And so, Petrus rolled up his sleeves (metaphorically; he was still wearing a tank top), and began to move things. Debris. Crates. Bigger crates. A few barrels, too.

There's a deafening crash as Floats lifts up a giant barrel (like the sort Mia might throw) to assist a fellow rebel....which unbalances a whole gantry above sending tools and boxes tumbling down.

"Fiddlesticks! Ten thousand thirsty festering fiddlesticks!"

Petrus looked at the mess. Then at Floats. Then back at the mess. He sighed.

Walking over, he knelt down, and started gathering up the tools. "Need a hand, Floats?"

From up above, a trooper looked down over the railing. "Hey, how'd you manage to get those boxes unstuck? I thought we were gonna have to carve them apart. You're a lifesaver, ma'am!"

Petrus looked at the mess. Then at Floats. Then back at the mess. He sighed.

Walking over, he knelt down, and started gathering up the tools. "Need a hand, Floats?"

"That's real sweet of you Petrus, I'm all thumbs today."
Yelling back up to the trooper "Those were the glue boxes? Well ain't that something, thought we were gonna have to burn 'em all....go team?"
Whispering back to Petrus "Bunch of the new recruits decided they'd use glue guns to fight the imps....improper storage left them in a sticky situation."

He helped load up more of the fallen tools. "How are you holding up?" He asked, giving her a slightly weary smile.

She starts depositing the various tools into boxes, trying to match Petrus' smile with her own
"I uh....was in the group that fought that bullying inquisitor yesterday, 13th sister? It was...pretty intense, you know?"

"Oh." Petrus' expression grew more serious. "With the Mandalorians? I heard about that." He gave her a nod. "That was good, saving them. Or as many of them as you could."

He gave her a concerned look. "So, uh, conflicted how? Or why?"

A severe curse by her standards, as Floats throws a wrench into a box with all her might
"I killed a buncha people! They had it comin' but still, I killed 'em. Chopped some into bits, cut others up. I don't like doing that kinda stuff! I work real hard not to like doing that kinda stuff!"

Petrus' eyes widened, and he flinched as she threw the wrench into the box. "Floats..." He said, one hand coming up uncertainly, then falling back to his side.

"Hey. Floats. C'mon." Reaching out, he gently put his hands on her shoulders. "It's okay. That's terrible, and I'm sorry. But what would our Masters have said about it?" He waited, letting her give her answer.

Petrus' eyes widened, and he flinched as she threw the wrench into the box. "Floats..." He said, one hand coming up uncertainly, then falling back to his side.

"Hey. Floats. C'mon." Reaching out, he gently put his hands on her shoulders. "It's okay. That's terrible, and I'm sorry. But what would our Masters have said about it?" He waited, letting her give her answer.

"Nam's not here! He left."
She grabs another wrench and looks like she's about to piff it into some unsuspecting rebel....but that wasn't how she was raised and she just lets it drop into the box with a clatter

"He'd have said something very wise about living with it and accepting it and how we don't seek violence and sometimes it seeks us out instead. But that still don't mean I have to like it!"
Her shoulders are hunched and knotted, the muscles tense, probably not from the barrel though

Petrus held firm. If Floats focused, she would feel the Force flowing through his body. He might not be quite as muscular as her, but he was strong, and the Force is with him.

"Well, good, you remember that." Petrus smiled. "Okay, Floats. I'm gonna hug you now. And I want to do that without you hitting me, or throwing me, or picking me up and stuffing me in a box, okay? Deal?"

His lips quirked. "Guess I'm gonna have to take the others on faith. Well, here goes." Petrus moved in.

He put his arms around her, squeezing. And while he couldn't quite squeeze the way she could, he could do a pretty good job.

Floats freezes for a bit then gently pats Petrus on the back and gives a counter squeeze before slumping a little against her fellow padawan
"Not gonna pick you up or throw you or hit you either....you're good people."

Petrus shifted his arms as she slumped, letting the larger Padawan slump against him. "Hey, thanks Floats. You're good people, too."

He gave her back a little pat too. "You wanna tell me about it? Sometimes that helps, right?"

"Ain't much in the telling. When we got there they'd already killed any of the Mandalorians they could get their hands on. We went in pretty hard but there were a lot of them. Cold, dark, rainy, blaster bolts just coming out of the night, dead all around. We nearly didn't make it, I got shocked real good by one of them fancy troopers. Worst part is."
She pulls her head back a little to make eye contact

"The first bit, when I was swinging away and taking down stormtroopers left and right?...It felt good, real good, better than I'd felt in ages. But I don't want killing men to be what makes me happy at the end of the day."

Among those working with the heavy machinery, there was someone in the background doing repairs on one of the larger pieces. They were partially beneath what they were working on. She paused, tried to resist listening, worked harder so she wouldn't focus on it. It was friends' voices.

It was impossible not to catch a little of it, though. Not enough to break her concentration, but it crowded her mind nonetheless.

Someone did something they regretted because of me.

“Yes ma’am, well since I am on break better help moving these boxes and I saw some walls that could use patching up. Think I saw a weapons locker too, be good to check the weapons and build an equipment roster,” he said as he picked up a box.

Floats' lower lip trembles and she tries her best to maintain composure. Why'd he have to go and be so nice all the time?
