering in. “Yeah. Can’t be any more dangerous in there than out here, right? I have some rope and stuff for climbing.”

She crept around the edge of the hole, peering in. “Yeah. Can’t be any more dangerous in there than out here, right? I have some rope and stuff for climbing.”

Making their way down the hole they find a small natural cavern with a single corpse... well skeleton much of the clothing was tatters but their was a a dark cloak still wrapped around it.

"Whoah." Sinnya's eyes widened, but she didn't shy from the corpse--a dead body, formerly sentient or not, couldn't hurt her. "Uh... well, if the big serpent got them, there wouldn't be this much left. "

Her lekku shivered nervously as she approached to take a closer look, breaking out a glow rod to illuminate the skeleton. "Do you know anything about... you know... this?" Her wave with the hand not holding the glow rod encompassed the body, its meager possessions, and the cave around it. The word forensics might have come to mind, if only she had been someone who spent more time watching crime holos.

Since she wasn't that person, her mind was working over the scene in her own way, informed by lots of experience decoding the activities of animals in the wild by the signs they left behind--but really nothing quite analogous to this situation, especially since the... 'site,' as she supposed Vaya would have called it, seemed to be so old.


((Anything obvious about it on first look? Species, for example? Broken or displaced bones? Objects that survived better than the rest of the poor sucker's clothes?))

The legs are broken and the cloak seems to be the only thing that survived.

"I could..." Sinnya considered the logistics of prying a cloak off the shoulders of a desiccated skeleton. "What the hells, he's not using it. Or she. They." As delicately as possible, she started trying to detach the cloak from the body.

Unfortunately for whoever it was, the cloak's fasteners proved sturdier than the neck bones the garment was clasped around. Sinn got the cloth loose, but the skeleton's fleshless skull wobbled loose as well, rolling a few centimeters away. "Uh. Sorry about that," she muttered.
