As he opens his mind and heart and allows the two to intertwine with the world around him he begins to see things he had not previously seen...
He saw the joy in the eyes of the mother whose child was saved by his Master's sacrifice. He saw the joy in the eyes of his Master when he chose to return home to Mirial. He saw the joy in the eyes of his parents as they heard their son had escaped with a Jedi during the night. He saw the respect that the old togruta woman looked at him with as he walked away from Gibsy's house the first time.
All of these times the person did right when it would have been easier to do wrong... or nothing. Confronting fear and hardship is the destiny of a Jedi. Not for fame... or acclaim... but to add a drop of brightness into a darkened world. Without the drops of good... the whole world would be dark.
He opened his eyes and replied, "Confronting fear and hardship is the destiny of a Jedi. We bring light... however small it is. Light that all beings need to find their way. We cannot shirk that responsibility. It will always follow us. We can be a force for light, or help enable in the darkening of the galaxy. There is no mere 'surviving'... No 'try'... only what we do or don't do."
