[Day 5 - MN] Work of Art [Closed]

[Mahon Jiut]

Mahon was running on empty, not of money though that was always a problem just he had lost the drive after he finished his masterwork and then had to promptly had to hand it over to Vandil… it was worth it because it saved a lot of lives.

He sat in a chair and sipped brandy, and stared at the empty canvas. Now he had nothing, no fire, no drive… just booze and an empty soul.

Then there came a knocking at his chamber door.

[Dapper Dog]

The door slid open to reveal a face that seemed impossible.

[Mahon Jiut]

A beat and then he said the name, “Neela?”

“You’re… am I drunk? I mean I probably am… but is this real?” he said with confusion.

[Dapper Dog]

"May I come in?" she asked calmly.

"You really should change your security code, it's the same one you used back then."

[Mahon Jiut]

Mahon stepped aside and said, "Sure, yes! Of course." It was then he became self conscious at his own bedraggled appearance and tried to smooth out his shirt and thank the Maker he was wearing pants... right? He made a brief check they were pants like with only one sock... classy.

"I was just about to get in the refresher, drink?"

[Dapper Dog]

She placed a comforting hand on his shoulder as she passed and said, “You have not changed at all. I am not sure about the beard though.”

“If you need to freshen up, go ahead,” she said looking quizzically at the Sloan statue, “I am sure I can manage without you for a few minutes.”

Balance of the Force #2: 1eF 1 Dark Side

[Mahon Jiut]

"Yeah, yes, sure," he muttered still in shock.

“You look amazing, by the way,” he said making his way to the Refresher to get cleaned up. Once side he splashed his face and then debated on a shower as he stared at his reflection and then after about five minutes of indecision he opted for the shower.

Ten minutes later he wrapped a towel around himself and then realized he needed clothes. He sighed heavily and made his way back out looking for Neela to find her by the window of his bedroom looking out over the city.

His bed was a mess and there were more empty and half empty bottles on the nightstand than well should ever be there, frankly.

He said, “I guess I should clean up.”

[Dapper Dog]

“If you need to,” she said gazing at the skyline.

“I am not bothered by it, it’s who you are, who we used to be… well who you used to be, I hated that about you, how carefree you were. Never serious, always just allowing the waves to carry you wherever,” she said looking at her reflection.

“I am curious… play playlist Neela,” she said aloud and music started playing. “I hated this song.”

“And yet you had me put it on the list,” Mahon said moving behind her.

“I suppose I was too sentimental,” she said turning her head slightly to look over her shoulder and added, “young and stupid.”

Balance of the Force #3: 1eF 2 Light Side

[Mahon Jiut]

“I thought… know you are still the most beautiful creature to me,” Mahon admitted. “Your taste in music still needs work but… what happened to you?”

“After you chose the Jedi… after you made your decision and then you went off to war and then; I thought you were dead Neela. Now you’re alive,” he said trying to make sense of years of depression, guilt, and mourning.

“Kriff, what do I even say after all that?”

[Dapper Dog]

“You don’t have to say anything,” she said, still looking over her shoulder.

“The past is the past, Mahon, we both have things we regret. I had to reflect on what I had lost,” she said, turning back to look out at the city and reviewing her failures. Every time seeing that damn self assured Jedi… her rage grew and the grass cracked, spider-like webs forming the lower right hand corner.

“They say you can never truly home again, do you believe that?”

[Mahon Jiut]

“I think home is wherever you are, honestly. No need to go back, you are already there,” he said finally placing his arms around her. She did not resist him and he added, “This is home for me, I mean it literally is but… you know this… right now.”

“You and me, this is home.”

She wanted to believe that, leaning her head back in comfort like the days on Coruscant and that mission to Naboo, the night in the cave on Dantooine which was totally his fault. Then being hunted and facing Lord Vader and how easily he defeated her and showed her the strength of the Dark Side.

That was what this was all about, she had to divest herself of this to be truly who she was meant to be.

She turned and embraced him, their eyes met and then their lips followed and she felt something that wasn’t pain or anger. She then whispered, “Tell me that you still love me.”

[Mahon Jiut]

Mahon smiled and said confidently, “I love you, that has never changed, Neela.”

Her grip slipped on the lightsaber and fell to the ground and she felt a burden slip away… only to be followed by guilt but she had Mahon to distract her from the monster she had become… would he still feel the same way after she told him the truth?

The screen wipes away as they give into years of longing and loss.
