Maybe organics were just incapable of passing a certain threshold of capability. It would explain a great deal.
Her aural sensors detected a voice pattern, match identified. She turned to focus her visual receptors at Djanik, identity matched to visual appearance stored in long term memory. The unit turned grabbing a slip off the wall, it was useless but it assumed this gave it an 67% chance of what the organics called appearances.
Primitives.

For the faintest moment, Djanik followed the droid with his eyes.
Some sixth sense drew his gaze there, and maybe, just for a moment, this organic would realize...
No, he was busy.
Turning back to the girl, he fixed her with a thoughtful stare, trying to read her expressions and intentions.
"Well, I'd be a fool if I said as much plainly."
Crossing his arms, he added, plainly. "If I did, would you go straight to the authorities? Perhaps hoping it would buy you entry back into the program?"

“No, not really.”
She adjusted her glasses and said, “If I had to choose between being a pirate, or carting cargo, or a rebellion… sure let’s go rebellion.”
“Thank you Rebel recruiter,” she offered her hand.

Djanik laughed at that, shaking her hand.
"Djanik, please."
Looking about, he added, "As I said before, I've recently repaired a ship. Perhaps you could show me how you fly some time - I assume you're staying in the city?"
Withdrawing his datapad, he inquired, "Do you have a comm code I can reach you with?"

"Sure," she said giving him her code all stealthy like.

That made him roll his eyes.
Surely I was never so green?
Tucking the pad away, he added, "Don't act sneaky. It draws attention. Just be yourself."
Cracking his neck, he added, "Either way, It's a pleasure doing business with you, Maxxy. I'll be in touch soon."

Maxxy saluted and then went back to the ads, shrugged and decided on some kaff.

With a faint sigh, he made his way back to his own hangar, deciding to take some time to see what sorts of repairs he could manage on his own.
