Peace of Me (D6 EM)

Out in the remote wild hills, Oraka has built or more likely rebuilt a cabin as a safe house in case of danger...

Peace of Me (D6 EM)

Post by Rannek Nire » Mon Feb 10, 2020 5:08 am

Rannek had spent nearly the entire day in and around the hills that surrounded Oraka's house. The elusive 'peace' that the Jedi master told him he needed to find was elusive. Rannek did, however, begin to feel a bit more himself after most of the day.

He woke up early that next morning and walked over to the edge of the nearby waterfall. He put his feet out over the edge and looked down.

Rannek had never been one to wax too philosophical as a youngling. He sat atop the cliff with his eyes out on the falling water as he stretched his mind back to a time perhaps when he had felt the peace that now eluded him. He recalled his mornings in the jungle of Caamas with Master Talon... of exercises in the jedi temple... jumping from platform to platform in a training room with his instructors watching on from behind the glass.

Rannek began to see that for him it was rarely in moments of deep contemplation that he had felt at one with the world around him... it was always when he stopped being caught in his head... and instead focused on an immediate obstacle directly in front of him. Something about the kinetic release of his physical faculties allowed some wall to drop between him and the Force.

He stood up from the edge and backed away a few feet before beginning to stretch out and begin a physical routine to get his blood pumping. He began by running along the top of the waterfall's cliff, going back and forth from his vantage point to the water's edge.

After getting a good run in he returns back to his previous vantage point and begins with the series of crunches and push-ups that he often engaged in to keep his body in good shape... after a few minutes though he began to press himself a bit more than usual. He started doing a handstand... and a series of push-ups from that position to get even further out of his mind and focus only on his relation to the world and keeping his balance.

He shifted from two hands to one as he moved past single digits into 10's and 20's of repetitions.

"Good," he said.

"Then follow me," he said and then ran and dove off the edge of the waterfall into the lake below.

He raised the knife to stab at the creature but paused for a moment.

If you give fear a foot it’ll take a mile my padawan.

The words of his master came back to his mind.

He dropped the knife and extended his hand to the beast.

“Be still...”

He tried his best... but couldn’t feel the flow of strength and courage he hoped for.

He breathed a bit slower and felt his heart rate lower as he tread the water in the darkness.

How do you get the fear out if it’s taken more than a mile...?

He thought to himself alone in the blackness.

He could feel the water closing in around him... the desperation rose but he didn’t want to give in to the fear that called to him.

If this was the end... at least he’d face it as himself.
